You can already get infinite lava by pumping the nether out, and Ex Nihilo/Aliquo do add interesting alternate means of getting ores. I'm borderline on actually voting for it, though, but I'd kill for another way to get thaumcraft shards besides worldgen. There's always never enough until you no longer need them, then they just never stop appearing.
I actually came up with a very-ideas-guy addon concept for Thaumcraft 4, that was basically a way of growing your own Vis shards. Link if you want to have a read.
Never got around to learn how to do it, though.

Or you can just farm Pechs.
Oh yea, since YCP has Soul Shards Reborn, there's also the ability to make a Pech spawner without it costing mob essence while having it generate mob essence to go into other mob spawners. In addition to providing loot.
Or you can just farm Pechs.
Main idea was just the fact that I really like Thaumcraft and I wanted to add to it. And I figured hey, crystals are cool.
We're moving to a new modpack soon, that's probably why.
It died down after most people got end game or near it. Seems to be more challenges in the new pack
I think it died down more to the worry of "Will logging in kill the server?". That's why I stopped playing, was going to work on my foundry but kept getting disconnected.
If you're setting up the server, just a note to say that Yogscast Complete has just updated to 2.8.7.2.

It makes earlygame and midgame hell though. That and it's pretty much a mod overrider.
i like gregtech too honestly
IC2 ftb felt empty without it
IC2 is such a boring mod compared to what is available now though.
I used to love IC2 with gregtech but now I can't stand it. It did add a lot of good things IMO though
ic2 on it's own is indeed boring but gregtech makes it a lot more challenging and interesting
multiblock machines in gt are fun

you spending two months building a fusion reactor
you spending two months building a fusion reactor
precisely
Gregtech is actually starting to be more balanced again with the 1.7 update coming along with easier way to get rare but necessary materials like manganese. And it also adds gem tools so you don't have to waste your precious metals on that anymore.
Try setting up a Big Reactor that then also power big-reactor turbines that then power all of the machines required for Mekanism's 5x ore-processing system.

Oh, shit, speaking of mekanism, there's a bug that seems to occur wherein Mekanism fluid pipes crash players if they enter a chunk that's unloaded with Mekanism's fluidpipes active in them. Fluiducts, thankfully, work with Mekanism's machinery.

Big reactors are basically cheating though, it's way too easy to get materials for it and keep it powered. A big reactor could fill 9 ultimate energy cubes in 10 minutes with just 1 ingot of yellowite ore, with no chance of overheating or etc.

in this way everything is cheating.to make a huge reactor the amount of other thing you need makes up for your cheating, all of mc mods reaches a height where it is basically hacking like look at 5x ore processing,a quarry with maximum power. In case of endgame Gt was great but starting with gt modpack was rough, the amount of shit you needed to advance in gt was not only time consuming but at a point became no fun.
Oh my god Witchery has Binky from Discworld in it
So, not to be rude or anything, but any updates?
Are we finished selecting modpacks yet? :v:.If yes then how long till server up :v:
As far as I can tell, nobody so far has any objections to it being the Yogscast Complete pack from the ATLauncher?
As Profan said he needs people to look after things server side, has anyone contacted him about it? I think that's the main objective to getting the server up on a new pack. I don't think I've seen anyone object about the pack. It looks pretty solid with a variety of mods and we've talked about the optional mods to use in the pack.
It's not particularly hard to setup a server on the ATLauncher, it even has the same mod selection as creating a clientside instance. I think it also starts it automatically afterwards but i'm not sure.

I think an Anarchy server would last longer. PvE gets utterly boring when everyone reaches end game contructions/items/armor etc. and the population dies off fast. Just a thought :)
PvE has worked since Aug. 2010
[editline]15th June 2014[/editline]
also, modpack anarchy just doesn't work if you want maps to last longer than a month

MCPC+ is now called Cauldron, and is infact included as an optional mod when you go to set up a server.
