For the love of all that's holy make sure to talk to people often and make sure enough people vote on potential admins. It's way too easy to lie on these things and when a position of power is available the shittiest of people can get through by bullshitting their hearts out.
Agreed. The worst admins are best buddies with eachother and got themselves in through voting with some shitty forum/clan system and will lie their ass off in order to enjoy powertripping harder then hitler ever did
Agreed. The worst admins are best buddies with eachother and got themselves in through voting with some shitty forum/clan system and will lie their ass off in order to enjoy powertripping harder then hitler ever did
Even if they did vote each other through, there is still vocal trials, trial administration 3x, passing the aptitude test, peer review, and many other forms of failsafes. Need not worry probably.
So Goon's shuttle is no longer instantaneous and behaves like others, i.e. there's some transit time and if you jump out you fly into space. The reaction has been quite positive. Still a bit cramped, though.

What items on a player do you just think that that person is a powergamer?
Tip for admins: At least respond with "I'll look into it" so we at least know that you saw it.
What items on a player do you just think that that person is a powergamer?
I guess that determination would be made if, say, a botanist who wasn't antag got mining equipment and went spelunking for a reason that couldn't be well explained ICly.
Anybody posting on the aptitude test who didn't read the first sentence, you NEED to have somebody vouche for you on this thread who has at least 1000 posts. If you got 100 posts and no vouche your not even getting close. On that note, out of 11 responses, ONE has passed. Good job! (Not including the 5 or so silly ones) [editline]6th June 2015[/editline]
I guess that determination would be made if, say, a botanist who wasn't antag got mining equipment and went spelunking for a reason that couldn't be well explained ICly.
Or an engineer who has a bunch of chemicals he made himself everybody is a chemist on SS13 apparently

Or a Botanist with unstable mutagen because again incompitent chemists. Now a proper powergamer is someone who has the means to robust security at the drop of a hat for no real reason. An assistant with a full(250u) spray bottle of space lube, a pair of cablecuffs and wire to make more, a stun prod and they broke through the window of command EVA to nab a toolbelt all within 10 mins. Or the infamous Dr.Gibb, who using telesci would nab all the refined materials that exist on the map and teleport to the IPC ship. He would have a durand with an AC-12, a Repair drone and armour plating within 10 min, I was in a nuke ops round and mere seconds after we got the disk there's Dr.Gibb in his murder machine bearing down on us. Thankfully for some reaon he elected to take th Taser gun instead of the bullet spewing AC-12, due to having a double e-sword I was able to fend him off for a while, then lag happened and he was able to punch me. Durands have a 40-Brute punch that knocks down... There were not survivng ops left.
Actually, I think it's kind of a good thing that hippie doesn't have a rule against bad names because it helps me pick out the shitter greytiders from a crowd of assistants.
Isn't a power gamer someone who thinks they have to 'win' the game by making sure traitors get redtexts
-snip-
I tried Goon with a pal but eh I'm not sure if i'll go to it often :v Plus it's pretty confusing for a newcomer to just hop into
it's pretty damn fun once you get into it though
Isn't a power gamer someone who thinks they have to 'win' the game by making sure traitors get redtexts
replace "traitors" with "anyone who opposes them".
replace "traitors" with "anyone who opposes them".
I think powergaming is when you make yourself as op as possible to make sure you can basically do anything you want on the station that is "within the rules." Oh also from the test " "
What items on a player do you just think that that person is a powergamer?
Well if you want items specifically for jobs: Assistant: Insulated gloves Full toolbelt Gasmask Stunprod or any weapon that can deal 10 brute Spray bottle with either - Pest spray,Poly, or lube. Cable cuffs Powergaming in RP terms is more or less forcing your actions upon other players w/o any consequences. Thinking you're some god like figure who can't be hurt and other bullshit, but SS13 power gaming is different unless you're on an RP server. Light RP power gaming is being prepared for literally any situation that you might encounter or valid hunting. For example an assistant above equipment load out is hunting traitors, captain's setting up stun turrets in their quarters and then waiting for nuke ops or any other antag to breach in. Walling off high risk areas such as security maint,teleporter,t-comms same goes for cutting AI wires to those areas. What isn't power gaming? Security officers getting augments Science making mechs/guns Warden taking the guns from the armory into where he can watch over them Using crew monitors to find people etc, etc, etc
When i play SS13 i just do my job and try to stay in my job's area as much as possible, unless i am required to go out If i get caught by an antag, most of the time i'll be dead because i don't have means of defending
When i play SS13 i just do my job and try to stay in my job's area as much as possible, unless i am required to go out If i get caught by an antag, most of the time i'll be dead because i don't have means of defending
You should, in the event of a serial-killer / bad guy on the station (and you know there is) be able to use the stuff IN YOUR DEPARTMENT to build defenses. (Serious RP would not allow you to do this and go "Oh but your too scared!" or something.) If your going to other departments and asking them to make x item or getting x items from other departments it's debately powergaming. I think I will have this type of discussion for the formation of definitions of rules. So let's start now - What are some examples of powergaming and definitions?
Hippie admin!
He was also calling people fags.
He was also calling people fags.
There's also two people arguing about whether it's shit or not to help antags as a non-antag. This argument has been lasting for 10 minutes and both sides are retarded. Same with the one after the round ended before this one, like there is a PM function on BYOND if you want to argue. There has also been someone for the past few rounds named XxproshooterxX ingame!
My online name as i call myself on steam would sound 'okay' enough to be used as a character name But since my BYOND handle already is NickolasCat i can't use it as it easily shows who i am

Got another vote, what should we do about AFK players? Leave them alone (with exceptions to antag) or let players do what they want (only stealing, not murder) with them? Agree = Leave them alone Disagree = Let players do whatever they want. If you have another solution take another rating and vote this post.
honestly i have been trying to find an ip to the lifeweb servers for an hour and all the ips i have found don't work and the lifeweb website is full of weird circlejerkers who keep everything secret including the ip
P.s, I have finished the rules page. If you feel something isn't right or missing, just say so! http://dancingbearensemble.com/Server_Rules.html [editline]a[/editline] Just fixed some few things on it, so if you opened it before I edited this post be sure to refresh. [editline]a[/editline] More fixes, will probably be a lot. [editline]b[/editline] Added superison and revolting. [editline]a[/editline] Also, suggestions on what an antag is and isn't allowed to do on escape shuttles? Bombing falls under 3.3
Where the hell are Lifeweb servers even at?
http://lfwb.ru/interzone/ In the "Screams" box look for PARTY! then click on it.Also if the player count is over 45 then you can't get in until someone leaves
This was the same guy who wanted to raid Atlas when the servers split
As someone who was in the Atlas TS during the split, Wrasslin wasn't the only person to express that feeling on either side. And at least Wrasslin never acted on his feelings. cough
