I honestly wouldn't call it a stealth game, direct combat is easy even against large numbers of enemies so there are no consequences for getting spotted. You even have support choppers and airstrikes. Stealth is only a self imposed challenge.
Once I learned you can deactivate pretty much every display from markers to the thingy that shows who spotted you I feel like the stealth really got spiced up.
At some point towards the end of the game you get a series of numbered side ops called [sp]"Eliminate the wandering puppets"[/sp]
When you get to 10 or 11 of that side-op, you'll notice that every one of those enemies is now using full riot gear. There's still a pretty easy way to deal with them - non lethally, too. Run up to them, use the stun arm punch - It'll knock them down and knock off their helmets, but won't stun them right away. Quickly just aim at their heads and fire one tranq pistol round - It takes them like ten seconds to get up again anyway. Even though they look like [sp]zombies[/sp] if you neutralize them non-lethally and then fulton them, each is cured and awarded a service cross - Which is great when some of them are S-ranked.
Just started playing, but from what i've seen in the hospital mission [sp]the flame demon seems to surprisingly look a lot like Volgin from MGS3 to me, he shares similarities on his chest (bandolier?) am I right to think that or am I digging for scraps?[/sp]
Why won't you wake up?

It's a game that is primarily focused on stealth so it's a stealth game. Yeah, shooting everything is the easiest way but it's also the one that gives you the least rewards in every way. And why would you want to just ignore all the good opportunities to play it stealthily and just take the easy and lazy route?
Yeah, shooting everything is the easiest way but it's also the one that gives you the least rewards in every way.?
As far as I know mission rank is the only bonus for stealth.
And why would you want to just ignore all the good opportunities to play it stealthily and just take the easy and lazy route?
Self imposed challenge, like I said.
you cant use MB coins to speed that up tho
oh, my bad i thought it was, nevermind... 5 hours either way, that's just stupid... did konami think they were making a mobile game

You're spot on. It's explained later.

Except that shooting everyone will mean that you're not going to get any staff and getting things like resources and vehicles is going to be harder. And it's not self imposed challenge, it's you playing the game the way you want to play.
personally I love quiet, but maybe I'm a bit on the aggressive side.
first, tell her to scout an outpost, get close, start sniping dudes with a silenced sniper, and then have quiet join in when she's done, and then silenced assault rifle to get the rest.
sometimes I'll scan them and check their skills and capture the better ones.
I have quiet scout before I get to an outpost and then command her to shoot any enemies I want tranqued while I shoot any I want dead

It really doesnt give you less rewards, though.
At least, it doesn't once you get the non-lethal assault rifle, which you can get fairly early on.
S-ranking missions without stealth is usually not hard, either. there's a few exceptions but most of them are pretty easy if you do them non-lethally and quickly.
More than a stealth game, it's a non-lethal game. Yeah you can stealth through and avoid people, and yeah you can use lethal weapons, and the vast majority of weapons are lethal, but you get the most rewards for going non-lethal, by far. Every soldier you don't fulton is a soldier wasted.
Honestly hate that particular aspect after the first 20 hours or so.
Quick question: is it worth having soldiers with the Boaster skill? Even if they're S rank?
Also how does that skill even work, are their ranks just one less then what it say (i.e. if it says A+ then they're actually just A)?
Or are their true ranks completely different (i.e. an S rank soldier could be a D rank)?
Quick question: is it worth having soldiers with the Boaster skill? Even if they're S rank?
There's no reason not to have them if all your units aren't full already.
Also, I disagree that the [sp]Vocal cord parasites/parasites in general[/sp] are 'nanomachines' level of poor writing. I listened to every one of code-talker tapes. The science is far from perfect, but it's passable, and it's clear a hell of a lot of thought went into it. Besides which, they tie into the game's theme - words that kill. The whole thing has so many parallels to Orwell's 1984.

how is it harder to get resources and vehicles?
how is it harder to get resources and vehicles?
Because enemies will shoot at balloons. If you keep doing it, they'll keep getting better at it. If you do it when there's no alert, they most likely won't notice them.
Except that shooting everyone will mean that you're not going to get any staff and getting things like resources and vehicles is going to be harder..=
You don't need stealth to use rubber bullets, which don't have much of a disadvantage against soft targets aside from muzzle velocity. Sleep grenades or flashbangs + CQC will work against riot armor.
And it's not self imposed challenge, it's you playing the game the way you want to play.
Choosing to take a slower and more difficult approach to the game is indeed self imposed challenge.
EDIT:
Because enemies will shoot at balloons. If you keep doing it, they'll keep getting better at it. If you do it when there's no alert, they most likely won't notice them.
Just don't give them a line of fire to the balloon or knock out the whole outpost first
how is it harder to get resources and vehicles?
If you blow up the APC, how do you extract it?
If you don't fill your Base Development team, how are they going to mine resources?
Choosing to take a slower and more difficult approach to the game is indeed self imposed challenge.
Not if you find it more fun. Games aren't just about finding the quickest way to get through them and just sticking to it.

Then that becomes harder to do than stealth. Going up to someone and CQCing them is way easier when they're not actively searching and shooting at you.
I enjoy how the game feels and plays, especially with the open world it makes the game amazing for me

They honestly suck shit at it. And they generally don't do it if they know you're there, because they're too busy shooting at you. Some exceptions but it usually works out, and it's not like you have a shortage of fultons after the first upgrade.
Afrikaans sounds like someone with a speech impediment speaking English, no interpreter needed.

It's based on Dutch though
It's based on Dutch though
As a Dutch person, it's really funny hearing Afrikaans in this game (and in general). It's a weird mixture of slightly old and oddly phrased Dutch, with sentences that are literally translated from English to Dutch without any regard for the original Dutch grammar.
What makes these security team fuckers on FOBs able to kill me so stupid quickly?
It's based on Dutch though
Afrikaans is the bastard child of English and Dutch pretty much.
Afrikaans sounds like someone with a speech impediment speaking English, no interpreter needed.
Closer to Dutch, actually.
It's based on Dutch though
Yeah, it is old dutch mixed with african and english. Though dutch in it self sounds like a drunk german speaking bad english I suppose
Then that becomes harder to do than stealth. Going up to someone and CQCing them is way easier when they're not actively searching and shooting at you.
Having to throw a few grenades isn't enough to make stealth a logical approach at any point in the game. The game mechanics very heavily favor direct combat, which makes it a game where you can use stealth rather than a stealth game.

If the game favored combat, there wouldn't be all the different ways and weapons and items that are about giving you different options in stealth.
