Got shit load of time in hands!Fire up the servers :v:
So as far as the optional mods in Yogscast Complete go, the server would need Cauldron(formerly known as MCPC) and Mobius Core + Opis(For troubleshooting sources of server lag), and then I'd think we'd want AdvancedGenetics(was in Monster), Logistics Pipes(because why not?), Not Enough Codecs and Rock Crusher Metal Dusts Add-On(makes the Rock Crusher actually useful).
And then I reckon we'd need to decide about the following mods:
Mystcraft: Yes, custom ages and all that, but everything other than that there are other ways(cooler ways, IMO) to do it than via Mystcraft. Plus it'd save a bit of hassle with having to delete the random ages all the time etc. Pros for having it is I guess we could do stuff like lava ages, or a void age that isn't the End.
Sync: A cool mod in theory, however the last thing I remember from when I played on Monster was someone getting glitched by this mod and losing all their inventory, yet becoming invulnerable. I'd guess for stability's sake not use this mod.
Morph: Another cool mod that is actually pretty stable for the concept. Allows you to kill mobs and take their form, along with bonuses according to the form, such as squid form breathing underwater(and going super fast in water), bats having creative mode flight...which is the main issue. You kill a bat, and you basically lose all need for a jetpack. There is a config option to disable flight until you visit the nether, but the last time I tried it, it didn't seem to work. Plus, it's fairly easy to just borrow someone else's nether portal.
My two quid on which mods to enable/disable.

I agree with the Cauldron, Opis, Advanced Genetics, Logistics Pipes and Rock Crusher addon. There's probably a few server plugins that Profan was using last time that we need.

I wouldn't count lava age as a pro, it creates a hella lag and problems. But we can disable world creation for people and just create a void age if people want one but that's a bit pointless adding a whole mod just for a void age where eventually we'll kill the dragon and get the void anyway.

Morph: can disable all mob abilities in the config, such as zombies can still attack if you are one. It makes it more of a fun mod like the hats one instead of being really easy to get pretty strong abilities.
And having Advanced genetics makes up for that by actually requiring effort and work to get those abilities. Of which can be turned on and off.
I've run a yogcast RR with all recommended + myscraft - oneeye, and it seems to be a really good pack.
Morph's nether config option is actually "Defeat the Wither" in Yogscast Complete, since they did it to both balance it out with a relatively tough bossfight and to encourage the Yogscast to take on the Wither. It's a pretty good balancing at least since nether stars are used in a lot of stuff and flight as a bat is useful for laying out cables/pipes in addition to building. Also, flight as a bat eats up a lot of hunger really fast.
Hm. Neat then, might as well have it.
That's a pretty good requirement. Let's have it

sounds about right, could just disable non-moderators generating mystcraft worlds tho
i don't think we need morph or sync

150KB/s is higher than 200Kb/s. Not sure if either of you used the wrong unit or you just didn't notice. But I felt like pointing it out.
thanks bud
okay im getting Antsy. I want to play! Where is profan...?
i don't think we need morph or sync
Morph is just a bit of fun, and you can get flight easier than the default defeat-the-wither with advanced genetics, and the hostiles-don't-attack ability has been disabled by default since morph released. No reason not to have it, really.
I'd honestly advocate adding Morph, if only for the sheer usefulness of being able to fit in a 1x1 space.

Linkbook morphs!
They can literally fit in a 1x1 space with any kind of piping or cabling except IC2's thick HV wires.
How big is the save file and will it be up for download?
4.96GB archived, when it's up for dl is up to profan
[editline]12th June 2014[/editline]
hm ok maybe morph sounds alright then
Also I vote in favour of Mystcraft being the way it currently is, where the book binder is disabled.
apparently there is some disk space issues, the server might come along if it is fixed

Do we have an updated mod list?
Both in terms of which additional mods we're using, and in who the ops will be
I can name off every mod and stuff used in the YCP, since it seems like what we'll be using.
I can name off every mod and stuff used in the YCP, since it seems like what we'll be using.
I said "additional" mods, I was wondering about whether we would be including advanced genetics, morph, mystcraft and the like from the other side of the install screen.
Oh. Well, advanced genetics is a wee bit more OP in this version due to being more updated, Morph is pretty cool and with some of the mobs in the pack can be used for hilarious pranks. Mystcraft is extremely useful due to linkbooks alone. Logistics Pipes is surprisingly useful when combined with Applied Energistics, Ex Nihlo is a Skyblock addon that lets you effectively get a lot of stuff from dirt, cobblestone, gravel, and sand, Ex Aliquo is the same, but for magic mods (Read: Thaumcraft), Not Enough Codecs is needed for the OpenBlocks radio, or else it'll crash everyone on the server when it's used. Dynamic Lights is clientside and it adds handheld lights, like how Notch said it'd be impossible.
I don't really see a need for Ex Nihlo or Ex Aliquo on this at all. Was useful and fun in skyblock however
IIRC Ex Nihilo will allow you to get infinite lava if you mess with crucibles.
Edit:
What modpack are you guys going with?
Looks like Yogscast Complete with a few of the optional mods.
I don't really see a need for Ex Nihlo or Ex Aliquo on this at all. Was useful and fun in skyblock however
You can already get infinite lava by pumping the nether out, and Ex Nihilo/Aliquo do add interesting alternate means of getting ores. I'm borderline on actually voting for it, though, but I'd kill for another way to get thaumcraft shards besides worldgen. There's always never enough until you no longer need them, then they just never stop appearing.
And there's some really neato and unusual ways to automate the Ex Nihlo stuff, so that'll be fun to attempt.
