i found an explosive combat shotgun....
im not sure i should be allowed to have such firepower
I found a nod to the Blues Brothers on one of the police station terminals.
Made my day.
The very thing it was made for is literally useless now, though.
That being to provide something to use all that random junk for, which you now actually need for salvage.
idk, i've wanted to go back to general atomics, pickup all the bowling balls and take out a deathclaw with the thing, i even have a few cannon balls somewhere to add to the mix
Some old footage of a previous playthrough
Amazing how disappointing the combat zone is.
Remember that Straight-from-mad-max-3 scene from the trailer? Yeah fuck you, you don't get to be a part of any of that.
There's quite a lot of cool areas like in F3 and Skyrim but they all suffer one thing, it's just shoot fest with cool background story. Remember that Robot racing track? Another cool location which could have simple gambling with option to cheat by hacking one those robots/PCs but no. It's just another shoot fest. Combat Zone should've been a place where players could finally interact with Raiders. Same thing with Gunners. Why all of them are just crazy mofo who shoot everyone they see? Aren't they supposed to be Mercenaries? It's stupid like Talon Company in F3.
Bethesda really really needs slow down with the violence. They should watch MrBtongue's video and learn something from it.

You can actually hack one of the computers in the robot racing track and make them either kill everyone else there or just have all the robots continuously run around the track or through the camp in the middle.

i was really disapointed by that, but then i tripped their self destructs.
there's something great about 8-9 nuclear explosions, there as very little left
I remember a character mention the Mojave Desert during a mission during the [sp]The Secret of Cabot House[/sp] misson.
Started a second playthrough as Django using revolvers only, it's pretty fun.
Edit: Now Fallout 4 crashes on the main menu when I click any button, just great.
So, non FO4 talk, but I never completed New Vegas, so I've been trying to actually play through it all the way through, and I really don't get why everyone praises that game so much.
I think the first section of main quests are really interesting with you tracking down Benny, but once you get to freeside it kinda goes to shit in my opinion. I'm finding it really hard to want to finish it.
I get the whole multiple endings being cool and all that, but something about the game makes me not want to explore the world like I do in 3 and 4, which is the main reason I really like those games.

Well I loved how New Vegas never really railroaded you into anything.
It basically went "Here's the main story, who cares though go do what ever"
Compared to F4, where everything apparently revolves around a disgruntled and/or sarcastic dad.
And by everything, I mean dialogue wise.

See, I think the main reason I don't like NV and I like 4 is that I literally don't care about the dialogue. I genuinely prefer the system in 4 over the old one, but I fully understand that it's mega limited compared to the old one, which is bad for people that like the dialogue.
I think maybe my main problem is that I'm just trying to mainline the quests, where a lot of the good shit is side stuff. But I find it hard to want to explore to find the side stuff after playing 4 because the older version of the engine really shows it's age.

double projectile is better in every way tho
it's basically double damage
I don't get why some of them have downsides, like the one for more vats accuracy on first shot...makes that shot cost more ap
doesn't make any fucking sense, why does it need a downside when 2x the damage is way better

iirc the double shot doesn't actually do as much damage as it says
iirc the double shot doesn't actually do as much damage as it says
oh? it still seems really fucking good
I have it on a plasma sniper rifle (I refuse to use the gauss, seems to be the new hunting rifle), and I can kill mirelurk queens super easily.

Nah the start of new vegas is pretty linear.
Like you CAN veer off the path but 9 times out of 10 you'll be mauled by high level enemies
So you gotta take those long ass way to vegas, which works great for a first play-through, but not so much for any after

Project Nevada does quite a good job at "updating" NV's gameplay to modern standards.
I had a blast going through a ghoul infested vault with thermal vision.
I get where you are coming from though, the gunplay in F4 is the best Bethesda has done so far.
iirc the double shot doesn't actually do as much damage as it says
Doesn't it do the base damage of the weapon, before any modifications? Makes it much better for weapons that were modified to be automatic, because the second shot actually does more damage since automatic mods decrease damage slightly.

You could run straight ahead, down a hill, onto a freeway and within 5-10 minutes you'd be in Vegas, no prob. It's less linear than you'd think.

Seriously. The combat zone is just so much wasted potential it's infuriating. Did seriously no one at the Bethesda office stand up and just say "hey, why not do something more with this than just a shooting gallery?".

They give you a stealth boy at the start to skip any of the tough enemies and just walk right to New Vegas. You can also go through Black Mountain without any trouble.

Yeah and get fucked in the ass by cazadors and the odd deathclaw

I actually ran in and died the first time because I tried to talk to the raiders.
Yeah and get fucked in the ass by cazadors and the odd deathclaw
I've done it several times without getting fucked by anything.
Besides, as another posted has said, you also get a stealth boy so yeah.

This is the route I usually take, with N5 being Goodsprings, and N1 being the freeway.
The worst monster I've encountered are giant radscorpions.
I actually ran in and died the first time because I tried to talk to the raiders.
I reloaded several times because I thought I fucked up the game's fight club. Turns out FO4 doesn't have a fight club!

This is on the front page of reddit, and now it makes me wish there was a laser shotgun
Jesus fuck that looks amazing
I wish the beam splitter had an upgrade at some point, it's a cool idea but its useless.
There are plenty of ways to go to Vegas, with variable dangers (Deathclaws, a single blind deathclaw, cazadores, raiders or just giant radscorpions). People complaining about it being too linear and the game forcing you to take the same route everytime seriously need to git gud. First time you go as they want, second time you're more familiar with the game and the layout of the Mojave and try fun stuff

that just wastes ammo at lower levels
