It took me 3/4 side ops to trigger missions past there
So what are the actual requirements to get the "No Traces" bonus on a mission?

Wow it's almost like you can play as your motherbase soldiers.

From what I can gather, basically don't have any interactions with the enemy whatsoever. No suspicion, no tranqing, no stealing resources from them, no fultons, anything enemies notice is different from their usual routine. I believe that also goes for noticing prisoner escapes.

I feel like news sites make these just to piss people off.
I still say MGS3 is the best. Nothing will ever top the Cobra Unit for me.

I feel like the fear and the end could have had a better backstory to them but they were good at being what they were meant to be, bosses.
It's most likely better on PC but on PS4 Quiet's eyes are really god damn detailed.

someone talked about the soundtrack a few pages back, I don't know how people say the soundtrack isn't prevalent

It's a shame Fox Engine makes hair and foliage look like shit,
I don't get why they have to dither everything.
Major Ending spoilers and my opinion/some ideas about it here
[sp]Ya know when I first got the ending I was really disappointed and felt sorta cheated by finding out I wasn't actually playing as Big Boss, that none of what we did was actually important to his storyline and that the real Big Boss did all the important stuff for Outer Heaven/ZanzibarLand off camera, but I realized something just a little while ago that I think allows me to not hate it as much.
The twist is sooorta like MGS2. While it is QUITE different, it's the same in that you thought you were playing as someone only to find out you're gonna/are playing as someone else. In MGS2, you find out at the beginning of the game, and Raiden ends up getting his own story, his own character development, and has his own conflicts against an interesting villain. The problem with MGSV in my opinion is that the truth is just sorta shoved on you last minute in a single scene, at the end of the game, making it feel like none of it really mattered because you weren't who you thought you were. Sure there were hints, but they were sorta out of the way, and you didn't really want to believe it was the case anyway. Plus, it ends with Venom Snake being sorta satisfied with Big Boss, which doesn't really allow you to relate 'cause the ending makes you feel a bit cheated (or at least it did me).
We know a lot of the game got cut though, including a whole area, and likely a lot more in terms of story and missions.
Imagine that the entire games is as it is, but during the mirror cutscene, Venom decides he doesn't like it, and bats the cassette player away or something.
Imagine the game continues, and the plot then becomes you dealing with NOT being Big Boss, knowing that your life is pretty much a lie.
Venom eventually confronts Ocelot and Kaz about it, at which point Ocelot remembers his hypnosis and confirms the fact. They can then have the discussion they had in the after credits talk. They'd continue helping you, but as time goes on Venom eventually decides to take it straight to Big Boss, and try to take him down (keeping with the Revenge theme), Kaz is all for it and helps you as he feels Boss betrayed him (allowing him to stay your contact as always) and Ocelot even gets to do his normal Double Crossing thing, against YOU, as he goes to work for the real Big Boss (you could even have a boss fight against him). The kids loose-end can be tied up by Venom somehow telling Eli about the situation, and them using their common enemy/hatred of Big Boss to team up.
There could be a sub-plot involving Miller's possible Cipher relation, and Code-talker, and eventually you get to a final battle against Big Boss, providing a satisfying last fight (considering the base game's final fight is just like 30 armored vehicles), that's even a bit interesting because you're technically fighting yourself. All while showing Big Boss as a villain like we expected, and as he was in MG 1 and 2.
It could even end the way Kojima had it end already, Big Boss manages to talk to Venom and convince him not to kill him, maybe he's proud at how good you've gotten, then goes on to say something like them both being demons, the world only has room for one Boss, but maybe the world doesn't need to know. At which point they each run their own "Outer Heaven," (MG1 and MG2) whether Venom is still resentful or otherwise.
Maybe I'm just headcannoning too much :v, and maybe it's just because I thought it up, but I do think a plot-strain and ending like this (at least for me), would make the big twist a lot more satisfying, tie up loose plot strains, and would give a lot more gameplay satisfaction as well, at least in terms of bossfights (the main game has like maybe 3 real boss fights, then 4 fights against the skulls, 3 of which are basically the same thing, and one of which is sorta like Quiet x4).
Personally I'd really enjoy the "you're not Big Boss" twist if something like that happened[/sp]
What do you guys think?

It seems less like FOX Engine and more like a stylistic shader effect.
Just got a stink reaction at MB.
I thought I knew what was coming but I really didn't.
do the Skulls adapt to your tactics like soldiers do?
I used grenade launchers and rockets to kill them the first two encounters, and now they take virtually no damage from explosions - but they fall apart against D-Walker's minigun.

the problem with your entire writeup is that you missed that [sp]the last cutscene plays as solid snake is shooting outer heaven up, it's a decade later that venom has accepted that he's "big boss", he's been ruined completely as a person
that's kind of the point, he was the better big boss until he knew that he wasn't him [/sp]
Troy Baker is a real gem.
What really happened was [sp]when Ocelot hypnotized himself, he also turned himself into a cowboy by accident. That's why the persona is gone by MGS1[/sp]

[sp]Ah, I must have missed the memo on that last scene. Still I believe something generally along the lines of a Boss vs Boss plotline could've worked. That particular problem could be addressed by the ending cassette cutscene being saved until the very end, and the real Big Boss getting away during said hypothetical final confrontation and Venom creating his own Outer Heaven for another reason (I saw something in this thread someone said believing that Venom made MG1 Outer Heaven as a heaven for soldiers because his feelings toward Big Boss mistreating him.)
Again it's just some idea I had that I thought could work. Not like any of it's canon or anything :v[/sp]
EDIT:
[sp]Aaaand just remembered that Venom finding out he's Big Boss wasn't till then as well, duh. Welp my idea would definitely need some re-writing.
Still think it's interesting, most ideas intending to make something a bit better end up involving some re-writing anyway.[/sp]

[sp]The ending serves to show Big Medic, i.e: you, the player, that you are Big Boss. You and Snake are both this legendary character, crafted from both of your experiences and accomplishments. TBH, I personally love the ending because I am Big Boss and who doesn't want to be Big Boss?
Also, I don't like how people consider Big Boss evil in any way, he's never been portrayed that way, nor has any villain in the metal gear universe, even Skullface. It was never black and white in any of the games so the fact people consider it that way is baffling[/sp]

Yeah I can get that. [sp]The player being Big Boss thing that is, and I normally like it when villains aren't Black and White evil anyway. Guess I just feel that the you 'being' big boss could've been done better. At least for me it didn't really give off that impression, guess you can't please everyone though.
Personally I do still dislike the lack of proper bossfights. For me Metal Gear Solid was (other than all around good gameplay and stealth of course) the game that always had the cool, interesting Boss Battles. TPP definitely had that, but there wasn't nearly as much as there normally is.[/sp]

the engine does a horrible job on alpha textures on purpose, it takes a lot of load off the vram
if you look at it, there's also virtually no detail to small objects in the world, the game has this werd slapped together but not really look, it's got a concept art feel to it and I think thats great tbh
its certainly better than the peace walker bossfights lol
Pfaha, I have to agree on that one. At least on the (spoilered just in case) [sp]Non-AI fights.[/sp]
[sp]The idea probably just started from imagining Venom Vs Big Boss. MGS normally always has a one-on-one final battle involving some sort of CQC/melee combat. And a Bossfight against Big Boss in full 3d would be pretty cool.[/sp]
yeah and when ocelot [sp]goes on to tell him like "yeah john this is gonna happen" he's like "cool lets do it man ill make sure to have a lot of child soldiers too"[/sp]
[sp]He isn't happy about it. The only reason he agrees to it is because it's what his soldiers would want. Cipher and by extension The Patriots need to end and that was the best option available.[/sp]
