I'm not even sure I have a deck right now that doesn't run healbot. I love that card so much. RIP slow decks.
Good old vanilla handlock.
handlock will be much weaker now that it only has earthen ring to heal, unless you want to run a reno with much worse cards (no fugen+ stalag, no voidcallers, no mal ganis) vanilla handlock ran soulfire (nerfed) even, plus what would you even use as a darkbomb replacement, drain life? shadow bolt? they needed to add more sets before doing this imo. or spring set needs to be really big.

I think standard is a good addition.
Really weird that the old adventures won't be purchasable any more. They should just give them to everyone for free imo (without the cards of course). [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] Also I hope they'll still care a little about balancing Wild and won't release completely broken combos.
with sludge belcher gone, someone made a new card to replace him
I sure hope Blizzard doesn't do something like that, where they make a card that is exactly like a card they banned/removed and is only different in name.
I sure hope Blizzard doesn't do something like that, where they make a card that is exactly like a card they banned/removed and is only different in name.
Soon there shall be enough copies to where you can make 30-Sludge-Belcher decks in Wild :v:
Seriously, I hate standard. It removes too many cool cards and makes the game even simpler. [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] I hope that the tournament scene sticks to wild
It won't Keep in mind Standard format doesn't come out until the next expansion hits For all we know the next xpack includes reprints or a lot of really strong entirely new cards that fill gaps lost by no longer having mechs (for example).
I'm just excited to not have to see Dr. 7 in every game.
And I just crafted Mimiron's Head too. Kinda regret it because standard basically kills all mech decks.
Would have been better to just nerf boom
But then you have a card that won't see play in tournament or in ladder. At least now people can keep Boom in his good form and play that in Wild which is fine by me, and standard can get something else as a good 7 drop to play.
I'm just excited to not have to see Dr. 7 in every game.
i'm excited for more content not locked behind a massive paywall
Seriously, I hate standard. It removes too many cool cards and makes the game even simpler. [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] I hope that the tournament scene sticks to wild
I think you're calling this out a bit early, we still have no clue what new cards will be added. Right now all we see are cards getting locked away.
And I just crafted Mimiron's Head too. Kinda regret it because standard basically kills all mech decks.
Just play Wild. It's not like Mirmiron fits in a serious deck anyway.
I think that's the thing people are forgetting, that Wild will exist I have to imagine it's going to be pretty popular, too, so it's not like you won't have people to play against with the old decks [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] Man, I just did the math and if I dust all of my GvG and Naxx cards I'd get 3755 dust out of it, fuck playing Wild imma go craft Golden Sylvanas or something
Why not just nerf/change cards more often to balance things? It's a digital game so if there's a problem with certain cards (ie: Shredder and Dr. Boom) you can just change them with a patch. Surely that's a lot better than just outright denying old content to new players?
They're not denying it though You can still get and play with those cards [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] Aside from the adventure itself if that's what you meant
This is exactly what i said needed to happen if they wanted to keep the game fresh if they wouldnt just power creep to infinity and i am so happy it's happening.
I've been playing a lot of the Hob Goblin Priest decks at lower ranks. I thought it would be a gimmicky class, but it's actually been turning out okay for me. I love completely ignoring the Hob Goblin combos and just doing Light Well, Inner Fire, Velen's Choice. I got to rank 15 last season, but I had to switch to a Tempo Mage when I got past rank 17
Hmmm, looking through cards to see what will be good in standard, and it seems like Rogue wasn't super impacted by GvG or Naxx I've always wanted to make a Miracle Rogue, it's not missing anything major from the banned sets right?
Blizzard might not be straight-up removing all these cards, but I think popularity-wise Standard will be what Ranked is today and Wild like Casual, and Blizzard will release future cards with Standard in mind while Wild will become a wild west full of broken combos. Not to mention the community will be talking about everything in relation to Standard primarily, with an occasional "wow that's gonna be so good/bad in Wild" thrown in like with Arena currently. That's what I assume anyway.
I'm going to briskly update the OP and then build a section on the new Formats soon(tm). If somebody has the ability to maybe punch up this image with some text that says 'Formats' or something that'd be cool. I'm not very good at graphic design, but I can try when I have the time. In the mean time... Hail to the King, Baby.
Seriously, I hate standard. [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] I hope that the tournament scene sticks to wild
Considering that the Blizzcon tourney will (and other big tourneys) use Standard I'd imagine the vast majority will use that format. Standard Legend will also be the only one whose Legend rank counts towards Blizzcon points which also pushes it more in the Esports direction. As boring as it might get we'll likely see far less tournaments decided on shit like Unstable Portal pulling out a Korkron Elite for lethal or Kel'Thuzad being summoned off of Sneed's Deathrattle and closing the game.
TAZ'DINGO
A few quick thoughts: - Gorilla Bot is "weaker" now. The spring expansion might remedy this by adding more Mechs. Considering the time of it's release along with the fact that Animated Armor was made a mage card to avoid issues with Master of Disguise I wonder how far back League has been on the backburner or how recent of an idea Formats was. - Reworking cards may also mean buffing some classic cards, maybe even basic ones. Unplayable or uninteresting cards may be altered to have some niche aspect or to better fill a role that was sorely needed and capitalized on in a later expansion. Maybe Lightning Storm won't make people hate life. - The value of Arena may shift if it's able to award discontinued card packs as a reward.
TAZ'DINGO
YEHEHEHESSS (I didn't have Naxx for awhile so I was using Shieldmasta in every deck I made for a long time)
- The value of Arena may shift if it's able to award discontinued card packs as a reward.
in the faq, will not happen. only standard packs
This all makes me think I'm going to start to want to play Arena more I have a pitiful collection, so being able to dust all my nonstandard cards can help me bulk it up + only having to focus on getting certain cards All that means I probably won't play much Wild, so whenever I want to see or play with a lot of those cards Arena will be the best place for me
in the faq, will not happen. only standard packs
RIP. At least random cards from discontinued sets is a little less shitty. [editline]2nd February 2016[/editline] Unless that doesn't work either.
It'd be funny if they didn't add any mechs and Gorilla bot has a massive chance of pulling Gorilla bot. Emperor Thaurissan > into 3 cost summoning portal 1 cost Gorilla bot > 4 more 2 cost Gorilla bots. EVERYONE GET IN HERE. Yes, I am aware that would be an awful deck.
