What's Lifeweb's IP again?
You might be thinking "Why would I go security in my first time?" Well you don't really have to brig anyone. If you see a criminal you can just slash their throat and leave them to die unless the baron says otherwise.
what SS13 was always meant to be
my first experience with lifeweb was as an overweight whore who just went around jacking off until I had managed to beat myself to crit with my trusty "heartbreaker" shit's fucked up
this tcom talk gave me the urge to post my new byond scripting language(because I can crash any server running ntsl) i wrote a few months ago
[t]http://i.imgur.com/0OcKLoG.png[/t]|[t]http://i.imgur.com/ZXNDLtR.png[/t]|[t]http://i.imgur.com/FxXE0dx.png[/t]|[t]http://i.imgur.com/utBGA3E.png[/t]|[t]http://i.imgur.com/XAK2PcS.png[/t]|[t]http://i.imgur.com/WP3HrMf.png[/t]|[t]http://i.imgur.com/jlXAVGl.png[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/vyLpdnd.png[/t]
originally written to make admin gimmicks easier to do supports metatables, too, not shown here. lost effort to finish it though
man, now I wanna play lifeweb [editline]11th January 2016[/editline] oops pageking here's some pics I've never seen posted here before: [t]http://56.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_magxnkqDDX1qjfj9zo1_500.jpg[/t][t]http://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_magxnkqDDX1qjfj9zo2_500.jpg[/t] [t]http://36.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_magxnkqDDX1qjfj9zo3_500.jpg[/t][t]http://41.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_magxnkqDDX1qjfj9zo4_400.jpg[/t] sauce
Remind me, how do I access Lifeweb? Do they still do the whole 'on/off' server thing, what's the IP, etc. I'm interested enough to try (despite my first gameplay video being that horrible drug trip).
If you've never logged in before you'll be banned. Panic bunker is on. There are only two servers. First one is byond://lifeweb.drunksluts.net:1923 Second one, I won't break the surprise. It's up only on weekends Also I just tried suiciding with a dull plastic knife and I couldn't die Then I tried using a fork and I still couldn't die I ended up spamming it Also plasma smoke nades are absolutely haram. Throw a lighter on the grenade before it explodes or after, this is the result of 10u of liquid plasma:
Plasma tiles produce a surprisingly large amount of fire if you hit one with a flame
Plasma tiles produce a surprisingly large amount of fire if you hit one with a flame
Fill the shuttle with plasma tiles and plasma statues
Fill the shuttle with plasma tiles and plasma statues
Yeah good idea let me hop onto Hippie and do that
Plasma tiles produce a surprisingly large amount of fire if you hit one with a flame
They used to never burn out and keep producing plasma as long as they are hot enough
What is lifeweb, and is it worth playing?
It's not everyone's cup of tea, that's for sure.
Lifeweb looks interesting, but I'm not sure I can be bothered to deal with 'lol our seekrit club' kind of bullshit. Can you actually play y/n?
They used to never burn out and keep producing plasma as long as they are hot enough
Still not as funny as the Uranium wall holocaust setup. Needless to say i have not played lifeweb but it's complexity does interest me... however the fact that a chunk of it revolves around sexual relations is kind of a put off.

I thought it was based on years old code and so I'm having trouble imagining it more complicated than SS13. (Though I did stop playing a few years? ago when everyone replaced the singularity with that dumb ultra safe matter engine thing.)

It does no damage to the station, it just zaps people with a few hundred damage worth of lightning from a screen and a half away... it also lags far less so you can't use the age old timewarp blackhole detection method. It's a hilarous way to kill the crew and it leaves a functioning station so people don;t realize there's an issue until they suddenly drop dead. But it doesn't get released on it's own, you can just leave the PA running and it will never break free.

Hook it up to the grid directly so when the AI goes rogue an electrified door instantly drops you to crit!
what I really like about Lifeweb is that there's no rules and somehow the player base seems to behave still. it really lets people do whatever they want which can be a lot of fun and it surprises me that people don't go haywire even when they have the option of doing that. its also pretty different from your regular SS13 which is a nice change for once, I had gotten pretty tired of doing the same shit every round when playing this ages ago. I don't know if it's just me or not, but I don't really have that feeling that I need to go get robust, get loads of weapons and be unkillable, I just want to play, socialize and have a good time. I suppose its because of how the game is made, I don't think it's as easy to be robust on Lifeweb compared to regular SS13, but that might just be me not being fully familiar with the game yet. another thing which is really cool is the mood system, if it's called that. I don't know if you're given a disadvantage the worse your mood is or not, but at least it does tell you if your mood gets worse. gives you some "mini goals" to complete throughout the round so you at least have something to do the only thing I don't like is the ERP. I suppose people can do it if they want to, but it makes me very uncomfortable when someone in the game starts making advances and tries to do some heavy erotic RP with me with really detailed /me's. I find it unnecessary to have around.

Also, out of curiosity, would doing ERP pixel-sex actually improve your character's mood?

I always choose a random disability so I never know what I end up with, always sucks when I get any of these since I don't really like it
If you've never logged in before you'll be banned.
For real?
Honestly idc about erp, as long as I can beat on fuckers who try to fondle me
There's always that one guy who stabs himself with a shit stained dagger and starts spreading the plague during migrant rounds. We had a settlement of 12 migrants before people started getting sick, then some guy started burning all the corpses which filled the cave with smoke. I threw my diary at the entrance of the settlement with a warning to newcomers to stay away from our plague-ridden colony. Here's to hoping they heed the warning.

Someone made a pretty extensive guide for a lot of the jobs in lifeweb in a post here a few months ago. I'm trying to find it again but it's eluding me.
What's the feature list? I thought it was based on years old code and so I'm having trouble imagining it more complicated than SS13.
It's... hard to describe, honestly. Lifeweb is so absolutely and radically different from the gameplay of SS13 that a simple list won't be enough to describe all of the differences between it and SS13. But, hey, I'll try anyway. Lifeweb's an experience. It's one steepled in unfair judgements, rampant emotions, the wewwing of lads, and too often centered around horrible, horrible murder. Perhaps the most outstanding changes are the quality-of-life changes to it, especially regarding sound design. There are sounds for EVERYTHING. Machinery hums and buzzes in the lowtown, consoles click and clack as the merchant buys items, radio bracelets buzz with each line spoken, caves echo with the crackle of fire, the muddy footsteps of ailing migrants, and the rare scream of a statue of Xom. This, in addition to the aid of constant theme of dark ambient music in the background, gets you INTO the environment. Lifeweb, however, is not all sound design. The gameplay elements are far more complex than that of SS13; there's skillsets based on jobs - going from the base of ST, HT, INT, and DX to their subclasses of specific skills. A feeble maid, with their low stats, will not, for example, be good at a whole lot of anything: and they're all to often to get killed by some rogue cerb or merc, with their master melee and a 3+ difference in base stats. Likewise, they won't be able to perform master surgeries in the Sanctuary (the Medbay analogue), unless addled to mentats to raise their INT to huge degrees. Combat, as an aside, is no longer based around the almighty stun of SS13. Where SS13's stun baton and taser form the backbone of combat, and immediately lead to an end if somebody DOES get stunned, true stuns in LFWB are difficult to achieve - sparq beams of the Cerberon and the Inquisition's noctis may stun, yes, but it's still possible to fight back or escape, even when hit by the taser-equivalents, via kicks, pulling out your weapon, or anything else available to you. As such, combat centers around melee - swords, clubs, spears, or anything you can throw will be the thing that can lead you to victory, and anyone can dodge, parry, or just tank the shots that get flung at you, based on the armor that they're wearing, the skill at melee, or their DX/HT. Not including the specific combat tactics, which can involve feinting for an unavoidable hit, or a particularly strong or rapid blow. Combat can tear arteries, break bones, give concussions, break spines, break ribs, or, hell, even a single punch or switchblade stab can instakill you, depending on your opponent's armaments and situation. The situation, however, is almost always bleak - the darkmood system is a fickle thing, and vices keep you on your toes in order to avoid huge debuffs or depression's many many disadvantages. There's ways to keep your mood up, of course - alcohol helps a ton, as does wearing crosses or being blessed by a Bishop, if you're a Christian. The Thanati trade moods for sick-ass magic powers, which can include huge strength, telepathy, or a stronger, wraith-imbued club. The thing to be aware of, however, is to get yourself immersed into the situation and environment of Lifeweb. It's brutal, it's bleak, and it's beautiful. You're going to die, of course. A lot. Be that from a wewladding Cerberus, or a bum NPC oneshotting you with a measely switchblade, the monsters that make the caves their foul homes, drowning in the moat, slipping off a ledge and breaking your ribs or legs, getting instakilled by a zombie, enslaved by a group of Soulbreakers, or, hell, somehow getting slain by the antags of the game - be that by a Mother, or the Dreamer himself. The odds are stacked against you - and it's your goal to survive and thrive against nigh-impossible odds, in a world that hates you and wants you to suffer. In other words, the game is FUCKING GREAT. It's only up on the weekends, though. Should be still up by the time I post this - even if you can only play as a bunch of migrants in the caves, with no Fortress available. Go play it, if you're able to appreciate it and roleplay that shit properly. Nobody likes a memer.
whats this mood system they have sounds awfully familiar to motives on goon
I'm guessing the servers are down for now? It just gives me a connection failed when I try to join either servers.
