FOB shit sucks, i use a silenced pistol on a guy all by himself on the connecting walkways and the alarm goes off and the enemy rival comes in.

There are some endgame researches and equipment that uses them. I think in total you need a few thousand for all of them.
When someone takes staff from your FOB its only guys on the security team right?
I have 12 people in my waiting room but I don't have the heart to discharge any of them, even my only D-rank combat staff(who is also one of the few women I have) because they're all so eager to serve Big Boss. It's like cutting the kid from the team who just barely made the cut and got on in their senior year after trying out for years and years only to be rejected because they weren't good enough and all they wanted to do was play ball.
How do I get more female staff? I only have 3 of them and HR is on my ass about meeting our diversity quotas.
Is the security staff something I get if I make an FOB or is it something I get as the game progresses like all the other sections? And I know that at some point, I will have a quarantine section. Is it free or will I have to construct it?
One thing that bugs me about MGS3, what happened to the philosophers? [sp]You find out they've all been long dead by the time Zero takes over so it seems like Cipher filled in the illuminati power vacuum.[/sp]
Pffft, I went online today to find a successful defense by just my staff where the guy screwed up so hard he got neutralized within 2 minutes and I got a pair of S rank staff out of it.

you will have to make a FOB at some point if you're online, and Security is basically a dumping ground for all your low-risk shitty soldiers.

If they make it to the center of your FOB, they'll capture a small amount (10 or so) staff from you. It depends on which platform they decided to invade. If it's the command platform (main platform), they'll take 10 random staff from you. If they invaded the Base Development platform and captured it, they'll take base dev staff from you.
I've played about 30 or so FOBs now, and I'm reaching towards FOBs which are levels 25-40 due to my espionage rank. If you have any other questions regarding FOBs, I might be able to provide some insight on to that.

Your best female soldiers will be volunteers, i got a few S+ ranked ones after finishing some important missions.
The [sp]mother base quarantine[/sp] is unlocked after some point in the story, it's automatically built.
It seems like the only time people from your Security Team are taken from you are when the invader directly fultons them out while invading your FOB. Otherwise, when they reach the goal during invasions they instead pull random staff from your other units depending on the platform they invaded.
After playing this I have to say that [sp]Venom Snake is 800% cooler than Big Boss now.[/sp]

[sp]The original Philosophers were dead by the 60's, The Boss dying (she being the last of the Philosopher's offspring) was basically a big fuck you to the new order that tried to keep things together, and the whole thing basically collapsed. Volgin's father acquiring most if not all of the Legacy did not help things either.[/sp]

I believe there's a bug that stops the progression of the game and you may of encountered it. I think using a certain buddy triggers it, or there might be other causes but I know there's such a bug floating around

Oh man, jumping from the ~fancy HD PS4~ to the PSP graphics in Peace Walker is a hell of a transition. I like the little "sorry Boss, but you can't crawl this time" handwave that Miller does.

FOB's are really inconsistent. I've had multiple times when a defender arrived even when I hadn't even had any interaction with enemy combatants yet.

I think it's some kind of twisted logic that if the player that succeeds doesn't get anything of worth (like a high skilled soldier) then there's no point in doing it.
I really wish they didn't make the system so harsh.
