probably bethesda i don't have high expectations for a new obsidian game now that avellone and gonzales are gone anyway. still they're far better writers so it would be cool seeing them doing fallout again, even if it was just a short DLC.
I'm pretty woried about Obsidian in general now that they're suddenly working on freemium MMOs
to be quite honest survival actually made the game easier for me i got a legendary right in the beginning that carried me through 3/4 of the game and it really doesn't make anything else difficult but i also don't like the building minigame that much so i dont know if it changes anything in your settlements being attacked and etcetera
I balanced my Survival difficulty to leave enemies with a chance to fight, so they are a little damage spongy but not a whole lot, they still do a ton of damage to me if I let them, in fact I rely a lot on stealth which I think makes it more realistic when I don't use the power armour, this is the only thing stopping me from dying too easily. I still think power armour should only be used to overcome difficult obstacles or if you have to mow down entire raider camps, other than that, not something you'd use all the time. [editline]23rd November 2015[/editline]
I wish that some of the headgear in this game didn't make your character completely bald underneath
Yeah pretty much, but it's on purpose to eliminate clipping from models.
Is it just me or is there way too much loot? Like you can find drugs and meds everywhere so easily plus you can craft those, in fact you find more easy to obtain meds rather than materials for crafting them, so what is even the point of finding them in such high quantities, I also have maybe 300 bobby pins because lockpicking minigame is way too easy. I'm playing on Survival difficulty with some damage balance mod, but overall the game has some ridiculous unthoughtful balance.
I find any consumable past the first few hours gets ridiculously common. Both times I beat the MQ I ended with 100+ stimpaks. The thing that annoys me most is the .50 calibre ammo. The balance on .50 cal is handled awfully. Take the sniper, for instance, fires .308. Changing the calibre to that of a bullet that is twice as long and five times the amount of muzzle energy and it's only something like 20-30 extra damage? How does that make sense at all? .50 cals are HUGE. They should be as rare as 2mm cartridges for the gauss rifle, or railway spikes, and have a sniper natively chambered in it.
Isn't .50 cal able to easily kill something like Elephant in a real world? I don't see why it doesn't in FO4, balance damage output versus ammo availability, make these .50's rare, but reward with huge damage.
They should be as rare as 2mm cartridges for the gauss rifle
woah now let's not get too carried away shall we basically the entire idea of energy weapons is they are way less common but more powerful than conventional weapons
woah now let's not get too carried away shall we basically the entire idea of energy weapons is they are way less common but more powerful than conventional weapons
See I don't get this. My entire first playthrough I never once needed Energy weapons because all the ballistic weapons did enough damage to mow down most things easily on Very hard, my second playthrough on survival so far and I've still never needed to use energy, and I just hit level 44. With my .50 doing around 140 damage or so, and my 44 doing 100, along with my 5.56 Assault Rifle doing 80, and a combat rifle in .308 that does around 80 also.
I wouldn't be surprised if there is a balance patch in the near future that fixes some of these issues
there will be mods to fix it for sure but we can't keep excusing game companies for stupid flaws because "someone eventually will make a mod to fix it". bethesda specially seems to be relying on this one way too much.
to be completely honest, I never realized how durable the Atom Cat's T60 is it's like the best power armor I've acquired.
Is it just me or is there way too much loot? I have so many bobbypins and everything in aid. I refuse to play on anything but 'normal' difficulty, because then everything just seems more unfair.
I'm hoping that some of the dodgier parts of the plot will get sorted out in future. I mean, the utterly moronic 'but your DESTINY/ nope I'm just going to refuse' thing with Fawkes/ Charon/ Sergeant RL-3 in Fallout 3 made the ending feel like a false dichotomy, but that got sorted out with Broken Steel. I really think that if Bethesda expands in future though, it needs to hire someone who's better at writing. At least I'm finding the dialogue pretty great so far.
Why does everything take screws? that's LITERALLY the only thing stopping me from building power armor workshops.
So I bought the Atom Cat custom paintjob voucher thingy, but I don't seem to be able to actually apply the paintjob to any armor. Does it only work on the T60 pieces? Because that's disappointing if so.
http://i.imgur.com/XB0bQER.jpg Yeah so... Mods make settlements a thousand fucking times better. No big surprise there.
Why does everything take screws? that's LITERALLY the only thing stopping me from building power armor workshops.
You need to loot more desk fans.

[editline]23rd November 2015[/editline]
You need to loot more desk fans.
Ironically that's the one thing I skip over when looting.
http://i.imgur.com/XB0bQER.jpg Yeah so... Mods make settlements like, a thousand fucking times better. No big surprise there.
I don't even like those trees, they look so tacky. I'd rather have more lighting options.
You need to loot more desk fans.
or horde a bunch of simple weaponry off of raiders and scrap them all
Why does everything take screws? that's LITERALLY the only thing stopping me from building power armor workshops.
I definitely think it would be worth getting mods and perks that increase storage capacity and then just loot fuckin' everything. You're gonna need it somehow.
I definitely think it would be worth getting mods and perks that increase storage capacity and then just loot fuckin' everything. I have multiple Pocketed shadowed Combat armor pieces (one of which is a Legendary I got off a Gunner while hanging out with the Atom Cats)
woah now let's not get too carried away shall we basically the entire idea of energy weapons is they are way less common but more powerful than conventional weapons
The thing is, .50 cal is huge. New Vegas had the anti-materiel rifle and ammo for it was rare as hell. You just might be underestimating exactly how powerful a .50 cal is, considering it is anti-materiel rather than anti-personnel. I personally think the divide between energy weapons should be rather energy weapons have a nuance/niche and ballistic are general purpose. This is somewhat what we have in FO4 because you get enemies weak to energy damage, but was more apparent in NV with stuff like that one gun that dealt heaps of damage to robots, or that one pistol that had regenerating ammo but was weak as hell.
Minor defense/correction on this point, [sp]it seems most of the Gen 3 synths seem to be researchers or students something of that sort. Gen 1's are the janitors, Gen 2's are the troopers and shopkeepers, and Gen 3's are researchers, students and coursers. To be honest I'm not precisely sure what the gen 3's do, but IIRC you don't see them sweeping floors or anything mundane like that[/sp]
[sp] Gen 3 also do the same jobs as the Gen 2 or 1, the only thing notable is that they're not left in the wasteland to attack people as their older modeled brothers are. [/sp]
Museum of Witchcraft sidequest spoilers [sp]When I heard about how scary this place was, I wasn't expecting it to be the "bear from Condemned 2" kinda scary. I also kinda find it funny how probably the most terrifying fight with a deathclaw in the game is followed up with the only(I think) harmless deathclaw in the game if you return the egg.[/sp]
BoS lore spoilers maybe? [sp]Wait what the hell is even going on, reading some of the lore logs for the BoS and none of it's making any sense. The 'Outcasts' are now the disgraced faction, not the Citadel BoS who are the ones who strayed from the BoS mission? The West Coast suddenly are all buddies with the 'traitors' of the East Coast?[/sp] There's probably more lore that I can dig up I guess.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/wzaY8Gl.jpg[/t] I finally have a full set of X-01. I found one missing the arm and leg that I already had near the [sp]Atom Cat's[/sp] garage. This excites me.:excited:
I found this out by accidentally switching to third person while I was fighting, but if you fall in Power Armor in first person and the ground pound starts, switch to third person and you can move instantly instead of having to wait a few seconds.
Damn physics.
cl rim 0.002 from the console tones down that character rimlighting that makes characters look wonky in darkness. Really useful if you have a darker nights mod, but idk how to apply it permanently through an .ini
Is the Silver Shroud trenchcoat upgradable with the ballistic weave?
Is the Silver Shroud trenchcoat upgradable with the ballistic weave?
No which is a real pity, because I fucking love wearing it. I'm hoping mods will fix that problem eventually.
