Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft V4 - We're gonna be RICH!

Did you know: There exists a secret, hidden 9th class in this game?
It's called Priest and it's defined by its complete lack of good early drops, highly situational board clears, terrible tempo and the fact that Blizzard hates it with passion.
Holy shit that priest card is god awful. How did that survive a balance pass? Pay two mana to silence a friendly minion? Who came up with that shit?
If this is one of those intentionally terrible cards, then they are absolute assholes for making it a priest card.
I've heard a theory that it's a meme card designed to give priest a flamewreathed faceless. You play eerie statue on turn 4, then purify it on turn 5. 4 mana 7/7, overload 2.

Blizzard once again proving that no matter how hard the community memes, they meme harder.

Priest card prank (GONE WRONG)

considering tentacles for arms has essentially the same logic behind it (headcrack for warrior), i wouldn't doubt it
[del]Anybody would like to help me do the "playing with a friend" quest? My battlenet id is Goluffy#1748[/del]
Ok, finished the quest.

I'll add you gimmie a sec
Saw this copypasta in Kripp's chat and thought it was pretty funny
Hey guys blizzard here and we just wanted to say purify is a great card if you combo it with ancient watcher you spend 2 cards to get a 4 mana 4/5! think of all that value... If you want even more value you can try it with zombie chow! its a 3 mana 2/3!!!! Finally we just wanted to say we thought it would be better as a rare but we realized priest is not the best in arena so we made it common so almost all priests will have it!
Turn 5 Stranglethorn Tiger, turn 6 Menagerie Warden, turn 7 Savage Roar.
Fun and interactive
Menagerie Warden looks broken to me.
It should really cost 7 (or even 8) mana, as Purify should 1 (or even 0).
Really tho, Druid gets a broken card and an okay card for Beast Druid, Mage gets solid Tempo Mage additions, Hunters get new deck archetype (Secret Hunter), Paladins get cards Priest should've got, Rogues get a new deck archetype ("Steal" Rogue) and the perfect Arena card (Deadly Fork), Shamans get more Midrange stuff, Warlocks get a new step in evolution (Discard Zoo), Warriors get another Shieldmaiden in form of Ironforge Portal, a Zoo-stop card and a solid Arena boardclear weapon.
What do Priests get? A single card that is another 4-drop in the sea of 4-drops, and eventhough it's actually great it most-likely won't be enough.
I do think you're overestimating how much the other classes got
Paladins got trash I feel like, the Dragon cards is fine but I don't know that it elevates Dragon Pally
Rogue got amazing Arena cards that will not make any kind of impact in constructed
In general I think most of the class cards won't make an impact in constructed outside of Druid and Mage
I think Hunter's cards are overrated
But, the difference between those classes and Priest is that Priest needed something and got nothing
...this is going to be a weird update
The new paladin 3-drop in combination and that new 1/3 discover might make a midrange dragon paladin viable.
[editline]7th August 2016[/editline]
Silverware golem could be really op in zoo, even if you just save it in your hand for a doomguard combo.
I do really like the Warlock cards
I think they finally realized that if they feel handicapped by Warlock's hero power that they should give cool cards and not just shitty cards
[editline]7th August 2016[/editline]
And I do want to try Dragon Paladin after this, I just don't think it'll measure up to most current decks
I might be a little pessimistic about things, but the thing that bothers me the most about the new expansion is that it doesn't seem like it'll change anything about the meta that's become way too homogenized in standard. It's all about playing aggro and midrange decks that play minions on curve, take trades and use removal when they're advantageous, and go face otherwise. It's like all the possibilities for interesting deckbuilding got sucked out of the game when standard arrived. Apparently Blizzard hates face and combo decks, so they nerfed cards that made them possible and gave them no good tools for replacement.
Now aggro and midrange decks are dominating the meta and at the same time, they're all converging towards the same boring-ass playstyle, you basically can't even tell them apart anymore. At least the old face hunter and LOE shaman had to take a more risky approach and fully commit to going face, but today's aggressive decks seem to do everything well. Aggro and midrange shaman decks are like 80% the same thing, midrange just swaps out a few cards to give itself some more defensive plays and late game potential. Dragon warrior can have extremely explosive starts and kill you by turn 7, but they still have plenty of options to keep themselves going in longer games. Then you count zoo, midrange hunter and tempo mage and you have 80% of the meta right there. Just a bunch of minion based decks that have a similar game plan and want to finish the game around turn 8 or so.
Then you look at control and there's C'thun warrior, the one control deck to rule them all. Priest is shit now, renolock is a shadow of its former self, n'zoth pally is kind of mediocre, and that's about it. I guess you can also count the new concede shaman and freeze mage, but very few people play them. Anyfin pally apparently had to be killed in standard because it was too much "cancer".
The only new high tier deck that came out of standard and actually has a unique playstyle is token druid. I guess you could also say miracle rogue plays differently, but it really isn't doing anything new. It's just that the whole rogue class started completely relying on the auctioneer now that blade flurry got nerfed.
Now let's look at what the new expansion is gonna bring into the game. Zoo gets more good cards under the pretense of a new discard archetype. Zoo is now officially the one true way to play warlock, at least according to Blizzard. Control style warlock gets nothing again, and has to continue getting carried entirely by classic cards and neutral minions. Midrange hunter gets another good card, yay. Beast druid gives us another aggro/midrangey archetype, just what the game needed. Warrior gets some gimmicky cards to play around with, but it's not like it really needed anything new. Same goes for shaman. Priest gets nothing. Rogue gets a new gimmicky archetype and a shitty weapon. Mage gets the potentially playable portal that won't really change anything about the class's playstyle. The only thing priest and pally get is some potential for decent dragon decks. Then there's the zoobot and the other multi-tribe buffer, they just encourage more zoo-like decks. Then there's the legendaries. Moroes is shit. Curator and Barnes are really interesting and viable cards, but they aren't enough to create entirely new decks built around them. Medivh is interesting, but it'll only be played in the greediest control decks.
The only interesting deck I can see maybe becoming viable with the new expansion is some kind of secret yogg'n'load hunter. Or maybe some kind of a control mage with the secret synergy 2-drop and arcane giants. I don't think those two cards are enough to make it viable though. Otherwise it's just gonna be more of the same old aggro/midrange meta. Pretty disappointing all in all.
It's so bad that even Kripp decided to shit on Blizzard (with some blatant "I'm totally not shitting on Blizzard" thrown in)

He did the same for Firelands Portal
This expansion is a real head scratcher in terms of balance
I get the impression that with the success of new deck archetypes in LoE they're just trying way too hard to replicate
Hence why we're getting, say, burgle Rogue cards. Or, you know, silence priest cards
It would be great if we had access to Wailing Soul, but having only Purify and Silence itself is very limiting in constructing a Silence-based deck.
Turn 5 Stranglethorn Tiger, turn 6 Menagerie Warden, turn 7 Savage Roar.
Fun and interactive
Warden honestly worries me a lot. Usually I hold off on voicing opinions on expansions prior to release because they've always subverted expectations (for better or worse) but I'm concerned that being able to summon ten power on turn six will be just as oppressive as Challenger was.
fucking purify l m a o
are people sure that blizzard isn't trolling right now
there's a running joke with league of legends about how the devs don't play their own game
i guess we can bring that over to hearthstone now

That's been a thing in r/hearthstone since Naxx and old Undertaker.
Oh man I loved that, always thought Slyv's horns were too loud.

I feel like Noxious is one of the most optimistic card reviewers Ive ever watched and it seems like Purify broke him
Just a thought: if you use Moat Lurker on an enemy Sylvanas and it steals the Moat Lurker will it give YOU the Sylvanas?
Just a thought: if you use Moat Lurker on an enemy Sylvanas and it steals the Moat Lurker will it give YOU the Sylvanas?
Probably not.
Or atleast it shouldn't do that but you never know with Blizzard, after all, they made Purify.
I feel like Noxious is one of the most optimistic card reviewers Ive ever watched and it seems like Purify broke him
Purify is great because every time you try to imagine a deck that takes advantage of it, you're like "oh, right. Silence would just work better."

Here's Ben Brode basically apologizing for the timing of Purify
He tries to justify it a little but it mostly seems like genuine regret
Also an interesting Arena fix
The moment he argues that 1 mana would've made it a bit of a risk, I would want to ask: Wasn't that why they made Standard?
We get it, Card Draw is a incredibly powerful tool, but out of all the possible balance issues they are worried about minor deck thinning when you are using a card that is most of the time outright detrimental to the user.
so to my understanding, nothing is being rotated out of standard for this adventure, correct?
