I wish minecraft had that same special flare to me it used to have. I don't know what's happened. Lousy terrain generation maybe? I also think it's silly how spread out everyone is too. This applies to pretty much every server ever
It's just minecraft was such a different concept when it came out, once you've played it for so long now you're likely just tired of the game. The whole spreading out part was just a natural process in regards to how people started building once machines were introduced with mods, people wanted their own base and even if they did trust other people with their equipment, they couldn't always build close to others due to the space everything takes up, how some equipment is so volatile it can take out a whole countryside and so on. Hell, even before machines it happened somewhere during the alpha when people realised you could use the F3 debug to check coordinates to navigate to places, instead of having to follow directions or roads you could have coordinates sent over chat and follow them over any terrain, negating the need to build your place close to others so they could find you. tl;dr minecraft was new and exciting, you've played it for too long, you've become older, it isn't new and exciting anymore. [editline]28th August 2013[/editline]
Unleash FTB Unleashed all over this server please.
It's a possibility, I know it's going to be a temporary affair as all game servers are, but it's possible. [editline]28th August 2013[/editline] Also, today I've been hosting minecraft servers for 1120 days or 3 years and 24 days!
do people still play here or is the FP minecraft community slowly dying?
The thing that keeps me interested right now is that FTB offers SO MUCH content, I haven't even touched the surface of everything that it has to offer, and that's whats keeping me interested.
I haven't played in a while, Minecraft's just gotten too boring for me, I feel like I've done all I've wanted to. Hopefully when 1.7 comes out the new terrain will be enough to keep me interested.
do people still play here or is the FP minecraft community slowly dying?
practically dead, myself included
As the server population declined my interest followed. Just started playing other games more.
Honestly, I think its just the fact that we've done most if not all the things that FTB Ultimate had to offer. I'm sure interest would spark up again if we switched to Unleashed.
Honestly, I think its just the fact that we've done most if not all the things that FTB Ultimate had to offer. I'd definitely come back and play on Profan's again if it were updated to that.
Unleashed is for 1.5.2 and I would personally rather wait for a 1.6 pack.
I agree with rama. A 1.6 pack would be enough to get me to start playing again.
What exactly would be different on 1.6 with Unleashed? I haven't really followed it besides the fact that it has horsies
What exactly would be different on 1.6 with Unleashed? Also this: "Regional difficulty: The longer you spend in one area, the harder it gets." We'd also get all the 1.5 update stuff which includes hoppers, nether quartz, daylight sensor, various other redstone devices and changes, skeletons shoot faster when closer, nerfed bonemeal, and weaker zombie = stronger zombie. These are just things that caught my eye in the changelog, and some of them seem pretty moot on a FTB server tbh since there's already an alternative in some of the mod packs.
Vanilla features are not the reason I want to wait, it's the updated mods.

You'd be tucked away in your little super base most of the time.
Do people still play on this server? or did it get deserted like the other one did?
I'm waiting for the switch to unleashed, tons of awesome stuff in that. Really the most fun time is when there is a fresh map.
I'd rather go with Unhinged tbh, Unleashed seems too cluttered.
I'd rather go with Unhinged tbh, Unleashed seems too cluttered.
Unleashed has Tinker's Construct though.
Unhinged has gregtech though.
All the more reason not to use it.
How dare you!
All the more reason not to use it.
Give a solid reason as to why not use GregTech. And don't you even mention anything about the author.
Give a solid reason as to why not use GregTech. And don't you even mention anything about the author.
Why not, when the author is a perfectly fucking valid reason? Plus the fact he likes to fuck around with everyone else's mod. And come on, who the fuck wants wood to only make 2 planks.
Plus the fact he likes to fuck around with everyone else's mod. And come on, who the fuck wants wood to only make 2 planks.
I do for the sake of the challenge.
Plus the fact he likes to fuck around with everyone else's mod.

List of Changes to other Mods than IC² These are all changes I do to other Mods per default. And I mean ALL of them: Buildcraft Quarry Recipe changed to contain Diamond Drill (Configurable). Forestrys Bronze Crafting Recipe. Universal Electricity Plates to use the GT Ways of getting Plates, what is even a Buff. That is ALL. I change NOTHING else of other Mods per default. If another Mod decides to use GT Components, then it's the Mod causing that and not GT. If you stumble upon "Gregorium Ingot" then it's RichardG adding that Stuff, and not me. Do you still think I am the one nerfing everything?
I like the added machines but screwing with other basic stuff like wood, bronze, buckets, etc just means you have to spend even more time doing basic resource gathering, which frankly is rather boring when you could be making machines instead. It also gives you practically zero reason to use many of the IC2 machines when others that perform just as good or better can be had for a much lower cost, I don't want to waste my time grinding extra resources when I could be building stuff. Also Tinkers Construct is so much fun.
Also Unhinged is severely lacking in mods as well. Besides maybe some of the basic FTB core, it doesn't have much you can do when on the other hand, Unleashed has those (except GT) plus
BackTools Bibliocraft Buildcraft addons (Denpipes, Gatecopy, Logistics Pipes) ComputerCraft Dartcraft DeathTimer (Disabled by default) Enchanting Plus (Disabled by default) EE3 ExtraUtils Forestry addons (Extra Bees/Trees, Magic Bees, PluginsForForestry) Forge Multipart Gravity Gun Hats and Hats Stand (Disabled by default) IC2 addons (Advanced Power Management, Advanced/Compact Solars, GraviSuite, MFFS (Calclavia)) Modular Powersuit addons Natura Nether Ores (Disabled by default) Obsidiplates OmniTools Portal Gun Power Converters (Disabled by default) Soul Shards Switches Thaumcraft 3 & addons (Thaumic Tinkerer) Tinker's Construct Vending Block (Disabled by default) Wireless Redstone CBE Xeno's Reliquary (Disabled by default)

Of course Gregtech doesn't change much in other mods, he doesn't need to after he's demanded so few "balanced" mods in the Unhinged pack. That also doesn't even begin to ignore the fact he changes several vanilla things that mods rely on. You literally need at least a basic IC2 setup just to get anything that requires a block of iron - which is most of factorization. Sure, I'll run through this one mod so I can use this completely unrelated one and spend extra resources that I have nearly no future use for!
Half the point of gregtech is to make things harder to encourage you to use the machines provided and advance in the tech tree. If you're not gonna do that then ofcourse there's no point to using gregtech.
Half the point of gregtech is to make things harder to encourage you to use the machines provided and advance in the tech tree. If you're not gonna do that then ofcourse there's no point to using gregtech.
My problem with gregtech is that, regardless of what he says about minimal direct modifications to other mods (which shouldn't be a thing in the first place), if you're using a pack with gregtech in it, you have to use it. Asking for gregtech to be on the server means that anyone who doesn't like gregtech, or doesn't want to use it can't play on the server because there's no way around it. You shouldn't be forced to use every single mod in a modpack to which you do not control the mods in, but gregtech enforces that. If I decided to, in current modpacks, play without Factorization I can do so. If I wanted to play without AE, I can do so. Every single mod, except IC2 because Gregtech enforces it, can be played without easily, but we all know Greg can't have anything that isn't his way. [editline]3rd September 2013[/editline] If you're desperate to reduce the mod count and more or less alienate a bunch of potential players just because you feel the game is too easy, go make your own server. [sp]And I mean that in the nicest way possible, seriously[/sp]
