Despite its flaws and issues in design it's still the best game I've played this year - and it had some severe competition.
I mean sure the dialog UI is trash (more because of how people move around too much and cut dialogue as a result than because of the dialogue layout) and the overly procedural handling of most quests, containers and special weapons is disappointing, but the game hits the mark on so many aspects that I can very easily forgive it. I had difficulties having fun in Vanilla Skyrim (modded Skyrim has been a blast ever since though), but vanilla Fallout 4 is absolutely amazing and is the first Bethesda game I play that has actually enjoyable combat, rather than horrible or simply serviceable combat.
Basically even with the few issues that it has it's still way up there.
It's amazing to me that someone can complain about the dialog UI with notes such as "people move around too much and some of the dialogue is cut because of it' when the entire dialog system has been so butchered that it should honestly be the only major complaint about fallout 4. For a game that does so many things so well, the dialog system serves as a disgusting blight.
Shame there aren't too many other places that have a full suite of workshops available.
iirc you have to build them.
Is there a guide on how to build a good settlement layout? I only got local leader 2 recently and I'm trying to make the settlements at least with no resources in the red. I have a couple vendor stalls in sanctuary but I just kinda set them up on the side of the road and built a floating, unsupported roof over them.
Basically is there any guide to making not terrible buildings? All of my attempts end up as soviet-era blocky structures.
What was the mod to make the bomber jacket separate from the bos uniform? I thought I saw someone mention it before but I couldn't find it anywhere
There's one that replaces the leather chestpiece with it. Male only, though.
I can't find it now though, might've been taken down. Shouldn't be difficult to recreate though.
iirc you have to build them.
Alternately you could store the crafting stations in your workshop, and connect that settlement wherever you want the crafting station via supply line. Then you can place that crafting station in the new settlement for free.
On the note of settlements, I have that perk that lets you see a target's damage resistances and I've come to find that one of my provisioners is immune to radiation. She isn't a ghoul [sp]and she isn't a synth either, I've checked[/sp] so what the hell gives?
When is a mod going to be made that allows for a three way with Piper and Cait?
I don't care what Piper says.
So here's a thing I discovered, turns out that any food or water you place (or is generated by a settlement) in the workbench will actually be consumed and count towards the water/food requirements for villagers. Food and water isn't just a number you need to match with your population, there's actually a cycle of production and consumption.
These items are shared with supply lines, so indirectly, surplus water and food can indeed be shared with other settlements. Instead of each settlement requiring a food and water source, you can set up a few settlements for the sole purpose of supplying your empire. Or even manually supply it yourself if you really want to.
Interesting.. Definitely.
But what do you mean food&water doesn't have to match some number? Or I mean.. I'm not sure how that works.
I've noticed surplus food in the Workshop container though. But the AID tab is not shared between settlements Workshop containers, at least directly as you said..
One would have to do some experimenting though. Like massive plantations of Mutfruit perhaps in one Settlement, which feeds itself and other two or more settlements without any plantations.
However, I have applied a neat little tactic in taking care of the small settlements. Those with only a few initial farmers, usually named, like a Family, I just set up a supply line from elsewhere, set up few sentry guns, and leave them be lol. No recruitment beacon even.
Anyway, personally I can't wait for fucking mod tools and see what can be made about like Settlement attacks. They're pretty cool, but infrequent.
Also funnily enough, I always miss the notification that a Settlement needs help, so it remains as a Misc-quest until it gives the fail notification, then I'm like "Oh, I had a settlement attack" and load back even if just a second or a minute, and fast travel there. :v:

i found a full skeleton in a washing machine once. I thought it weird that I'd found a small "room" without the obligatory redeeming secret that they always have until 10 hours later and I realized the 50 bone inside a single chest was the redeeming secret.

Also fun fact about settlement functions, everything that you said is actually explained in the game.
[sp]Only problem is that you have to have a little bit of curiosity to find it for yourself, it's in the "help" section at the pause menu. I legit highly recommend reading through that, it explains almost every single game mechanic in detail.[/sp]
Oh, on a completely unrelated note, if you're having trouble finding skill magazines in the wash of keys and un-droppable items, sort your "misc" tab by value. All useful mags are worth ~100, so they'll be right at the top if you have any. Useful for dumping them all into a stand, especially when you can't remember if you've found any whist spamming "take" at every location. :v:
Fallout is one of those series' where you're actively handicapping yourself by not reading the manual first.
Despite being below the minimum requirements, my 6870 actually can run this game. Its completely playable with the exception of the shit around diamond city. Lots of stuttering there.
Kinda surprised.
I can vouch for this, I have a Sapphire 6870 and the game runs great. If I go anywhere around the Boston Commons I get stuttering close to 5 seconds at a time though, it's so bad around there
Ah, I will now scrap +350 pounds of laser and other weaponry that I had stashed for this moment (Scrapper rank two)
Currently 751/360 my carrying capacity.
I've gotten into a habit of only using my power armor for BoS missions. I mean, it's definitely appropriate, right?
Plus they seem to be balanced towards having either high defense or relentless offense, so it works out and is a pretty fun distraction from my usual stealth playstyle.
[sp]liberty prime is just a fun way to end the institute, I just cracked up when be stops to salute the bunker hill memorial memorial[/sp]
I hate all of the possible endings. Where's the option to side with Goodneighbor and create an army of misfits and mutants with Hancock and stay chilling in your own little side of Boston?
They could have done something like NV with the Minutemen. Do certain quests with settlements or factions and they will help you out at the finale. So much missed potential..

Do unoccupied power armor frames respawn? I think that one with the distress beacon in the glowing sea did. I think it just takes a long time for them to respawn.
