So the automatic ban evasion thing on hippie just banned me and from what I understand it also tried to ban an admin. A+++
So the automatic ban evasion thing on hippie just banned me and from what I understand it also tried to ban an admin. A+++
It sucks how broken it is because it would be insanely useful if it worked.
Holy shit the Chainsaw Chef weapon on Hippe is maaaad op, I just used it and killed off at least half of the crew with practically no resistance.
I made ling UI sprites for hippiestation. I also messed up as the block sprite was used as inventory space. Turning your backpack into a collection of empty stingers. Whoops.
Or as I like to call them, backpack vaginas.
The mute icon looks like a lemon talking. And the paralysis one like a lemon with stink lines.
So goonstation is converting one of their servers to a RP server. Might be interesting.
So goonstation is converting one of their servers to a RP server. Might be interesting.
Oddly enough, I think Goon's player base could really come together to form a pretty ok RP server. We'll see.
With Goon's admins I could see it working out. I doubt they'd allow super special snowflake characters and the like. [editline]2nd December 2015[/editline] They are also using a different map for the RP server. I was thinking of taking a crack at making SS13 in 3D. Except mine would be called ASS13, for "American Space Station 13." Basically America annexed the world in the fities/late forties before Russia could develop A-Bombs so yeah. Would that still be any good?
all the ambitious SS13 people need to just take SS13 as it is and port it into a different engine thatll be difficult enough no need to reinvent the wheel at this stage
all the ambitious SS13 people need to just take SS13 as it is and port it into a different engine thatll be difficult enough no need to reinvent the wheel at this stage
I wouldn't be upset if someone just ported SS13 onto a new engine, while maintaining the 2d top-down perspective.
i wouldnt be upset if someone made the first public build of SS13, the way back one, and just ported that to a new engine, i'd fucking celebrate
I wouldn't be upset if someone just ported SS13 onto a new engine, while maintaining the 2d top-down perspective.
While I think it's a good idea to 'improve' the game, either through a snazzier looking 2d game or a 3d adaptation, I think we can all agree freeing the game from the prison of Byond engine and netcode would be amazing.

if you can make it work in unity and not shit it the fuck up then go right ahead props if you get a playable build
if you can make it work in unity and not shit it the fuck up then go right ahead props if you get a playable build
Multiplayer might take longer. First I mean just with stuff like having personnel records, movement, damage systems, etc. I could test it on dummy player objects I figure.
remember that it started as an atmospherics test
Remember when you could give people disabilities by performing brain surgery on them
I got movement working. I'm going to work on airlock sensors next along with security clearance and that sort of thing.
I got movement working. I'm going to work on airlock sensors next along with security clearance and that sort of thing.
I don't know if you're the dude that posted on /r/ss13 but going to quote a reply here:
"SS13 sort of exists because modding has always been a thing." Yeah, this is the big thing. One of the top three goals of any attempt at remaking SS13 has to be an emphasis on making changes to the game /really really easy/. So code has to be easy to change without dicking about with networking. Graphics have to be low-fidelity or otherwise not too involved to add, so no dicking about with 3D models, or sprites with lots of (or any) animations, etc. Adding a new creature or whatever to SS13 is just a few 32x32 images (up, down, left, right, dead) and some purely behaviour-oriented code. If the standalone wants to go fancy 3D models or animations, and it doesn't hide networking stuff well enough because it doesn't care enough about easy modding, then the barrier to entry is an order of magnitude higher. For a game that could not exist without modding, that's instant death. We only have the richness and variety of modern SS13 because people have found it easy to contribute.
Don't know if you're doing this in 3D or 2D or what, but some general advice would be to focus on the core parts of SS13 instead of stuff like access off the bat. Getting a working atmospherics system or building system or combat system should be priority, as lots of things can branch off those systems.
I don't use Reddit much. So no, it wasn't me. I am working on combat. That is one of the things. For both arms, legs, and head I will have variables for damage. The three types are brute, burn, and toxin, right? So I'm working on it at least.

Just had the most successful xeno round I've ever had on Hippie Got spawned from a impregnated miner and rushed towards engineering maintenance above chapel, and set up a hive there. Preyed on wanderers and braindeads while being discreet until the hive grew large enough to defend itself from any medium threats. Everything was chaotic because of a singuloose and swarmers, which fit us perfectly. Half of the player pop on the server became aliens in the end, before a Death Squad came and fucked us up.
Playing the new Goon RP server, it's quite nice playing on goon where movement is actually perfectly smooth. This thing trapped me in a small room with no way out, though. Man, it's been a while since I played Goon
Man, admins on yogstation are shit. Don't answer PM's at all. Also they permabrig you for locker theft (watch out assistants!) [editline]6th December 2015[/editline] That has to be the worst server I've ever played on. Where is Hippie? :C
Go play on Goon if you want good admins.
Apply for admin on Yog and be the change you want to see in their administration, conquer their kingdom inwards and out
That was a surprisingly effective mix I put in that grenade holy shit
Apply for admin on Yog and be the change you want to see in their administration, conquer their kingdom inwards and out
I think I'd rather burn their kingdom to the ground.
