Doing some timing on knock outs in case anyone is interested. A CQC throw will stun a guy for 35 seconds. A choke will stun a guy for 9 minutes. A CQC slam from a hold will stun a guy for 35 seconds. A CQC combo from in front or behind will knock a guy out for 9 minutes. A pistol tranq headshot will knock a guy out for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. A sniper rifle tranq headshot will knock a guy out for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. An assault rifle rubber bullet headshot will stun a guy for 3 minutes and 10 seconds. A SMG rubber bullet headshot will stun a guy for 3 minutes and 10 seconds. A shotgun rubber slug/shot will stun a guy for 3 minutes and 10 seconds, it also throws him back about 2 or 3 metres. Smacking a guy with the arm swipe while lying down will knock him out for 35 seconds, it also takes 5 hits to knock them out so do anything else instead. And most importantly, dropping a supply crate on a guy's head will knock him out for 3 minutes and 5 seconds. I didn't bother testing body shots, and I have no idea if shooting different body parts with he tranq or stun rounds knock people out for longer. I'm assuming tranqs work like in Ground Zeroes where arm, leg, and torso shots increase the timer for tranqed enemies while headshots reset it. I also discovered, over the while I spent needlessly causing some man brain damage, that rain will eventually wash the blood off your body.
Are you sure about the choke timing? One of the in-game hints specifically say that a choke lasts the same amount of time as a tranq hit.
Are you sure about the choke timing? One of the in-game hints specifically say that a choke lasts the same amount of time as a tranq hit.
I am absolutely sure. I thought the choke lasted for longer than it should have so I tested it twice, on two different people. I don't think it's supposed to last that long because you can clear every outpost just by choking people out and you'll practically never have to rush yourself.

I wonder what other hints could be false then?
Just to be sure I choked the guy out again. I'll post again when he wakes up with the time. Poor guy.
Konami will probably turn the (MGSV ENDING SPOILS) [sp]cut ending into a separate DLC that will come out in january, hopefully with another map set on the island eli takes over and about 20 main missions.[/sp]
So does that nutshot and female guard thing work?
[sp] mission 51 was cut but it had Eli with the mech, and he had the english parasite strain with him. This basically means that psycho mantis toke the vial and infected eli with it or so I assume [/sp]
Yeh I know that [sp]that's why I said about the missing ending at the bottom. Why even show that cutscene of Mantis taking it in the first place. They should have cut that part out aswell.[/sp]
So after getting through the game myself, while being a great game, it lacks some of the heart of previous MGS games. [sp] I think the open world set up is in part to blame, as it has had the same effect on other games that did a similar things. If feels far too stream lined, and I think Konami's meddling is in part to blame for that. I'm sure the next MGS would have been better and fixed the problems, but that's never going to happen now. The late game 'challenge' missions really annoyed me, and it seems like they were put in place of cut story missions. There's a lot of things that aren't tied up because of it. Also a great many missions felt pointless and there wasn't a lot of objective variety.[/sp]
I have no results so far, I've even stopped using the anti materiel rifle. It might not actually work, but I'll give an update later if I come across a female soldier from my dickshots.
Just to be sure I choked the guy out again. I'll post again when he wakes up with the time. Poor guy.
Yeah, 9 minutes on the dot he woke up. Fitting that most of the time baby sitting him to see how long the stun lasts Only Time Will Tell was playing.
Dont't know if these tidbits have been posted yet, but if you look closely at the window in the ACC you can [sp] see your reflection, except it isn't. It looks like the face of my avatar is showing instead of Big Boss'. I also found a tape next to a toilet that is nothing more then a recording of a soldier having the worst shit of his life. KOJIMAAA [/sp]

I just noticed that in the MGO trailer, the player uses a grenade that automatically marks people around it, can you develop that at some point in singleplayer? I've not seen anything like that in the R&D menu.
http://www.franchiseherald.com/articles/37677/20150903/silent-hills-guillermo-del-toro-hideo-kojima.htm This is cool at the very last, confirmation of what I posted a few weeks ago
Didn't Kojima post an image of BB in TPP in the GZ Sneaking Suit without his horn, prosthetic arm, or scars? Does anyone know how to do that, or was that another thing taken out of the game?

Okay, so I've already extracted some soldiers from [sp]Africa[/sp] after the first mission there. And they already [sp]speak Kikongo.[/sp] Should I [sp]quarantine[/sp] them now, or after the mission where you find out about that shit? Will the [sp]disease spread before I start that mission?[/sp]
SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRITY OF THIS POST, EVEN THE CUT MISSION. I finished the game and what a ride, I'll give my opinion below. The Cons: [sp]Am I alone in thinking the 2nd Chapter was really underwhelming? 1st Chapter had me engrossed but all these side missions and repetitive missions killed the flow for me in 2. Also there was barely anything new to surprise you because the trailers basically gave away all the best moments of Chapter 2 in great detail. The only things that were a surprise were the ending (obviously), the hallway scene being apart of the Parasite outbreak, Huey's story, and Quiet's ending. Which leads me to... Quiet's ending was super contrived and is the only plothole in the game. Its a huge stain on what's a surprisingly well wrapped story. Why did Quiet leave? It was for vengeance right? Well then how did she get captured? WHY was the reason for Snake being in near death because of a fucking cobra bite? If there was dangerous snakes in the game like MGS3 this wouldn't have been so asinine. How come Snake didn't get infected with the English-strain she had when she spoke plenty of English? Why was that even necessary in the first place, why didn't she just use Snake's radio to call someone who knows more languages than good ol' Murican Pequod? Even if there was no other choice wouldn't she still infect people when she inevitably dies? Why couldn't they have just made Quiet not showing up in the rest of the games been justified as Miller killing her, or her trying to kill Big Boss or Snake when she learns there's 2 of them?[/sp] The Pros: [sp]OH MY GOD THAT ENDING! OH MY GOD THAT TWIST, OH MY GOD THE SONG'S LYRICS FITS SO WELL. OH MY GOD ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD. Code Talker was awesome, Ocelot was amazing as usual, Miller was a big ol' grump, Snake was great in his own and I had no problems with him being scarce on words, Snake and Quiet's relationship was sweet, everything revolving around Skullface was great, and the whole Eli and Psycho Mantis origin story rocked because it helped explain why he was such a good soldier. (including the cut 51st mission). The tapes after the Truth were amazing to listen to, in fact all of the tapes were great and added really good material to the overall story, unlike Peace Walker. Also can we talk how great the gameplay is? I mean yea it started to get a little repetitive at the end once you're overpowered but you got to admire how well they transferred MGS into the open world. Its a well made game for sure, balancing problems aside. Oh yeah, that ending also solved the question on how Big Boss survived MG1 in a really cool way.[/sp] Finally a question; [sp]I'm guessing Zero wanted Outer Heaven to be built Big Boss to live because he was manipulating it all to turn the world as he saw fit, and wasn't just being nice?[/sp] Overall I played the game for 50+ hours and don't regret it. Pretty good for a game included with a Graphics Card.
Late game spoilers [sp]I had to shoot my own men as they saluted me to the peace walker theme, god dammit Kojima ;.;7[/sp]

I'm not great at CQC stunning enemies. I always alert soldiers nearby when I attempt it. If I just use my rubber bullet SMG / Tranq Gun, I'm way harder to detect and it makes taking over bases easier for me. Plus, I always feel like CQC'ing a guy and leaving him stunned is just gonna bite me in the ass later on, so I'll either Fulton him if I like his stats, or just pop a bullet in his head if I don't. One of these days I'll clear a base completely non-lethally, cause I want to get S ranked in at least one mission.
it was probabably just the GZ model that they hadn't added the horn and arm
It was pretty recent when he posted that, I think. You sure it isn't a possible thing to do in the game?

If they're held up and lying down, they'll stay down indefinitely until another helps him or the base goes on alert.
Post 46 stuff: [sp]So there is this image that's on /MGG/ that I think might be on to something regarding the ending. http://i.imgur.com/pBZzovN.jpg I remember when playing through the hospital the first time and saying to my self "Ishmael is totally the medic from the end of GZ". You can see it's his face, and how could Ishmael be BB if he has both eyes. If it turns out that the ending is a ruse then I think that could be sick as fuck.[/sp]

if i fulton the car/prisoner in mission 10 have i messed up? it didnt tick off the objective or trigger a failure state but the guide says he can only be chopper/land recovered
