Are you sure you did her final mission?
I've completed all main missions available to me.
The sheer amount of red herrings shown in trailers and promo media was actually really hurtful of the game because it made the story seem a lot more complex and complete than it really was.
What we got was just lacking, in every aspect. The new characters weren't interesting. This isn't the conclusion to the story we hoped for. The closure everyone expected was shoved aside and relegated to a short epilogue that's not even an original mission.

[sp]So you've maxed her buddy-meter and played the mission where you fight like 500 tanks? That's her last mission.[/sp]

[Sp]I haven't played that one because it hasn't shown up for me. I presume because I didn't max her buddy meter; maybe I should keep it that way.[/sp]

what closure?
we already know what happens to each and every non-new character in the series.
i don't get what you guys expected out of a game that bridges the gap between mgs3 and mg1, because the storyline has already been out there since kojima conceived mg.
the only thing worth noting is the [sp]body double ruse cruise[/sp] that sort of ties into metal gear 1, where [sp]big boss suddenly switches channels near the end of the game and tries to persuade solid to stop the mission, which kojima sort of implies that it's venom snake (because the concept of a body double big boss has been created in mgs5) hijacking the signal because he decides to go against big boss's plans in operation intrude n313 wherein venom snake sacrifices himself for big boss's vision.[/sp]
:snip:
nvm im dumb
This is all really sad, because the game focuses so much on a story that nobody cared about or bought the game to see. Kojima spent all of this time making a game about something that didn't matter to anyone, to the point where he had to remove content and to the point where he got shoved out of Konami for taking too long.
MGS 2 got away with it (sort of) because it had an interesting commentary to back it up. TPP has nothing. It plays its cards straight, from start to finish, and the more complex elements of the story are brushed away at the end and aren't that interesting.
At least the gameplay was good, until mission 31. Then even the gameplay got boring and failed to be refreshing.

Ok but [sp]that dumbass Venom Snake shit[/sp] practically invalidated the entire story. [Sp]MGSV doesn't really have any relevance to the rest of the series, other than Eli[/sp] because of it.
At the very end the game was just like [sp]Big Boss is off doing the actually important stuff, you're just here to twiddle your dick and cause a distraction for him. Nothing you just did was really relevant of meaningful.[/sp] Even getting revenge on Skull Face didn't really matter; he was introduced in GZ and his only relevance to the overarching plot of Metal Gear was just thrown in. [Sp]And Venom Snake dies at the end of MG1 so it's not like that character went on to do anything important either.[/sp]
-snip late :v
Basically the only answer TPP brings to the big picture is [sp]how Big Boss died "twice"[/sp], and that's not nearly good enough to justify the entire game.
Oh and it also kind of explains why [sp]Ocelot is such a crazy fanatic in MGS 1, 2 and 4 even by the standards he set in 3[/sp], although it's a dumb explanation [sp]and it doesn't work any better now than it did in MGS 4[/sp]

okay?
so was coldman. so was strangelove. so was amanda. so was chico. so was paz.
So was Quiet's lady boner for Venom as big as I thought it was? Cause it seemed pretty big, it would explain why she didn't [sp]speak at all, she didn't want to risk it and en up hurting Venom[/sp]. I also think she knew that Venom wasn't [sp]Big Boss[/sp]
okay?

Yeah Peace Walker wasn't great either, thanks for reminding me.
Any news regarding that announcement yet? It should drop in just under an hour's time.
Any news regarding that announcement yet? It should drop in just under an hour's time.
If you're talking about the countdown thing, it's fake. Announcement is scheduled on 9/11 at 4:20, so it's pretty obviously not real.

[sp]She probably didn't, but was still assigned to kill him all the same by the Parasites. She did see him and Ishmael both, and explicitly said, "The patient in the bed over saw me," before attacking you in the prologue.[/sp]

I feel like the 4:20 bit should probably discounted as evidence against it being real simply because my countdown is gonna be over at roughly 8:00 O'clock because timezones exist.
Whether it's fake or real, honestly I'm just curious to what's gonna be there at the end of the countdown.

Crushed dreams and bitterness
Crushed dreams and bitterness
Such a lust for closure
Ending discussion
[Sp]I feel like if chapter 1 had been a little more fleshed out, it could have been a stronger end to the game. E.g. integrate Eli's story in chapter 1, have mission 51 as a prologue mission like how Zeke was in PW, get rid of the Venom Snake stuff, then call it a day. That would have been a decent end without changing what the game already has, I think.[/sp]
Crushed dreams and bitterness
According to 8ch /v/, it's some indie developers getting a free ride off kojima's hype train.
We'll see though.

The final [sp]venom snake[/sp] twist was deduced by a lot of people years ago because [sp]in the footage of venom riding the bike, his horn is not at all in the right place[/sp] which directly pointed to something being awfully wrong.
The theory was dismissed because everyone thought Kojima wouldn't [sp]try the same bait and switch again.[/sp] Turns out he went ahead and did it anyway and it failed.
all the bitching about the ending spoilers[sp]venom snake stuff is really annoying, you play as big boss in all but the name, quit complaining, the ending even tells the player straight up that venom did important shit to keep his legacy looking good[/sp]
I don't think you're understanding why people are mad about the twist

they were awesome trailers though.
people are mad because [sp]everything they did didnt matter or something? or that it was a cheap twist?[/sp]
I'm mostly mad about how the trailers each and everyone portrayed venom snake to go nuclear, to have a shadow of that ingame. I really wanted to see a man [sp]descent into pure chaos and hate.[/sp]
And about how he trained child soldiers, not had a [sp]kindergarden at motherbase.[/sp]

if anything this sort of complaining about the [sp]kojima bait and switch[/sp] in comparison to mgs2 is exactly the same. after the game released people did nothing but bitch and moan that kojima fucked with people thinking they were going to play as snake and ended up playing as raiden.
[sp]Let's say that Big Boss didn't have a phantom...what would the point of MG1 be? What is Big Boss' goal?[/sp]
Not that this really bothers me, but anyone else disappointed that there wasn't more of the [sp]flaming whale?[/sp] We only saw it once and that was it. I was hoping we get to do some sick boss battle with it or something.

ending spoilers [sp]I think it's more because the game feels like it had a lot more to say, but was cut off at the climax. Hell, there's been multiple times through the main plot where I sat thinking "They could have done a LOT more with that plot element." The axed scene where Big Boss goes through a village of burned corpses and screams would have been really powerful, but for some reason that got ditched.
Plus there's the stupid gameplay stuff like where Quiet becomes inaccessible as a buddy after Mission 45, requiring you to restart the ENTIRE GAME if you want her back because, in their eternal wisdom, there's only one save file and you can't revert to a previous save state.[/sp]
Missed opportunities and bizarre design decision are what bother me.
