I'm surprised how slow this thread has moved the past few months. I remember it being fairly active. did everyone get tired of the game? I haven't played for ages, managed to get rather stale, though I must have put hundreds of hours into this game so it's no wonder
i try to play this game often but when you are not an antag then there is very little to keep to do to keep you occupied until the shuttle comes
combined with janky controls and delayed inputs, it is very easy to find the game stale

I've had my fair share of fun while not an antag due to social situations. it's so fun when something in the game happens that's not related to someone straight up murdering someone or someone being an ass, when people do activities together that are fun. not straight up roleplaying, but just doing something. I've also had fun just doing jobs sometimes, but that doesn't last very long. it's usually the time where I learn the job, or when I know enough to pull off crazy shit and do that until I've over done it.
I don't know the situation now, but I remember admins actually preventing a lot of shit that could have been fun to do. straight up murdering someone for no reason at all is of course not fun, but I think that you should need for example way less reasons to kill someone just for something to happen as long as it doesn't become a very frequent thing. it's hard to keep these things in moderation.
while there is a lot to do in the game, it's not enough to keep you entertained forever of course. eventually being an antag is one of the only things left that are fun since you're not really able to over do it (unless you're super lucky). those rounds where something new and unpredictable happens that are started / created by players are so much fun, shame they are so far apart

Played against a malf AI the other day on Hippie. Me and an engineer were intending to storm the satellite, only for us to step out of the transfer tube straight into fucking beepsky, a secborg, and an engiborg.
Said flame on and fucking vaporized all of us, paving the way for another brave soul to finish the AI.

Shitcurity officer pushed me over and stole my PDA. I pushed him back and took it back and ethanol grenaded him. I run to chemistry as he chases me and I lube him and throw his baton(which he was harming people with) in disposals. I try and escape into disposals myself but eventually get stunned and arrested. He then tries to drag me into the vault, then into a cell and finally into the execution chamber where he takes all my items off and starts choking me to death. The warden came in but didn't try and stop him because apparently he was wounded. The officer then dragged me to perma before realizing he couldn't open the door and went back to the execution chamber.

That's why you need a checklist of shit to do every round. I play an assistant, and if I'm not antag then the list is: Git yellow glubs. Git all access. Rob one of the outlying lockers that isn't in security. Create hyperzine. Help or kill a traitor (either one works). Rob the armory. Respond to inevitable bwoinks as I take down the last remaining security officer on the station and he suicides out of analpain.

That's why I think having a random objective/suggestion system for the different jobs on the station be implemented as a norm for servers. Gives the dudes something to do if they can't come up with anything.
