Just heavy picnics unmolested by fun hating scouts, Games of pyro tennis, and people having fun rocket jumping and engineers being teleported to the skybox(upon request) so they can set up teleporters there for skybox party. After a while we got a team of admins, enough so that via use of some console commands we could build racetracks using props Gmod style, we actually had something akin to medieval mode before it was made an actual thing. I remember making a gamemode I was rather fond of called [I]Murder in ze dark[/I] where we used commands to create thick black fog reducing visibility to just a few meters, this fog was for red team only, that was populated entirely by heavies. On the other team was a single lone spy, the heavies were only allowed to use their fists for defence and the spy could not use his revolver, if the spy managed to kill a dude, he was teamswitched and then joined as a spy. For added "fun" teamdamage was enabled so heavies couldn't just punch everyone to spycheck, the game ended with all the heavies dead. I tell you about this because when yuo DO pour what little creativesparks you get now and then into something you end up caring for it and when people who don't understand "Don't care lol!" or jsut plain want to ruin it for people you get pissed. Really pissed, the kind of pissed where you don't outright ban them but sabotage their every effort to grief. You WANT them to suffer you WANT them to feel pain and banning them is just TOO easy... That server brought out the worst in me, and it was just supposed to be a little fun... after a while it eventually degraded into an "admin playground". The admins got fed up with having to babysit and micromanage every player in a tf2 server, they lost all enthusiasm and ended up going on no-clip backstabbing sprees. At this point there server would die, only for someone else to bring about another unsrs server with the promise of "lets all go back to the old times of unsrs, when it wasn't shit" and the cycle would begin anew. I don't want to do that again, I don't want to go back there... I just want to play a game with 2d Spacemen and clowns. I just want to have.... Fun... I know that's a word that is downright ALIEN to a lot of people these day but I JUST want to have some fun. Why does everything have to be super srs maximum efficiency killcount [B]BULLSHIT[/B]? A friend of mine gave SS13 a go recently, he signed up as the Janitor and just pretended to be the Janitor guy from scrubs for the round, mopping floors and informing people who had just slipped over that the floor was indeed wet. He loved it, it was funny to him, he had FUN! and he didn't need to steal a flash, break into toolstore and take the insulated gloves or build a stunprod to murder the clown and get this damn greentext. Why can't we be more like this guy?

At least I don't have to do most of the admiring so I can least have a good chunk of fun on my alts among the players.

I find listening to peoples bullshit reasons fun for awhile, but then it does eventually grate on me. Part of the reason why I left Golden Machine Gun back in the day. That and TF2 started to lose its luster. (Just like SS13 has for me.)

I think I just found it on a whim and became a dedicated enough member to be an admin. I still talk to Claptrap, and I have Noodle on my friends list but I never really talk to him. Makes me feel a little bad. I've got a few others from GMG but I almost never talk to 90% of my friends list these days.

My point more being. I was in the right both times. I removed a threat to the overall standing of the crew. Almost immidiately as the clown goes down, not even gasping- BWOINK "WHY DID YOU KILL THE CLOWN" The clown was being a massive nuisance to everyone around. pepperspraying everyone, slip-strip-beating to death others. The other time, I was jobbanned for doing my job as security correctly. An assistant was being a shitter. I kept brigging him. It was his choice that I was made to focus on him, after his repeated assaults, vandalism, theft, tresspassing, resisting arrest, and so on. Utterly ridiculous. Precisely as the comics. AHelp? Nope. IC issue. You get AHelped? BWOINK. BAN.

Unless he was running around murdering people, beating people or otherwise I highly doubt he was a threat. Slipping people with peels is only a threat if he's stripping them or killing them.

So went the assistant into the brig for being a detriment to everyone, and ultimately swallowing too much of my time dealing with them than to deal with a more serious issue. If you wanted your stuff back, you would of been patient and not continually broke the law. As they kept doing it, they were not fit to rejoin the crew. It's understandable that people will accidentally slip through the net and get banned unjustly, however this is a game which is horrendously toxic to deal with, the game revolves around grief. Most admins only see the situation externally with selective information. When youre dealing with shitlords all day, you assume everyone is a shitlord. That being said, it still is shit when you get banned for accidents or IC matters, the main issue seems to stem from a lack of communication from the admin player to the banned player. Space station 13 is a complex game and if people are not outright griefing, its not simply black and white. If you ban someone while they still think what they did was the right action, they'll just think the admin is a draconical arsewipe and simply ignore the admins complaint. Just look at the facepunch forums. This is what happened to /tg/, poor communication with players which eventually caused them to be alienated and went elsewhere. This is especially an area Hippie needs to work on.

Another day, another million "muh ban" posts. Seriously watching someone argue on here about being banned on hippie is like watching a train wreck in slow motion, its just painful. It doesnt matter what you say, the admins have logs and access to basically everything they need to determine if you need to be banned, "oh he was murdering people but I got banned" well obviously fucking not because they can see that in the logs. I can just imagine people like this in real life pleading with a judge "well like, I know the cctv footage shows him dropping his shopping basket with his back turned to me but I was sure he was attempting to assassinate me and thats why I killed him with my homemade baton before parading his head around the store."
