Man it's so sad watching hyped optimism degrade into cynicism within a single thread
I guess it's because some people feel a personal bond to the series, it's a bit more than just a game for some fans. I grew up with the series and 5's ending....I haven't felt that hallow in a long time.
Don't get me wrong, on it's own it's a fantastic game, but as an MGS game there's a ton of stuff missing, and once you start learning about all that stuff it starts to feel worse and worse.
They're little baby claymores. Bring D-dog and look at the map
Also use nightvision goggles. Or to more accurately describe them, "gameplayvision goggles".

I used the NVGs like 5 times during my 60 hours of playing and I only infiltrate at night.
It's just the internet, people who really like a thing aren't going to say that over and over.
But you can hate on something in a thousand ways.
I don't think it's even that, the game does have some real issues in the story department, along with cut content and re-used missions/areas. I really enjoyed the game, but it's definitely not a perfect game. It feels like it kind of went the opposite of what a lot of people viewed as MGS4's problem, instead of too much story there wasn't enough, and what was there wasn't very satisfying.
[sp] The whole thing feels kind of pointless, since in the end what does it do other than resolve a small footnote in the series; who the body double was that Solid killed in MG1, a game most of us probably didn't even play?[/sp]
Defender gets notified of invasions regardless of alert level
Which is total fucking garbage.
The only way to avoid this is to pray they aren't online when you invade them.
tbh I was more annoyed at MGS4's fanfic "lets bring in every character that alive and even some that aren't" writing than MGS5's weak plot
MGS4 had some good nostalgia moments but overall that's all it really had.
What gets me the most is that the game just abruptly ends, like (obvious ending spoilers)[sp]Liquid Snake and Psychkid Mantis running off with Metal Gear Anachronismus and the Plot Twist Parasite are totally unimportant and Fake Boss's solution isn't worth paying attention to.[/sp]
[editline]12th September 2015[/editline]
It's one thing to cut content from an overly ambitious game but these are BIG FUCKING ISSUES, there's no excuse for handwaving them away in a fucking timeline after the game ends.
The thing is, they ran out of money/time. Go watch episode 51 on youtube, you'll get what they wanted to do. I'm sure it'll be added as dlc, or at least proven canon through word of mouth.
As for the ME3 comparison...[sp]At least the retcon twist they had in MGSV only affected a small part of the timeline, and overall the series could continue with no errors. ME3's ending is the reveal for all three games, showing us what really controls the reapers, in what is one of the most disappointing and sour tasting endings I've had with a game in a long, long time. While people could walk away from MGSV going "wow, that was stupid, the other games were better," ME3 had people going "Man, that was so dumb, I can't go back to those old games anymore because I know it'll end with this shit." Overall, while both had rather bad endings, I much prefer V's.[/sp]
I'm not sure anything can really compare to ME3's ending. It ruined 3 games; I can't even go back and play the other two now.
I used the NVGs like 5 times during my 60 hours of playing and I only infiltrate at night.
NVG's weren't revealing shit so I brought DD. I saw a few on the map that weren't on the ground where they should be ao I figured they may have fallen through the map. Planted some C4 and it got them.
Which is total fucking garbage.

Or if you're on console, you can pray that they don't have PSN+ or XBLGold.
mgs4 was literally
we need to explain every unexplained event in the past, as well as bring as much fanservice to the table as humanly possible
i'm glad some shit goes a little unexplained in 5, god forbid we get something to speculate about or leave up in the air (not counting mission 51 obviously)
I still can't forgive MGS4 for the fucking [sp]Madnar[/sp] mentions being done so casually, without reaction, and without even any explanation whatsoever.
And naturally the game that would've explained it got completely reworked. It's like since Peace Walker, this series is having a bad record with consistently trying to explain things in the series and instead going for almost entirely new stuff instead.

yeah, I didn't need to know what happened to half the characters after MGS2, i was fine just speculating.
i'd go as far to say that MGS4 devalues the other games (esp MGS2's simulation theory)

everything about MGS 4 that has no bearing on other games in the series (like how it sets up [sp]Big Boss vs Cipher[/sp]) isn't canon in my eyes
I heard that if your bond with quiet is maxed out, you can't access mission 46. Is that true?
I used the NVGs like 5 times during my 60 hours of playing and I only infiltrate at night.
I mostly use them because I have bad eyes and have a hard time identifying distant targets. I can and sometimes do use the binoculars to zoom in, but that limits the area I can search at once. With night vision I can easily pinpoint everyone I can snipe from my current location.
also big mama
big
mama
The scene with [sp]snake and quiet playing in the rain[/sp] is cute as hell
So I'm somewhat confused and just want to verify, [sp]Paz was never really alive was she? It was just some crazy mindfuck thing that Kojima added right?[/sp]
the fact that rose wasn't thrown out of an airplane and raiden being made into an edgelord badass really just makes the experience that much worse
but edgy robot raiden > whiny audience surrogate raiden
I found a radio tape playing in game that spooped me out.

everytime i think about MGS 3 i love it more and more

this scene just makes me smile at the fact that it's so fuking great and HE KILLS THE BEES BY SPINNING HIS GUNS
I feel like I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed MGS4.

goddamn this is actually really fucking creepy for a completely missable radio broadcast with no attention called to it
fuck why did PT get cancelled....

I miss this ocelot
MGSV ocelot is just so boring in comparison to him in any other game
is there someone in particular i need to be able to customize rocket launchers or are there no customization options for them?
I still wonder why Raiden was even made into a cyborg. By the end of MGS2 he was already badass enough to do all that ninja cyborg shit minus the superstrength but that could have just been done by him wearing an exoskeleton like the one Solidus wears.
Some of you disagreed with me on MGS6 being about Liquid Snake's origins, but as it stands, it's literally the only place for the game to continue. If it were to continue.

I liked it. Then again I've liked every version of Raiden so far.

seeing more of what snake and otacon did as Philanthropy would be a good setup for some real fun missions i think
as people get billy bonged by kojima and gets mad, i'm just sitting here listening to this tape.
