100+ people demands a bigger station, box station is good but it was never meant to handle 100 people.
It's an outlier. Server's back down to regular levels.
I think Meta could have handled it, but it was still optimised for the same number of jobs, just generally felt a little bigger. Probably would need a total new redesign. TBH I kinda want to see a gulag redesign, turning it into a place of fear and regret, where security dumps people and fears to return, rather than a fairly boring space where nothing happens. Have it replace perma entirely, remove the wing entirely, you dump them in gulag and don't care if they are seen again. There may be some tiny remote chance of escape, but it would involve extensive knowledge of game mechanics, juryrigging, risk taking and such.
Seems like a lot of effort for a place only a couple of people a round may go
Seems like a lot of effort for a place only a couple of people a round may go
True, but perma is terrible. Whenever I've been caught as traitor and don't have a good way out of the situation, I usually ask sec to either kill me or borg me, just so that I can do something other than while away the round locked in an amazingly boring room.

Always ended in execution of me.

Hey, is Hippie Station's code open-source? I'm kind of rusty and I always like to make a local test server to get back into the flow of things.
It's not
Ah, any specific reason? Last I remember Captain Hippie said it wasn't closed source, just that there was no convenient way to download the source. Guess that changed? Also, just wondering (I might misremember) since you guys are a fork of TG doesn't their license say any forks need to also be open source? Just legit questions I had for curiosity's sake, that's all.

For the longest time it was closed source, or at least that's what I thought it was.
It's open source There's just no pull requests as that causes more problems than it solves (see, /tg/stations out of control unregulated features.)
This is probably what made me thought it was closed.

So is the code kept up to date some other way? [editline]26th January 2015[/editline] I'm just asking here because I asked cap hippie and Foos directly but knowing them I know they're busy and may have overlooked my question.
Yeah Hippe is "Closed" source, talks have been made about opening it up again at some point, however the "core" of hippie will probably remain in the hands of a well linked coding team... that beign said if you WANT to code for hippie do drop them a line

For shame but I understand. I just get anxious when I can't mess around on my own server because there's just some things I couldn't have learned simply from normal gameplay alone, such as how to be robust in melee or setting up the reactor. Otherwise it takes way too long to get to know stuff because of the unpredictable and chaotic nature of SS13.

Because the TG head staff is somewhere in between turbostalin and mecha megahitler right now.
your own server is the worst place for that... being robust in melee involves accounting for lag.
Dunno, a few months ago I was able to make this general basic robusting guide by experimenting on a local server: http://pastebin.com/6jpGHFP1 Possibly out of date now, but learning this kind of stuff naturally would have taken way too long for my liking. I guess I should still consider myself lucky since I know more than the average player at this point still but I love to just relax and mess around on a local server when I get the chance. It's a pretty good distraction between legit rounds, too. So, sure. You probably won't get a select few nuances like lag compensation playing on your own but when you don't know what the fuck you're doing in the first place it's a nice start. [editline]26th January 2015[/editline] And there's stuff like piloting a combat mech as nuke ops that only a tiny few know how to effectively use since there's very rarely any chance to get to actually use one for combat. I was able to absolutely fuck over the entire station as nuke ops since people didn't expect an attack mech and I was able to use it pretty well.
Head of Personnel's Desk Announcement: why aren't these corgies fucking? bring them some cookies, maybe that'll set the mood
even as delta security alert is initiated the "liggers" of hippiestation hunker down in their shitty houses -- or nests or whatever you want to call them and hope they don't get robusted by security. It really is beautiful really.

That literally was the best mech weapon due the ability to cause mass stuns and set up mecha fistung.
It's official TG is now adding Baymed, waiting for RP rules to be hammered in soon.
It's official TG is now adding Baymed, waiting for RP rules to be hammered in soon.
havent they tried to do this literally like 5 times already, each and every time failing horribly?
It's official TG is now adding Baymed, waiting for RP rules to be hammered in soon.
I thought everyone on /tg/ hated baymed, I remember a bunch of people laughing about how it was so retardedly deep that people could die from bruises due to infection.
I thought everyone on /tg/ hated baymed, I remember a bunch of people laughing about how it was so retardedly deep that people could die from bruises due to infection.
That would imply the coders give a single molecule of a fuck about what the playerbase wants and doesn't want.
I thought everyone on /tg/ hated baymed, I remember a bunch of people laughing about how it was so retardedly deep that people could die from bruises due to infection.
If you thought that the coderbase of /tg/station gives a rat's ass about what the playerbase likes or hates, you are wrong. Speaking of, how are the rp related rules on Hippie? I don't want full rp like Bay, but having everything that could be going on in the round spelled out for you in OOC isn't fun for me either. That's really the one thing that can keep me from leaving /tg/ for Hippie.
