Some unused Keifer Sutherland dialogue
Spoilers
Could these be for Metal Gear Online? It'd make sense.
Honestly (ending spoilers) [sp]it does make sense when you know that he isn't the real Big Boss.[/sp]
(ending spoilers)[sp]Yeah, I read that he isn't the real Big Boss even before the game came out (whoops). But still, even that in mind...wouldn't ANYONE have some kind of reaction to what's going on? Maybe there's something that happens by the end of the game that will change my mind.[/sp]
Honestly (ending spoilers) [sp]it does make sense when you know that he isn't the real Big Boss.[/sp]
That... but the MGS humor is mostly absent...
It really is a shame how little Big Boss talks. For the most part I can kinda just go with it, but one part in particular really pissed me off (Mission 30-31 spoilers) [sp]Finally, we get to talk to Skullface instead of him just getting pissy and trying to kill Big Boss. But wait, no, all that happens is that Skullface has a (enjoyable) monologue that goes on for a good 5+ minutes, during which time Big Boss does not say anything, nor has any visible reaction. Then we have a really odd scene wherein "Sins of the Father" plays while Big Boss and Skullface have a staring contest (seriously, should have been a cutscene while that song played instead of a static camera). THEN Psycho Mantis takes control of the Metal Gear and wipes out everyone in the area and chases Big Boss down...and again, at no point does he speak or change his facial expression to something other than total stoicism. Really took me out of an otherwise awesome 15 minute series of events.[/sp]
on the one hand I totally agree with you, but it did remind me a little of (Evangelion spoilers, of all things) [sp]the bit where Shinji is holding Kaworu, the one person who ever really showed any kind of compassion or kindness towards Shinji, who is also a few steps away from bringing the world to an end, and we're watching the two sort of stare at one another, and as an audience are kind of given the breathing room to truly think about what Shinji is feeling, trying to think of the thought processes he's obviously going through inside the Eva unit and stuff[/sp]
basically we have [sp]a time period with no dialogue so we can think through what's happening and try to figure out what BB is thinking after hearing all of Skullface's plans. Like, it's a point where we're like "oh, shit, what's he thinking? what's he gonna do? could he really agree with Skullface? is he thinking this / that / the other?[/sp]
but yeah you could argue it's a kind of pretentious way of looking at things and that I'm stretching it a bit. I definitely would've wanted some more dialogue from BB in that scenario.
early side ops spoilers but spoilers none the less
it took me so many tries to capture that damn [sp]brown bear[/sp] I ended up having to just time an attack with the stun arm perfect
<Quiet spoiler> [sp]Apparently people have found a way to mod the files to bring her back. It'd probably be smart to back up files and saves, though.[/sp] Check it out - http://pastebin.com/KUKF7Ted
I'm on that mission with quiet, and I have one thing to say.
fuck tanks
here's the secret:
[sp]bombard em[/sp]
Jesus Christ, I needed an Anesth. specialist so I redid the Malak Mission. Despite JUST doing a dispatch for shit like Riot Armour, every single enemy has it equipped. Riot Armour shouldn't make them take tank shells like they were just a small grenade, and walk away with everything but their helmet.
God these enemies are terrible
how would you put this into the game?
More info about it here. Still a Quiet spoiler, folks.
[sp]I can confirm here and now that this works. I just did it and the game treats it like she never left. She's selectable in sortie again, R&D can develop stuff for her, she's in the helicopter and she's back at Mother Base.[/sp]
I'm still surprised Kojima went through with the true ending
[sp]It was really obvious even before GZ was released, would've expected a better ruse from Kojima of all people.[/sp]
Decided to fuck around and use D-Walker to rampage all over different bases and as I returned to Mother Base it turns out I got all stinky. [sp]Though Quiet stopped Ocelot from throwing the water on me and instead got to shower with her. This game is great.[/sp]

[sp]It's basically just a rehash of the MGS2 ruse. Although, I can dig it for the fact that we the player have shaped Big Boss's legendary status by playing the games, but that's just dumb for the actual plot of the series.[/sp]

[sp]I mean what can you do, change it? By the time GZ was announced, the story was probably finalized and couldn't be affected. Of course, I'm sure there was a lot /more/ he wanted to do with it, but couldn't.
Also, I feel that, had he not focused so much money into the Fox Engine, we would have seen the story finished up more cohesively than what it did now. Maybe even another game, but that's stretching it.[/sp]
I just shot 5 honey bee rockets, 12 grenade launcher grenades, and 9 frag grenades at a tank and it still wouldn't be destroyed.
And it proceeds to one-shot me.
This isn't fun.
I saw some of the awesome Phantom Pain gameplay and I felt like I've avoided this series for long enough (aside from about 20 minutes of dicking around in mgs3 a few years back.) I didn't want to shit on Kojimas story so I've been scraping as many of the games from different sources as possible to play them in order, right now I've purchased MGS1 from the PSN store and borrowed my brothers PS3, however it's on it's last legs after 2 YLOD scares (I fixed it both times)
I'm having a fucking blast playing MGS1, I can see why people like it so much, fighting psycho mantis was annoying because I was using a shitty third party USB controller that didn't have a PS button so I couldn't actually swap the ports :v: but I did the other method and managed to pass through, the only issue I've got right now is the PS3 is on it's last legs, the fan is at maximum speeds at all times, It's leaning at an angle with a desk fan blowing on the intake and I'm not sure how much longer it's going to last, but I suppose it's adding to the excitement because I feel like I need to do all the missions as efficiently as possibly so I can beat the game and move over to the 360 HD collection before the PS3 shits the bed :v:

I used bombardment for the first time all game just to get rid of that tank.
I'm so confused right now. [sp]I'm on my way to talk to the quiet in a side op, and all of a sudden i'm in an alt timeline where Paz didn't explode, jumped out the chopper, survived slamming into water. [/sp] This game just broke my brain.
Quick question, if I deploy a vehicle for a mission and board Pequod to exfiltrate, will it auto Fulton out like D-Horse or D-Walker? I've never actually deployed a vehicle so I don't know

Don't use the Honey Bee it blows. If it's Mission 45 you're talking I used the Grom I was given, then I called in the FB MR R-Launcher from Mother Base which made things easier. When I had to reload I sat behind the metal prison huts. Try that I guess, I did it in one try.
huh? Never seen that
So the true ending isn't actually hard to get? Because I just got it I think and I thought it was super hard, only get S ranks or stuff like that.

Yes it does

True ending is just like any other mission. It's just beyond the main 31 missions
So, sorry if this is already well known, but I haven't heard anything about it. Kind of blew my mind now when I accidentally came across it.
The song that plays in the beginning of Ground Zeroes, "Here's To You", is also in MGS4, but sounding way different. The lyrics are the same though.
It's dumb for likely being the final game too. It doesn't really close the loop on anything.
It's basically a detour after Peace Walker's story so they could make a Peace Walker 2.0 and we end up in the exact same place as we were in at the end of that - The founding of Outer Heaven. But then in both of them it craps out before delivering on the climax of the entire freaking series. :v:
TPP is a larger game but I'm pretty sure even Peace Walker has more content overall. For all its flaws they can fix this with an MG 1 story DLC that ties into the earlier game.
I'd pay money for it, Konami
I'm honestly thinking that Kojima wanted to stop at Peace Walker (you know, after the other times he wanted to stop), but he just had to keep going and making more. It's quite possible that this was an attempt to get pushed out of the metal gear series, but I think it went too far.
On a different note, where would all the invoices be? Been looking around for them but I don't know how far I am from completion.
Finished Mission: 31[sp]Sahelanthropus, first end[/sp]
Before i continue i really would like to know at what mission [sp]Do we lose Quiet as Buddy so that i can use her for some S rank. Since it seems like we can't get her back?[/sp]
So do you have to [sp]slaughter a portion of your staff at some point because of the parasite?[/sp]
True ending is just like any other mission. It's just beyond the main 31 missions
Well I just played it but I heard before that it is hard to unlock, like having to S-Rank mission and (almost) do everything etc. just surprised me when I simply got it while playing.
I'm wishing and hoping that someday we can see more of this game with the same characters.
This one was truly a pinnacle of amazing gameplay. The engine is nice too, and finally PC support.
It's a shame if it stops here.
I have heard Kojima wishes to make an open world MGS1 in this format. Would be neat.
Mission 46 (I THINK) [sp]Soooo why the fuck am I replaying the prologue [/sp]
While I could probably rant about the disappointing parts of the game, there was still a lot that I really liked.
[sp]The Paz questline and her secret tape with Skull Face definitely made her a lot more interesting. The scene with Quiet and Venom playing in the rain was super hammy and cheesy but heartwarming as all hell, never thought we'd see Big Boss that giddy with someone else. I even really liked the Zero tapes in the end. After all the shit that he and Big Boss have been through and the animosity they felt toward eachother, Zero still cared that Big Boss left and wished they could still be friends. Even if he didn't realize it, Zero was probably the first one to take a step towards The Boss's dream by trying to make peace with Big Boss.[/sp]
