If the game favored combat, there wouldn't be all the different ways and weapons and items that are about giving you different options in stealth.
You get tools, and it's plenty fun, but it's never the best approach. You also have a lot of tools for direct combat. Personally my favorite is the 12.7mm sniper rifle which provides a good middle ground. The stealth element comes from the fact that they can't see you if you're shooting through a wall.
I just tried to re-do mission 4 to get the butterfly emblem and Ocelot said I already finished it, so it gave me the emblem AND THEN the foxhound emblem for free....
Ever since I got the foxhound emblem, I've just had that with no other stuff on it in its original color scheme as my emblem. It's just too cool to mess with it.
I know this joke has already been run to the ground quite a bit, but I needed to finish this. (who made the comic in the thumbnail by the way? I'd like to credit them.) oh and ep 31 spoilers I guess
Might want to add a spoiler warning.
Did I miss Kaz's backstory in PoOps or something, or is his relation to Big Boss explained later on in PW? I feel like you usually get an introduction to your support team but it was just like "also this dude is named Kaz"
So I was playing around with the water pistol, and I realized something- [sp]what if they added this to the game when people kept calling the Ground Zeroes tranquilizer the "water gun" due to the sounds it made? Either way it's pretty useful, taking down electronics and fires silently and effectively. It's like a more useful Banana![/sp]
Did I miss Kaz's backstory in PoOps or something, or is his relation to Big Boss explained later on in PW? Fuck, I'm so salty right now, MGSV [sp]could've been the mgs game of all time, but kojima/konami forced it to be the half-assed bastard it is today. I was expecting so much fan service (at least as much as in mgs4, but it never delivered). My god, it's a good stealth action game but I wanted some Solid Snake references not that mantis kid being the twin. God damn, and now everything's too late. I wanted to meet Frank Jaeger and Decoy Octopus. I'm seriously sad that it didn't deliver on those points. The potential was infinite. I REALLY hope there are some great DLCs involving the core of the series. Fuck....[/sp]
http://cubeupload.com/im/Coverop/20150912212825.png Ugh... I want Side Op 50!

Everyone complaining that TPP doesn't have enough cutscenes/fanservice need to go back and play mgs4 to see what a total mess that game was. It was impossible to take seriously and you had cutscenes that ran for hours in which literally nothing important happened.
I'm sad that you can't unlock Ocelot's revolver and Skull Face's lever action as usable weapons. (unless I missed something and you actually can)
so you just wanted the entire game to be fanservice pandering, even though fanservice pandering is 90% of what held MGS4 down?
Uh not really. [sp]In the scope of mgsv in game time, the fan service in mgs4 would amount to about 20% of mgsv. You can't argue that you're happy with what was delivered in mgsv regarding the characters central the the mgs series [/sp]
I'm sad that you can't unlock Ocelot's revolver and Skull Face's lever action as usable weapons. (unless I missed something and you actually can)
You can get Ocelot's as a preorder bonus, but on pc you can't get it (yet).
Kojima explicitly stated that he didn't want MGSV to rely on fanservice and the other games in the series so extensively.
Where does he mention that? The question is really, are you happy with what mgsv delivered? [editline]13th September 2015[/editline] Considering it's the last real entry in the mgs series
Where does he mention that? The question is really, are you happy with what mgsv delivered?
Yes, it stands up well on its own and doesn't rely on showing us every character from the series just for the sake of it. The story isn't as heavy as the past games but its still there and it makes up for by being the best playing game in the series.
what the fuck
That doesnt seem right, or thats some new bs they patched in. I have everything developed except some last pills/buddy equipment, longest was 2 hours and 21 minutes with 6 star equipment.
Where does he mention that? The question is really, are you happy with what mgsv delivered?
It was in interviews and so forth, Metal Gear Informer has plenty of tidbits over the past two years. And honestly, [sp]MGSV feels pretty much like the equivalent of trying to make the player feel awesome with a literal self-insert, but with TPP and GZ as a whole, all the games do are resolve two lingering plot points (Paz and the implications between Huey and Strangelove) and ultimately fail to do anything else besides the body double scheme that even resolves itself in the long run. It adds almost nothing to the series, not even a younger Gray Fox or Sniper Wolf or anyone, not even references. It's just.. there, hating all and being hated by all story-wise. Like, why bring Liquid and Psycho Mantis, but no one else from FOXHOUND, especially since retcons are existent already?[/sp]
Its a tape in PW
listening to this makes me appreciate kiefer's big boss voice so much more.
Honestly, I think the only bit of closure I need concerning MGS as a whole is [sp]what drives Venom Snake to go against Big Boss/Naked Snake? We've already confirmed that Naked Snake himself didn't have a fall from grace, but what causes Venom Snake to do so and thus go against the true Big Boss? While it could be the events of the 2nd parasite outbreak in Diamond Dogs combined with the revelation of Venom Snake being a phantom, it just seems very vague. And even then, the events of the 2nd outbreak aren't necessarily bad/evil, it's just an unfortunate outcome in order to prevent the parasites from spreading into the world, not to mention the events happened because of Huey in the first place.[/sp] Also [sp]I kind of wouldn't mind a game/add on where we play Naked Snake after Cyprus with him being voiced by Kiefer Sutherland. I honestly think Kiefer did a great job with the role of both Snakes, but it definitely seems like he'd be more suited to Naked Snake than Venom Snake.[/sp]

Alright, yeah I see what you're saying, however, my opinion is that there wasn't enough of a closure considering we wont see anthing more of this series, but yeah sure, I get it

[editline]13th September 2015[/editline] Considerong it's the last real entry in the mgs series
Yes. The game obviously can be better storywise, but even then this is still one of my favorite games. I've clocked more hours on it in a week than a lot of games get in a few months.

I think it's safe to assume Null Gray Fox and RAXA aren't canon, though :v:

[Sp]Venom never goes against Big Boss. In fact, he dies in place of Big Boss at the end of Metal Gear 1 in Outer Heaven. And what do you mean Big Boss himself didn't fall from grace? He still did all that shit in Metal Gear 1 and 2, including holding the world hostage with nuclear weapons, stealing oil research necessary to save the world from an energy crisis, kidnapping, war mongering, and using child soldiers. We just didn't get to see him fall from grace for ourselves like we thought we would.[/sp] Also, [sp]I really wish Venom Snake had previously been a character we gave a shit about, and not literally a player insert.[/sp]
