A reset would be fine by me, but losing redpower would be really shit. Personally, I don't think I'd keep playing without redpower.

That's why I think staying on 1.4.7 would be wisest.
Does the 1.5.2 beta pack include more mods?
At the cost of Redpower, Advanced Machines (this doesn't include the Induction Furnace which is vanilla IC2), ExtraBees (but not ThaumicBees. Still, loss of the genetic machines), GravGun (but not portal gun), Nether Ores, Nuclear Control for IC2, we can get various new mods like Power Converters, SecretRooms mod, TubeStuff, Wireless Redstone, Xeno's mod, the Voxel mods and Xycraft (:v:)
We can get: Extra Utilities, Natura, OpenCCSensors, Thaumic Tinkerer, Tinker's Construct, as well as updates to all the mods not listed such as finally being able to battle the Ur-Ghast of Twilight Forest.
I'm pretty on the fence about the idea, but I'd be all for a vote for/against it.
I don't want a new map at this point. But I will happily help remove xycraft blocks if you need a hand?
I voted reset, despite being very much anti-reset before. If it really is that much trouble to clear Xycraft, then we should just go with a more sane option and just reset.
I still would rather keep the current map, so if you guys are close to being done, then I say keep the map. But otherwise, just reset. Maybe give a bit of a "starter pack" to players in the new map?
Nisse is currently making a plugin that may help us remove xycraft from the current map, however this can still take some time, so the decision is up to you guys.
Also what is the exact reason you're not just relying on Forge's replace-with-air thing?

Manual removal is not an option by any means at all.

You mean the one that doesn't work and crashes us? You honestly think we haven't tried the simplest options first? :v:

Oh, I thought you were crashing from trying to replace the ores with stone and such.
Personally, I'd vote wait until an ETA can be more or less gauged, then settle for a reset if things continue taking a while. I've known servers to be down for a week before to fix things.

I have an idea that might work.

I'm curious: How does your plugin work? Does it remove xycraft blocks as they are loaded from the chunk by players moving around or something?
I'm curious: How does your plugin work? Does it remove xycraft blocks as they are loaded from the chunk by players moving around or something?
When a chunk loads, I remove all blocks matching a "blacklist" in it.

So that would mean the end of the downtime, as it would work as players are playing?
Because that sounds fucking brilliant! :D
At this point I just want to play soon, reset or not. I'm having withdrawal symptoms.
I don't mind if it resets. I'l find an ocean biome and build a replica of the Big Shell.

I propose Profan's above vote be delayed until this idea is tested.

That's the plan, I'm giving him three days

This is starting to sound like an execution.
Oh man, I'm gonna miss fabricators. If this is removing all the blocks why don't you just remove the tanks? what other problems does Xycraft supposedly cause?
Xycraft in general causes a lot of memory leaks
The Quartz crystals aren't nice to the framerates of people with low to mid-end computers either.
I maybe new to server but i have built a great deal, however I agree with oth reset is ok by me if it means i get to play. if you could come up with a neat starter pack of matts that would be awesome
The most we would usually do in regards to starter materials would be wooden tools, but even that is rare. But these are exceptional times, so it's possible.
Don't keep your hopes up for starter materials, though.
meh its no big but a boy can dream :P

Those things are just an annoyance, I don't even know what they're used for except for maybe traps.
What mod are they from?
[editline]25th June 2013[/editline]
Also personally I wouldn't mind a reset, sad though since I finally got a little base going. Still, it'd be fun to rebuild a new spawn town and not feel incredibly incompetent because I don't have full power armor and tools :v:
If you guys are willing to make yer own stinkin' modpack, Immibis's Microblocks is a good replacement for RP2's microblocks. Latest versions of Railcraft also include their own versions of Basalt and Marble, Immibis also released a replacement for red alloy wire/logic system, plus MFR's RedNet system...
[editline]25th June 2013[/editline]
Plus you would have more control over what actually goes in the mod pack.

The pointy quartz crystals are from xycraft, the block ones are from AE. The pointy ones are literally useless, except for killing spiders on your roof then.

I know that I was one of the advocates of the reset so my voice probably doesn't carry a lot of weight, but looking at the vote so far tells me that people are really eager to play, with or without a reset, so maybe postponing whatever action is going to be taken 3 days isn't the most popular choice.
