Am I missing something or are laser/plasma pistols better than their rifle variants? Turning a rifle in to a pistol gives way more range with no damage difference.
So apparently if you stay in a church long enough, Piper will sit down and start praying silently.
Thought that was a cute little detail.
[sp]Also romancing Curie in my Brotherhood playthrough. Decided to give her a set of scribe armor. Seems like it fits her personality.[/sp]
I think NPCs will take up idle animations appropriate to whatever context you're in if you linger in one place long enough.
Power Armor design in this game is really good. It looks really Fallout 1ish.
Infact, everything reminds me of Fallout 1. A helmetless character in Power Armor is pretty much a 1:! of the talking heads of the Brotherhood of Steel. The artstyle and that one track that plays sometimes that kinda sounds like the one playing in that clicky world-map menu in FO1 is really reminiscent of it.
The entire game is built to have that very specific early 90s CGI feel to it. The models tend to be very round with few nooks and crannies, the textures are smooth and very simple, and the shadows are very soft for the most part.
After having to witness the horror of the ultra aggressive normal maps that Fallout 3 and New Vegas had, it's a really refreshing change.
So I decided to try to pacify one of the coursers PAM sends you after. I sneak up, hit Pacify, and he just raises his hands and in his monotone voice goes "Shit." That was a great little moment.
In the most bored voice ever, "Don't shoot me."
My character looks absolutely fucking broken at the moment, the guy's basically going through 24/7 PTSD

Those dead eyes, man.
They really stepped it up with the voice acting in this game. A lot of really good actors and they don't keep re-using the same ones all the times, or at least not enough for me to notice. Probably helped that they didn't put all the budget into one big hollywood name either.
You know, I thought I'd get tired of Valentine's banter really quickly (having been traveling with him since he was first available), but so far I haven't really.
The delivery feels genuine and well-rehearsed, the voice itself isn't grating, and I have yet to hear any repeats of his context sensitive quips.

Codsworth and Curie are the worst offenders, especially since I named my character Nicholas
every 30 seconds: "Mr. Nicholas....nick anything good?"
I swear he does that on purpose
Maybe its just me, but I think the power armour suit up animation may had been inspired by:
it's kind of baffling how they never thought there was anything wrong with Piper totally ditching both her little sister and news station forver after working so hard to get back into DC.
(Referring to how you kidnap companions after sending them to any settlement, not being able to "cancel" out and send them home. And how there seems to be no console command fix or people just don't care because they bark "just cancel out" without actually reading the problem)
Like wow. Friendly reminder that I'm not always my games' target audience.
Can't wait for someone to make a "fully refurbished" (read: straight off the assembly) model B+ texture mod for power armor.
I don't think completely pristine power armor even exists where it would be appropriate, like the pre-war scene at the start of this game.

It kinda bothers me that the BOS's paint job is just an overlay and not an entirely separate texture. I figured they of all people would be all about properly maintaining their equipment. I mean you think they'd remove the rust as best as possible and do something to try and treat the armor to prevent it from rusting further. It's like they want compromised armor integrity.
What would be nice and make a lot of sense, is power armor starting clean with full HP, but as each piece deteriorates from use and damage, the rust/grime overlay slowly comes back. The legs will naturally start to show wear with a substantial amount of use as well, and leaving power armor somewhere without a roof over it will cause it to fade from the head down.
When you repair it, you also clean and re-paint it (if applicable), visualizing just how much work your character puts into maintaining it, from rustbucket to showroom-worthy and back.
Tip: If Piper wasn't your companion after completing the Main Quest, and she's not at your settlement- check Diamond City.

or just a general difference from the worst model version of that piece to the best. (A-D, etc.)
That would actually be very easy to do once support comes out. Just make a separate texture for every model (kinda like what already exists for T-45A) and you're good to go.

Wouldn't even be difficult to implement. All you would need is a height map and a dirtied map with a mask to control where and how faded in it appears.
i started a bos playthrough
i hope im not gonna fuck this up
So apparently according to the Art book the first gun they made for the game was the Assault Rifle so that it would look beefy in the power armor's hands

I managed to persuade her to give up drugs after moving to sanctuary, damn no chair.

I honestly wish there were at least some weapons you can't even equip unless your STR is 8-10 or you're in power armor, and if you go the STR route they still slow your movement unless it's 10.

You'd have to be pretty silly to not realise most of the guns are bulky as fuck on purpose so they don't look silly in power armor.
The 10mm for example is fucking gigantic, but looks fine in power armor.
You can also see when they goobered it, I have an OP as fuck SMG but it looks retarded in power armor so I never use it.

Honestly I have a pretty fairly well upgraded Assault Rifle and a huge stash of 5.56, but I only ever use it when I'm in power armour because it fits it so well.
Is anyone else super bothered about the inconsistencies between first and third person animations?
Like in first person, when using power armor, you use both hands for your pistol. In third, it's only one. There's also huge inconsistencies with melee animations.
Yeah the sizes of a lot of guns are weird. Don't even get me started on the energy weapons.

Even with 90 FoV some of them take up a third of my entire screen.

This wouldn't be as big of a deal to me, if it wasn't for the fact that the institute lasers are statistically worse than the regular ones. If a weapon is going to be that big on screen, it needs to DEMOLISH
Really, the assault rifle should have been called the heavy rifle or something like that and have weighed 30 pounds but been chambered in .50 caliber and dealt high damage, but with really high recoil that was only controllable in power armour, so you could use it without, but it's made to be used with it. Think along the lines of the 40mm autocannon the titans could use in Titanfall. Then have some more reasonable gun take its place as a normal assault rifle, like the R91.
Got pinned and almost killed by a low health deathclaw, just as I was about to give up hope, Curie ran up and brained it with a legendary baseball bat she found.
Best girl.

... Is it bad I stick with my automatic institute rifle because I like the blue lasers? I mean, one look at my HUD could tell you I like blue. :v:
That aside I THINK the institute stuff has considerably lighter weight, cheaper/easier modding and an improved fire rate, but yeah, they're not the best.

Besides, I already have Old Faithful (with max capacitor and sniper barrel) as my semi-auto energy weapon. Needed a full-auto one too, so hey, it works.
