well, that's a good thing my settlements never get attacked !
...wait, my settlements NEVER get attacked
what's up with that
I have about 77 points of defense at my spectacle island fortress and I'm always super disappointed that I don't get to see hoardes of super mutants get mowed down omaha beach style trying to make it to the core of the settlment

I feel like the settlement system would really benefit from a 3 wave system. Giving time for you to get your dudes in the right position and all, instead of just fast traveling there and having them just standing there like they were just waiting for you.
Or hell, a system where they'd steal your crafting items, and you'd have to go on a mini-quest to get them back. Small enough to not seriously affect your progress, but enough for an incentive to go get it and take them out. And not too common.
Is there a mod that [sp]makes Curie shut the hell up about finding zomeone to 'elp 'er become 'uman? Even after completing the quest via console to keep her a Miss Nanny she still won't stop talking about it. I just want some damn stimpaks[/sp]
Did anyone else stick a sweet pre-war car in their settlement when using supplies extended? It looks pretty great in the Red Rocket station

what did the latest patch do?
ye fucked up not letting her do it
now you must face the consequences
she still brings it up even though I haven't progressed far enough in the main quest to actually complete it so
even if I was going with it it's still a massive inconvenience

It's wasn't really an issue though, it was intentional, because you can get the silver shroud coat upgraded to a huge degree after the questline.
I don't like power armor that much either
You clearly aren't living (slight BoS spoilers)

People seem not to like the Pip-Boy
What if there was a mod that added alternatives built by the Railroad, the BOS, and the Institute?
Could have unique alternative UI to each, while also improving the base Pip-Boy's sorting and layout.
even something like skyui that just changes the display on the pipboy to be more useful and less scroll-intensive would be great
It's rare that I agree with Kotaku.

deacon we need to talk about your changing clothes habit
Am I the only one who doesn't think it's "truly terrible"?
Sure it has some flaws but it's not the worst UI in the world.
Enough period music is now public domain that Bethesda could probably get away with a lot more than what they've got.
Where can I get a lot .44 ammo?
The pipboy is designed to reflect the universe it's in rather than just be a handy UI so I think you should consider that when judging it
e: fuck you quoted me before I moved it to its own post
Also somebody who worked at my Uni made a pip boy before FO4 came out, is this better than the one we have - would you wanna see it in game?
Why the fuck did they put notes/audio logs, keys, and misc/quest items in to the misc item tab. Its a mess, they really need to get the old data interface back
This is a legitimate grievance

Aesthetics should never take precedence over function in regards to gameplay. Fun and function should always come first.

That's the Fallout 3 design, with all the shit in the most unusable position.
Also with the beta, it looks like mods get disabled.

Realised that after I Posted it :v:
Could still be a neat "throwback" I guess
Also with the beta, it looks like mods get disabled.
Hopefully, that's just a change they've made so that any bug reports they get from it won't be bugs from mods.
Of course, disabling mods like that can cause their own bugs, but I don't think mods are far enough along for there to be any major issues there.

Most of the gripes are based in "I didn't understand this until later"
The pip boy could use a redesign though. Could be fun if you found an upgraded one later on or something that actually has a better UI.
UI works fine on controllers tbh

"hi my name is kirk hamilton and i write for kotaku. i am extremely farsighted but i refuse to wear glasses and i hate immersion of any kind. writers like me are among the reasons fallout is designed so that you aren't allowed to make real mistakes"
i will continue reading. i agree with what he has to say about visual design and consistency.
Also with the beta, it looks like mods get disabled.
My game validated before it started downloading the patch, so they can probably be re-enabled.
UI works fine on controllers tbh
That doesn't make it a good UI. A good UI should be functional for both. Or atleast work well for the native control scheme of that platform.
you should probably finish the article before shitting on it
some parts of the article do look a bit like nitpicking about some things but ill also blame beth on making a really unintuitive settler system with no tutorial
who honestly knew without looking it up how to raise settler happiness, or what it even affects, or what the settler limit is among other things
Mmm, I don't mean to seem like one of those guys. He's analyzing the UI from top to bottom, so naturally you could take some quotes out of context and make it seem like the dude is a huge, literal autist, but I just couldn't handle the very first thing he opened up with.
