Despite being below the minimum requirements, my 6870 actually can run this game. Its completely playable with the exception of the shit around diamond city. Lots of stuttering there. Kinda surprised.
Also even with all the recoil-reducing addons possible, the kick on that explosive 50cal is hellacious. Do frag rounds add a ton? Or is it just the caliber?
[QUOTE=Everything;49207258] For some reason explosive damage seems to act as an ENORMOUS overall damage buff when calculated for sneak attacks. Would level 2 rifleman have anything to do with that?[/QUOTE] I think explosive damage might ignore damage resistance, it would explain why it's so effective against mirelurks and robots and why the splash damage alone does such a huge amount of damage compared to a gun with 15 damage
Thing about Beth RPGs is that the core concept of a sandbox RPG is so good, you'd have to actually try to screw it up. Bugs, janky engines, and bad design choices aren't enough to ruin something like that. It's like TF2, no matter how broken and horrible the game becomes with all the crap Jenga-towered onto it, it's still fun because at its core it's a great game.
[QUOTE=General J;49207041]Initial thoughts: Holy shit this mod is great. [B]Notable changes:[/B] Guns are no longer direct upgrades of one another Combat Shotguns don't do more damage than Double Barrels Overseer's Guardian is no longer the best gun in the entire game Institute Guns are no longer toys and many more seriously give this thing a looksee[/QUOTE] I kinda disagree with the Institute buff. Weren't their weapons meant to be mass-produced, easy to make plastic counterparts of normal laser weapons? It seems [sp]coursers[/sp] get regular laser weaponry anyway, considering they aren't [sp]genwuns or gentoos[/sp]

Loot, XP, and cool perks. All those things make you want to keep trudging through it.
So went up to sancturary after getting a decent chunk into the main quest, since that's where I have all my junk and stuff Holy shit now preston will not STOP fucking giving me quests while I try and mod guns and stuff Never going back to sanctuary again. Actually started packing stuff up and moving to another spot :v: Shame there aren't too many other places that have a full suite of workshops available.

fuck off preston!!!!

It's actually quite interesting how a large portion of the complaints regarding beth games stem from how open ended they are to begin with. The games being so large and offering so much freedom push people to scrutinize that freedom a lot more and complain about even the slightest bit of restriction. Similarly, the presence of modding tools means people are a lot more likely to complain about virtually everything since it'll all be fixed by mods to please whatever niche may have been originally unhappy about one aspect of the game or another.

preston is literally the most bland character I think I've ever met in any game
[QUOTE=Ganerumo;49207188]About the background of the male and female protags, Nora mentions she hasn't had use of her law degree in a long time (if ever) and the way Nat talks about the diploma suggests that she got the degree [I]after[/I] she met him. Since she also mentions returning to civilian life (unclear whether she means both of them or just Nat) I think it gives quite a prominent window in which Nora was not raising a child and also not working as an attorney, which is where the player can decide what exactly she's done with her life outside of her occupation and having a kid with Nat. It's also never indicated how long Nat was in the war (just that he was cleared and went back to civilian life by the start of the game), what his rank was and the reasons for his return to civilian life. That means the player has a lot of freedom to determine what exactly the two potential protagonists were doing before the war.[/QUOTE] I always imagined that my character fought in Anchorage and is finally getting out of the military because of all the carnage, but now given the state of the world, getting back into the suit is the only thing that makes sense, well that and making things explode. [editline]28th November 2015[/editline] I wish the companions had more of a quest than they did in NV but I also love the way you level with them so its sort of conflicting Also some companions should never be allowed to follow you some places, like Nick warns you about walking into the brotherhood, but he should turn back and leave you when you get too close
[QUOTE=Ganerumo;49207348]Not to mention the staggering amount of freedom the player has. It's actually quite interesting how a large portion of the complaints regarding beth games stem from how open ended they are to begin with.[/QUOTE] Which leads to the great problem of the games being so open ended mechanically but being so stiff and limiting in their quests, characterizations and writing
I found an endless 10mm pistol last night. I Immediately slapped an auto receiver on it. Too bad I don't have any points into commando.
I'm actually really, really having fun with this game. Looking at the reviews and how literally everyone I knew was extremely critical of it made me think "oh boy this is gonna be utter garbage." No. It's just a Bethesda game. It barely runs on my PC but it's easily the most fun I've had in the past 2 years. Despite barely hitting 30fps the only bug I had in about 16hs was near the start when the fucking baby started teleporting everywhere when I touched him.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/TIn9HZJ.jpg[/t] Any other power armor pieces like this or is this the only one?
[QUOTE=Ganerumo;49207245]Replacing the .gif extension with .webm and using [vid] tags instead of [img] tags on any imgur link will drastically reduce the file weight and increase loading speed. It's also a lot more considerate of users with very limited data caps.[/QUOTE] My bad. That wouldn't work for me. :(

People can critique the RPG mechanics because the RPG mechanics have objectively been dumbed down. People can critique the bugs because their bugs. They shouldn't be in the game by definition. Mods shouldn't be needed to fix inherent problems with the game anyways.

Saying the game has no problems, or even worse, that those problems are really features is just denial.
(Very minor, non story-related spoilers) So the [sp]drinkin' buddy quest is stuck, he's sitting at the Rexford and I can't open any dialogue to keep him or move him to a settlement, even when I refuse to sell him. Did I miss my chance to keep him at a settlement?[/sp] I've searched and it seems a few people have had issues with this quest but I haven't found a definite solution.
Jeez, I left the thread a few days ago to avoid spoilers, now I come back and you guys have converted it into a salt factory.
[QUOTE=redBadger;49207369]preston is literally the most bland character I think I've ever met in any game[/QUOTE] whatchya building. I have something different for you.
weren't dead vendors eventually replaced in Skyrim? John here has been dead since "the deal". [t]http://i.imgur.com/n5XMASC.png[/t] not that its bothering me, I just use the console to change appearance now.
I want more unique weapons that aren't just pre-named legendaries. [QUOTE=Saphirx;49207493]weren't dead vendors eventually replaced in Skyrim? Just send Preston to a settlement you have no intentions of ever going back to. He might as well be dead now. Optional: Take his clothes before you send him off.

But polish won't fix what I think is inherently bad with the game. The badness happened years ago with planning. Hiring more QA and devs to help bugs just makes for a less buggy experience that is still fundamentally unbalanced or broken in some ways. Lots of decisions went into FO4's design, them not having a big enough team I think doesn't answer the directions they went. [QUOTE=Janus Vesta;49207477]Jeez, I left the thread a few days ago to avoid spoilers, now I come back and you guys have converted it into a salt factory.[/QUOTE] Happens with lots of games. There is a honeymoon phase.
[QUOTE=Janus Vesta;49207477]Jeez, I left the thread a few days ago to avoid spoilers, now I come back and you guys have converted it into a salt factory.[/QUOTE] Haha you sure told them dude! Now we can get back to talking about how much we love enemies exiting buildings faster than us or how great loading a save only for the enemies to already be hostile is
[QUOTE=plunger435;49204836]I actually ran in and died the first time because I tried to talk to the raiders.[/QUOTE] Same thing with Easy City Downs. So much wasted potential.
