Wait, did they straight out say [sp]the Cobras used parasites? I thought it was just "Quiet has photosynthesis like the End, but uses parasites. Even if so, that would only really be the End and the Fear. All the others didn't need them.[/sp]
[sp]he also heavily implied the pain had parasites that let him control BEEEEES with pheremones[/sp]
How in the fuck do I unlock Side Ops 112?
So while using the trainer I had, I had speed hacks on and, the guy kinda just, disappeared:
Is there any way I can use a trainer or cheat engine or something to get the [sp]conch shell[/sp]? The[sp]child&wormhole fultons[/sp]are forever locked for me, even though I did the side op that unlocks the [sp]conch shell[/sp]. I've seen this is a common issue on the steam forums.
That's...strange? I never picked up the [sp]conch[/sp] but I have the wormhole, children, and mastery upgrades.
I liked Skull Face's voice acting ;(
James Horan isn't a bad actor in the least. He's just really hammy and overplays some things, because it's part of his acting style.
but edgy robot raiden > whiny audience surrogate raiden
although mgs2 raiden got on my nerves occasionally I liked seeing his character growth and "I wanna be cool like Solid Snake but I have no idea what the hell is going on" was something I could relate to
mgs4 raiden tries to be cool but mostly comes across as trying too hard/still being a stupid jackass
- "It's my turn to protect you, Snake", but Snake still has to run past a bunch of Gekko, plus then Raiden gets his ass kicked so hard he's dying for the next third of the game
- Fights Vamp (clearly trying to kill him) but assumes that a dude who has been shot through the brain three times is probably dead after being stabbed and just leaves him lying there (seriously, just cut off his head, I doubt he can nanomusheens his way out of that)
- Jumps off REX for no reason at all and gets Shadow Moses dropped on his head
- Rips off his arms because he can't lift up some rubble but then stops an entire boat from moving with the power of will
- Can summon lightning exactly once
- Holds his sword in his mouth like he's Pikachu in Smash Bros because apparently he has no spare robut parts, until the end when we see he does
yeah, I didn't need to know what happened to half the characters after MGS2, i was fine just speculating
Some stuff works, like "SIGINT is the DARPA chief because there are only two black people in this franchise" is fine and clever. Other stuff like "Para-Medic, the lady who knows about animals, movies, and medicine is actually [sp]a mad scientist who Frankensteins people into robots[/sp]" feels a lot more hamfisted and dumb. Still not really on board with [sp]Zero[/sp] role as the mastermind, either.
And then things like "Mei Ling doesn't have an accent because she was born and raised in America" or "Liquid Ocelot sounds like Patric rather than Cam" annoy me - they make sense, sure, but I'd prefer consistency over accuracy.
Honestly Chapter 1 was actually really great. Even though Skull Face doesn't really have relevance in the overall story, the need to get revenge on him really drove the story well. With some minor modifications, chapter 1 coulda just been the whole game, and it would have been better than this.
Anybody ever have Quiet do this?

So hey, here's hoping Metal Gear Online will be great! Fucking loved MGS4's. I can picture them dropping the whole RP thing though and doing micro-transactions.
we will probably see it in the form of multiple season passes if konami are smart
businesswise i mean, they could totally hook people if they added multiple chapters in the form of dripfed dlcs
I think we've already established that no, Konami are not smart.
FOB shit sucks, i use a silenced pistol on a guy all by himself on the connecting walkways and the alarm goes off and the enemy rival comes in.
Was it a lethal pistol? If so, I guess that makes sense. I think there's supposed to be a system monitoring the vitals of guards.
Neat little detail about the last mission [sp]The credits at the start of the mission features both Big Boss and Venom Snake[/sp]
Any tips for [sp]A Quiet Exit[/sp]? Even with battle dress I get one-shotted.
You know, I'm not as broken up about the ending as some of you are.
[sp] The fact that the Medic was never fully shown in GZ, the fact that you could give him a name and face, and date of birth - YOUR name and face, and date of birth - and the fact that your character, whether you knew it or not, ended up perfectly playing the role of the legendary hero, Big Boss, speaks volumes. As far as I'm concerned, the medic IS big boss - It's a man with his training, his memories, even his personality and tendencies, due to the hypnosis.[/sp]This wasn't a cop-out by Kojima, this was a thank you to his fans. Yeah, it's not all we wanted it to be. But I thoroughly enjoyed it.

[sp]It's a love/hate thing for me. I love it for exactly the same reason you said, but it also kinda messes with Big Boss as a character and some of the plot of the whole series.[/sp]
I personally don't mind the ending at all, I can see what Kojima was trying to do. It's everything else about the story that I don't like. The fact that the [sp]parasites filled the same lazy deus ex machina role that the nanomachines did in Metal Gear Solid 4 is really disappointing to me.[/sp]
Call me crazy but I actually preferred the writing in Peace Walker. Yes I know, it was very silly and at times felt like a Saturday morning cartoon but at least the story was engaging in it's silliness.
i love the subtle hints that kojima throws at you throughout the game for the [sp]body double shimmy[/sp].
[sp]keifer voicing ishmael, the constant "you remember, don't you boss?" by ocelot led by exposition, how venom let's kaz and ocelot do most of the talking and leading, the single line of dialogue made by the mammal pod when you extract bitch boy[/sp]
How long does the counter invasion wormhole stays up?
I was invading someone's 2-platform [del]storage[/del] support facility, got to the end and couldn't find the fucking entrance point because marker showed somewhere bottom of the sea. Then the rival showed up and I lost my shit. Now he has a wormhole on me.
Also he was using non-lethal on me, while he has his staff on lethal.
This is beautiful.

And accurate.

Run behind the sheds and throw away that pea-shooter rocket laucher the mission starts you with and order some real shit from Mother Base.
Only stick your head out and shoot while the tanks are reloading, and pray that they don't get lucky.
And airstrikes are your friends, use them.
Any tips for [sp]A Quiet Exit[/sp]? Even with battle dress I get one-shotted.
[sp]It's a shootout with the tanks. Bring your best rocket launcher and don't trade hits. Take cover, pop out, shoot, relocate to not get hit.
Repeat as needed. Getting hit by the tanks is always instant death.[/sp]

I actually tried to [sp]extract them[/sp]
Wait did they really leave [sp]Eli and Mantis stealing Sahelanthropus[/sp] unexplained and unanswered? that kinda sucks...
I actually tried to [sp]extract them[/sp]
I tried too, so many times. But it really is just so hard, especially [sp]later on when you get to the double tank + helicopter. They kill Quiet so fast.[/sp]
I gave up and resorted to violence. If you think you can do it that way though, power to you.
MASSIVE MISSION 43 SPOILERS AHEAD
Maybe this will make you guys feel a little better about how a certain asshole's story ended.
fulton is detrimental to gameplay overall I think, it's massive utility plus the fact that you need soldiers for a few essential QoL upgrades pretty much shoehorns you into one narrow playstyle where you tranq and fulton everything
I think the whole [sp]"WHOOOOOOOOOOO?!?!!!"[/sp] thing pretty much dropped an atom bomb on his performance.
Whaaaat? That's my favorite quote from the whole thing. I honestly love how hammy Skullface is because it reminds me of how hammy all the previous MGS antagonists are.
TPP's story telling is fine and all, but I wish it actually took itself less seriously at times, again like the other MGS games. Also, I'm sad that Ocelot never spun his guns.
A quick question about ground zeroes and tpp (sorry if it's been asked before, I just really don't want to sift through hundreds of pages): Is there any advantage to having a 100% ground zeroes save file? I've done everything I really wanted to in the game and I'm at like 25% (I've done all the side ops, not the extra ops though). Am I good to start playing tpp or is there some specific thing I should go do first/am I going to regret not doing something in ground zeroes later?

Extract all the prisoners, Kojima and the two guys called Eye and the Finger, they will be available at the start of MGS V in your motherbase, and give a little boost to start it off. And do the Deja Vu and Jamais Vu missions to unlock the Solid Snake PS1 skin, the GZ sneaking suit you get by importing the save. Other than that not really. Or just download this 100 percent save, it has every mission done, and everybody extracted, and once you import it to TPP they will pop up in your MB after a couple of missions

So while running back through to s-rank everything, I found out in mission 18 that (lategame item spoilers)[sp]You can kick the kids to the ground and wormhole extract them.[/sp]
theres a 18 minute video on youtube of the cut mission, its mostly explained through text and concept art, but theres some rudimentary 3d cutscene footage in there as well
[sp]I thought it was kind of weird how Venom takes on a bunch of soldiers at once, head on, by flick shotting them all. I've been doing it the whole game, but it somehow looks out of place in a cutscene.[/sp]
