So I'm a bit conflicted about Quiet (story spoilers) [sp]I have a butterfly on my emblem, pretty much had one since I first started using Quiet on missions, even before I knew about her leaving and such. Considering it's important to the story that she leaves and considering there's a specific side op for her leaving, should I just change my emblem and let her go regardless to actually follow the canon course of the story ?[/sp]
[sp]I'm going to finish everything first, all side-ops and main missions and shit, then I'll do her stuff when I'm ready to put the game aside. She's my favourite buddy and it just doesn't seem right losing her. I hope they eventually add in a patch where you can still use her, regardless of story.[/sp]
Wow, Quiet EX is silly, she does so much damage that she can 5 shot a tank.
break the mission [sp]accelermin and tranq sniper D-Dog to Auto-spot her[/sp] get s-rank http://i.imgur.com/JEt7ecn.jpg fuck the police
Episode 6 was nerve racking... And I hear it gets worse. My nerves will not take it well... I S ranked tho on first try. With perfect stealth/no kills which was a surprise.
I'm not sure if it's just a precise hitbox or not, but my anti materiel nutshots aren't spawning female soldiers. Maybe it's a longer term thing or something.
Like with all tactics, the enemy need to call in HQ for them to adapt IIRC.
Been reading Kojimas tweets recently and you can tell he really loves his fans
I'm not sure if it's just a precise hitbox or not, but my anti materiel nutshots aren't spawning female soldiers. Maybe it's a longer term thing or something.
You mean shooting soldiers in the nuts will have enemies spawning female soldiers to combat this?
You mean shooting soldiers in the nuts will have enemies spawning female soldiers to combat this?
Someone a few pages back said that happens so I've been trying it out. Maybe I should actually let them report that some asshole is pulling sniper nutshots.
Fuck me, the enemy adaptiveness in this game is really quite annoying(ly good) Nowadays I have to aim right for their face to get a proper tranq shot off from +100m because literally everyone is fucking wearing helmets and flak jackets
(Mission 30+ spoilers) What the fuck [sp]Kaz, we finally killed Skullface and as soon as we get back to Mother Base you turn it into an Orwellian police state?[/sp]
You mean shooting soldiers in the nuts will have enemies spawning female soldiers to combat this?
I didn't even realize nut shots were a thing in this game, this adds a whole new layer of depth.
Also I'm only on mission 13-14 so far -- I keep hearing about FOB multiplayer invasions or something? Is this something I should start watching out for?
Do they still have ass shots?
I was noticing my deploy cost was huge! So I looked into lowering it. It seems to get lower as something (combat unit?) levels up. Also, building a custom gun from a crappy basic gun but giving it all the new parts does not increase cost, but does give you the benefits. The only thing you can't seem to improve is the damage, which for a lot of things is fine though. If you just want damage you can just grab the first rifle on the ground. Also, getting lower level support items can help a lot. The cardboard box gets a lot pricier for little benefit as you upgrade. With this in mind, I reduced deploy costs by 90%! Prior to that many ops could actually cost me money.

With that mission, it completely took me by surprise at the end when [sp]the Skulls just showed up. They kicked my ass so hard and I had to repeat from the checkpoint maybe 5 times til I finally killed them with grenades and lots of gunfire and one shot from the rocket launcher. Did you not kill the Skulls, btw?[/sp]
What are the adaptive fulton prevention methods? I've never had it level up, while literally every other thing they can level up was at one point maxed out. Fields of boilerplate wearing, machine gun toting murder machines.
Can you fulton all the APC's from that Rebel Offensive mission? If so, what's the best way to force them to stop aside from detonating a pack of C4 next to the road?
Park a tank(or any vehicle) around the bend north of the supply outpost, and put d-horse in front of it. Wait behind some bushes for all the apcs to pass through, and just fulton them when they start to honk at d-horse.
Finished! What a ride. Easily one of the best games I have ever played, definitely a top 5. Somethings really fucking pissed me off though and just felt incredibly lazy on Kojima/Konami's part. [sp]The biggest thing I have to critique is the missions you have to repeat on Extreme/Stealth etc. and the fact that some of them need to be played to move the story on. I fucking hated that immensely, like, just give me the story with no bullshit and give me those missions as Side-Ops - I'd be 100% cool with that and it would be extremely welcomed, don't shoe-horn it into the fucking game to make it appear longer or something. I wanted to progress through the story, not replay missions that I have absolutely no desire to play again, that's just not fun to me. Make them side-ops that have no affect on the story and I would be much happier, or hell, add a fucking difficulty setting. A lot of the game was the same shit over and over. Go here, extract this person, exit. I'm okay with this aslong as they made it worthwhile, like the Huey mission which ended up being incredible or the Code Talker mission that progressed the story immensely. It didn't bother me that much because as the game progressed I noticed myself becoming increasingly skilled at stealth, so it was nice to see me efforts pay off when I extracted someone with no detections. I wish there was more variety in the missions. Some missions were incredibly unique and it made it all the more fun. The boss fights were intense as fuck. I have never felt so helpless as I did against Sehalanthropus the first time I encountered it and the Skulls generally sent shit up my spine everytime they showed up. And the fucking opening credits that spoiled so much shit that I had to turn my head every time I started a mission. I don't want to know if the bosses are going to show up on that level because it kills the suspense knowing, "oh they'll show up any minute". The biggest one was when the Skulls snipers attacked me. So you're walking up this valley and Ocelot is all, "Yo, this is really quiet, no enemies around." - This would have been a great indicator of something about to go down without the player knowing. I'd have been on edge and then the fight would have been a complete surprise and been fucking rad. But no, credits at the beginning spoiled it for me, so I instantly knew that I was going to be fighting the Skulls in that area. Had I not known then ANYTHING could have attacked me. The Man on Fire could have fucking showed up and spooked the hell out of me because it was a dry valley, knowing there was no water around. The lack of cutscenes upset me. I'm generally new to the MGS series but I've watched all the youtube movies through and loved how in-depth the story got and how certain parts were like 40 minutes long. Sitting around listening to cassette tape after cassette tape was a little boring. Everytime there was a cutscene, it was pretty fucking perfect. I loved them. Snake not talking so much was a big let down. Even though he didn't really talk all that much in the other games, it was extremely noticeable. Kiefer Sutherland was incredible with the little he did, especially because I hated Hayter's voice. I always saw it as like Christian Bale's Batman voice - like he's trying to hide his identity by talking in this gruff accent. And the biggest thing - we didn't really see BB become the bad guy. I know MGS has a lot of morally grey characters but like, I was rooting for BB the entire game. If they really wanted to show us how far BB had fallen, they could have had him shoot the child soldiers in that one cutscene and that would have justified it I think. He even let Emmerich go after what he did, yeh he left him without his legs, but fuck, after what he did an execution would have been justified! Even killing his own men was justified to me. Whilst you're doing it, they were saying, "It's your choice." "Kill me Boss". Am I supposed to hate the REAL BB because he made Venom into a pawn? Because I didn't quite get that. In his tape he told Venom, "You are Big Boss, I am Big Boss" - Big Boss is a legacy, not so much a character, so Venom playing the character of Big Boss isn't a big deal in my eyes. And don't even get me started on the fucking missing ending. Why even show Psyco Mantis kid pick up the green vial if they're not going to show us wtf he was doing with it.[/sp] Apart from that, I loved it. The game was so much fun and I'm sad it's pretty much over. Onto the side-ops I haven't finished.
So I finally beat it. (MGS5 spoilers throughout) [sp]HOW THE FUCK COULD THEY HAVE LEFT THE ELI PLOT LIKE THAT?! Let's spend who knows how many missions and cutscenes building up for this intense turnaround and climactic battle to... throw it all in the fucking garbage at the last second. I even spent another three hours going through the remaining side-ops to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but nope, fuck me. I have not been so legit pissed in a long time. What a fucking let down. I suspected the whole two Snakes thing from the beginning because that wasn't hard to piece together, but that doesn't close the loop on anything. Now it's just 'Oh, Liquid had Sahelanthropus this entire time, but just wanted Rex so he could keep it in its package.'[/sp]
Is it possible to unequip all weapons? I wanna do some CQC only sneaking, but I can't seem to remove the hip weapon and the secondary weapon for some reason. Why would they create a single optional mission where you have no guns and then give you no option to remove all guns yourself?
[sp]He even let Emmerich go after what he did, yeh he left him without his legs, but fuck, after what he did an execution would have been justified![/sp]
[sp]Sadly, he couldn't kill the fucker because his death was already set up by MGS 2 and that would be a pretty big retcon.[/sp]

You can do the same for all that stuff like armor, different types of guns or even flashlights.
[sp]Sadly, he couldn't kill the fucker because his death was already set up by MGS 2 and that would be a pretty big retcon.[/sp]
Yeh I get that part. [sp]I still wish he'd have done something insane that just made people hate him.[/sp]
oh god these russians are retarded. "hey we're [sp]escorting this colonel to this base[/sp] why don't we blow up the truck with him unconscious nearby because we though we heard a noise there :downs:"
The PB shield is extremely broken. Snipers don't even counter it like they're supposed to because nothing will knock you down or make you drop it if you turn your back to them instead of raising it.

Doing some timing on knock outs in case anyone is interested. A CQC throw will stun a guy for 35 seconds. A choke will stun a guy for 9 minutes. A CQC slam from a hold will stun a guy for 35 seconds. A CQC combo from in front or behind will knock a guy out for 9 minutes. A pistol tranq headshot will knock a guy out for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. A sniper rifle tranq headshot will knock a guy out for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. An assault rifle rubber bullet headshot will stun a guy for 3 minutes and 10 seconds. A SMG rubber bullet headshot will stun a guy for 3 minutes and 10 seconds. A shotgun rubber slug/shot will stun a guy for 3 minutes and 10 seconds, it also throws him back about 2 or 3 metres. Smacking a guy with the arm swipe while lying down will knock him out for 35 seconds, it also takes 5 hits to knock them out so do anything else instead. And most importantly, dropping a supply crate on a guy's head will knock him out for 3 minutes and 5 seconds. I didn't bother testing body shots, and I have no idea if shooting different body parts with he tranq or stun rounds knock people out for longer. I'm assuming tranqs work like in Ground Zeroes where arm, leg, and torso shots increase the timer for tranqed enemies while headshots reset it. I also discovered, over the while I spent needlessly causing some man brain damage, that rain will eventually wash the blood off your body.
