I'm late for the Kotaku article thing, but some of these are some seriously minor issues/baby's-first-videogame-level of understanding, mostly the 2nd half or so about the crafting and perks and VATS. Off the top of my head -The discovery of being able to move around in the crafting menu would just require him to cough on the left stick -"what does the up arrow next to happiness mean?" Really? -"How long did it take you to figure out how to connect power lines to things? Or to assign a settler to a particular task?" Maybe look at the bottom of the screen? -"I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to who initially thought that perks worked like a tree, and that you had to max out the first perk before moving down to the second, then the third." This is appalling too, there's a difference between not having enough of that stat (dotted grey outline of nothing), having a perk available but not owned (not-dotted outline faded color), and owned (colored in). Also, the once again un-looked at bottom of the screen shows the requisite for the perk/rank you have selected. -"I thought next rank bought perks instead of previewed the next effects." Meanwhile you have Enter/A/X) CHOOSE right at the bottom of the screen if you had the perk points available. Jeez, this is becoming a pattern. -The whole hit percentage thing with VATS is a little pedantic, They have health bars above each one, -The order of your shots, when has that ever mattered? When do you get into the hypothetical situation where you are simultaneously methodically choosing which limbs to hit in which order, forgetting the order, AND getting shot at? -The bottom of the screen comes back with a revengeance when it comes to criticals. Gee, I wonder what [SPACE/X/SQUARE] Execute critical does. The timing thing is indeed an issue, but come on. -"The stealth indicator is too intrusive." Apparently not, considering that your blind ass wouldn't notice it otherwise. -The aside at the bottom about "figuring out what food does" is just amazing. The only thing is that if it's a duration/over time effect, it doesn't tell you over how long of a period it's spread out.
Eh, they are pretty valid complaints in my mind, it's not all very intuintive. But, I'm looking at this from my knowledge as a game designer anyway, so it probably doesn't apply too much.
Did you try building a settlement by using the TCL and TGM commands? Making settlements is a bit easier when you can just fly around. I use TGM for those crappy settlements I don't care about, I just plop a bunch of turrets to get the defense rating as high as possible and move on. If I had to grind materials for every settlement I would probably go insane.
I use TGM because of how often I have to start from scratch, and TCL decides not to work for me 85% of the time. I type in the command and nothing happens. When I finally get into TCL mode, I can't just place things where ever I want like some people have been claiming.
Where do I place the files for the realistic bullet crack sound mod? Dl'd the 50% backup but idk where to put it
I use TGM because of how often I have to start from scratch, and TCL decides not to work for me 85% of the time. I type in the command and nothing happens. If you see an id then you are applying tcl to that object, it confused me at first. So if there's an ID in the center of the console, type prid to clear it out. TL;DR: If tcl doesn't work, enter prid, then try tcl again.

My biggest complains about the UI are purely quality of life and can actually be fixed in a patch if Bethesda would be so kind: -More sorting/searching options at workbenches (checking boxes to search across multiple categories would be just yummy) -Tweaking the misc tab and instead moving notes, holotapes and games to data, keys into a sub-category etc. I honestly think that's all the things that bother me about it, so where all this outrage came from is beyond me. Kotaku has been into stirring up controversy lately though
If that is the reason...I feel like an idiot.
Nah, the console doesn't even give you an error message, so it's their fault anyway.
Kotaku has been into stirring up controversy lately though
probably because they got blacklisted by Bethesda for leaking FO4 details or whatever
dont like a clunky ui? you're just a neckbeard wait 5 months for the script hook.
but you are a neckbeard, richy. you've always been the neckbeard here.
I honestly think that's all the things that bother me about it, so where all this outrage came from is beyond me. Kotaku has been into stirring up controversy lately though
That might've been my fault :v: I was kinda rambling about it and it started from there.
Anyone else loves when this song comes in game? What are your favourite tunes guys
Uranium Fever best
I just romanced Hancock and went to bed with him. After waking up I heard "Good morning, handsome" and turned around to see this. [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/389921374373355410/28806ABF974017C5F05CA6249EA8D7DFBF200066/[/t]
I can't find the actual song, Classical radio has a bunch of music which I really liked though.
Did you guys know that grandma was playing the numbers?
it's all over but the crying ink spots are A+ [editline]Edited[/editline] still digging these pre-war car designs, would love to see them ported to GTA V sometime in the future

I can't really think of another one on DCR that I like more, though Classical has my favorite from the radios: This piece always makes me think of a hot, hot foreign desert - in particular British-occupied India. Not really sure why. It must have been in that context in a film I watched when I was younger.
probably because they got blacklisted by Bethesda for leaking FO4 details or whatever
Yup, leaked FO4 details back in 2013, got a 2 year blacklist, and just recently started writing articles complaining about Bethesda and FO4 now.

This song always puts me in such a good mood for annihilation though, reminds me of how much fun I had in FO3 just shooting MIRVs all over the place.
still digging these pre-war car designs, would love to see them ported to GTA V sometime in the future
The single-seat coupe with the big chrome fins is kickass. Hands down my favorite of all of them.
or the game just has some glaring issues
If you read their "The price of gaming journalism" article and THEN read the "Fallout 4's UI is terrible" article it honestly just sounds like they're whining. There is SOME truth to what they say, but mostly it seems like a jab at Bethesda for not letting them get early access to information. [editline]o[/editline] That said, I think Kotaku did their job perfectly when leaking the documents, and that Bethesda responded appropriately too, no one were really at fault. Kotaku never signed any NDAs about FO4, so they didn't break any by leaking what they found, and Bethesda still should protect their projects from leaking as best they can. Both just did their job and that's the nature of the business, it only becomes an issue when they get sour about it later.

http://kotaku.com/a-price-of-games-journalism-1743526293 It sounds so pretentious, also apparently they leaked other games too? Why even admit such a thing. Since the information they leaked never got to them through sources telling them not to leak it, they're honestly free to do what they want with the information, which, as a journalist, should be to spread it around [editline]24th November 2015[/editline]
oh... still a dick move either way, I guess both are wrong in this case
Quite opposite, both are right, until they start making a turf war about it after-the-fact

[editline]24th November 2015[/editline] oh... still a dick move either way, I guess both are wrong in this case
To be honest if you're a journalist and you are privy to inside information before anyone else is, you have to be pretty bad at your job to not publish it. Without getting into ethics and other bullshit, both sides did as they should do, which is something seldom seen in the games industry so fuck chalk it up as a win Unless Kotaku really are trying to "anger" Bethesda now for the correct response. Then again Kotaku is pretty awful so that's probably exactly the idea.
Yup, leaked FO4 details back in 2013, got a 2 year blacklist, and just recently started writing articles complaining about Bethesda and FO4 now.
just goes to show how many manchildren write for kotaku

This situation really reminds me of [sp]Piper[/sp] right now, both sides do have pretty good points, I think? Meh, sorry if I'm writing very stragely, sleepy. Finally found this song, it's so cool. Did my save get corrupted? I've been loading for 15 minutes now...
Did my save get corrupted? I've been loading for 15 minutes now...
Did you restart the game already? It'll probably fix itself. Usually if the game takes too long to load it means that it crapped itself.
Someone should make a mod where the targeting system misc for your power armor helmets only targets/highlights enemies I've accidentally shot/killed more friendlies than I'm willing to admit
