imagine being a whiny baby shitposter and shitting all over this thread lmao
i know no one in this thread is like capable of being a normal human being but can you at least try to not look like a fucking raging jackass
no
oh okay lmao
imagine going into a ss13 thread an expecting civilized and polite talking
i wish this was a thing
I think you're all retarded.
I think you're all retarded.
i'm pretty sure this is flaming
i mean
for the most part of the community its not wrong but still
Guys you have been arguing for over 24 hours, take that shit to steam or something and post the logs in one large collated post so I only have to look at one thing to see how autistic some members of this games community are.
Alternatively fucking stop
Can all of you just fucking shut up and talk about the game?
Take it to PMs if you want to bitch at eachother
It's funny, I haven't played in like 2 years or so, and I always come back to this thread to find that nothing has changed at all, still making a drama fest over the pettiest fucking stuff.

Well, it wouldn't be SS13 if it wasn't the case would it?
When in doubt, a massive increase in posts in this thread means drama is going on.
Looks like Ion's going to be a flop.

Basically fucking BayStation.
"How close or complex will this be to the original SS13?
It is inspired by. The complexity (or depth, perhaps) is one of the key draws to SS13. However I have always been fascinated by the role of persistence in how people behave so I ran some tests in a prototype of SS13 that I linked with a database.
The atmospherics system is probably more complex than SS13's, which is quite an achievement really. As an example it has water - both liquid and gas forms. Water turns to steam at high temperatures and also at low pressures - all just as it should. Fire is much slower (although still quite fast) so that players have some time to at least see what is going on."
This isn't even an achievement. In fact it's less complex. SS13 could code this in if the hosts wanted.
"Can I kill people with medical patches that set people on fire?
There are many ways to die, but I think people will find that killing people will not bring rewards. Because your reputation is linked to your consciousness in the game, that means it follows you on death. Killing for fun will earn you a very bad reputation and serious repercussions from the federation, with very little reward for your efforts."

So basically fucking bay again where killing people craftily will result in fuck all. Basically no antag roles confirmed.
"How much comedy is in the game by design?
The game will be much more serious than SS13, somewhat by necessity. I think that for the persistent world to work then it must be believed by the player so that they feel invested in it. There are sure to be some comedic things happen, many accidentally, as the game progresses."
CENTRATION 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO.
"Can I kill someone by force-feeding them an active baton?
Surgery has just been largely completed in the game. The metabolism system we scoped just prior to me leaving London was quite breathtaking, with different organs taking on different roles. I am not sure how advanced that is - I will find out soon as I go to the studio!"
Dodging the question is a good sign that the game's going to be bad.
"Is the "Theme" like SS13 where everyone will inevitably off each other in a blind panic, bartenders are spraying people with liquor, and the botanist is flooding the station's air supply with hallucinogenics?
SS13's round based nature lends itself to screwing around because you can't invest in your character as they only last one round. Until we had persistence working with ION, this is exactly how people were playing. They would log in, set things on fire, or steal everyones helmets. While that is sort of entertaining, it quickly loses interest - at least for me - so we want to go much further beyond that. A game that has the depth of SS13, but the persistence that allows you to invest in it."
"We want the autistic Bay Crowd audience, you know, everything wrong with SS13 servers."
I'll pass thanks.
SS13 is popular due to it's widely chaotic and hillarious nature, not your precious ERP servers and HEAVEN FUCKING FORBID YOUR IMMULSHUN, WHICH IS JUST A SHITTY CLAIM FOR "STOP DOING WHAT I DONT LIKE!". That is why those kinds of servers inevitably fail: there is NOTHING TO NOTE out of those servers, versus those who dip full into the chaos and insanity that is SS13, and rounds that go full on ballistic hellholes that everyone is super paranoid of eachother and people snapping at the drop of a hat as everyone else screams for their lives as things go from "hillariously bad" to "side-destroying chaos"
ION: Removing everything that made SS13 what it was and instead replacing it with Bay garbage and removing any sense of enjoyment out of the product, thus retroactively making not one, but two god-awful shitty games like DayZ and now ION.
What a world. This shit shouldn't be acceptable.
SS13 "immersion" should not be acceptable.
Let it flop.
Baystation isn't a bad server, it's just more focused on RP then chaos.
Holy fuck. Ion was never meant to be anything like SS13 or a remake of SS13. You're looking at Ion like it's going to be the next fucking SS13 game.
Ion was inspired by SS13, but it's clear from what little we see of it it's going to be more of a cooperative MMORPG than the industrial espionage of SS13. Stop treating it like a new SS13 server and more like it's own game inspired by it.

So basically you're going to play straight into buzzwords and marketing.
Ion will not be successful with that developer's mindstate.
Like I said, I'm passing.
I don't take it as SS13. It would however, have been better to have followed it's flavor.
Not as many people are going to be intrested in it. Just another modern flavor of the month game.
It's a shame because it had potential.
So basically you're going to play straight into buzzwords and marketing.
No, I'm not. Ion was never said to be SS13 reborn. Even from when I first saw the teaser trailer, it's clear that besides the similar theme and setting, it's not going to be anything like SS13. Expecting it to be like it is going to set yourself up for massive disappointment in the future.

Doesn't change that it's likely going to be a Flavor of the Month, where it could have been host to such insanity that even the old ones would be jealous.
Individual servers and individual rounds divide themselves more to customization and screwing around and just non-seriously having fun.
Ion will likely fail due to itself trying to take itself seriously.
If I am wrong, so be it, but I play games for shits and giggles, not an alternative 9 to 5.
Baystation isn't a bad server, it's just more focused on RP then chaos.
I dunno make people always say Bay bans for even the smallest of smallest shit.
I dunno make people always say Bay bans for even the smallest of smallest shit.
Let's not forget the infamous YOU ARE NOT THE PROTAGONIST OF THIS GAME ban
Bay has the most ridiculous bans
You know how those jokes about "asking permission to kill you?"
Yeah. They're not jokes.
i would like to get into goon but every time i join i try to figure out how a department works and then get killed by one of those motherfucking vampire/changeling things that freeze you with their glare and drag you off into maint
every round, are they the most common antag?
nope you've just got extraordinarily shitty luck
trust me, changelings nearly gave me an aneurysm with that bullshit homing instaKO acid spit back when I played on goon

It got nerfed, it's now literally acid which either hurts you a lot or just melts your hat/mask off.
CENTRATION 2: ELECTRIC BOOGALOO.
To be fair, it's a bit cruel to call it Centration 2. At least Rocket has proved he can code, if not finish projects. He's done much more to prove himself compared to Noms.
Also, great job at looking like a tool with the bold tag.

I'll belive it when the game is in a playable state and has anything worth noting besides a teaser trailer.
I could be wrong and it could be great, but at the end of the day, nothing will beat SS13's insane storys.

Did you know Mad Max : Fury Road was inspired by Akira?
Did you know ION was inspired by Spacestation 13?
He just said he liked the idea of people working together on a station, not to replicate the bloody thing.
[editline]a[/editline]
Also wow that is exactly what I was expecting when I saw 80 new posts.
ION isn't SS13, it's ION, it's not even round based
why does everyone say it will fail just because it isn't replicating SS13 to the dot

Probably because its niche is already pretty much filled in by Space Engineers. What audience are they trying to reach, here?

what
it's nothing like space engineers either
from what I can tell it's top down and 3d

Did you know that Mad Max was a film series before Akira existed with a already done setting and Lead character.
I'm pretty sure that George Miller ment it in a Production fashion as how he wanted things to look and feel but ultimately made it his own.
I also don't know why you're talking about Mad Max in a SS13 thread.
Probably because its niche is already pretty much filled in by Space Engineers. What audience are they trying to reach, here?
Space Engineers, what.
You make big battle ships and fuck up other peoples big battleships in that.
What about it is like SS13.
I guess if ION is more like SS13 we'll... like it more? I don't know. ION should be it's own game. If you ever want to have hope in ION, you should look at it as it taking inspiration from SS13, not being a successor to it. Because if you look at it as a successor, you will be very disappointed on it's release.
I personally don't think anything can top SS13 in terms of trying to be a new and shiny "sequel." Newer games should just use it as inspiration.
I'll still be picking up Ion. It sounds like a creative expansion on the mechanics of SS13.
So I wonder if a station is hit by Cuban Pete in Ion if players who signed off on that station are moved to new stations when they sign back in? The whole "persistent world" aspect will be interesting to see considering how quickly south shit can go in an SS13 environment.
