Fallout 4 is definitely a weaker RPG than 3 and New Vegas, but I feel it's the better video game. Not disagreeing with you, Bread. I do agree that you're missing out if you don't play the earlier games, it's just incredibly hard to do so now.
Eh i agree with your point but i disagree with the case of 3 and NV specifically. The games are not THAT old yet to suffer from being unplayable in the eyes of a new generation and etcetera. Harder to get used again? Sure. "Gameplay outdated to a point of being unplayable"? Definitely not. Better video game because the shooty stuff is better? Ehhh opinions. It's a better shooter for sure but a worse RPG and i always liked the RPG aspects more than the action ones so i wouldn't say that. To each his own though. A good example of your point are the persona games though. The story from the first two is miles better than 3 and 4 but after playing them it's actually quite hard to endure the old timey megaten elements from the older ones.
Really if you can't bring yourself to play great games from a few years ago because you've played something more modern then you're missing out.
I dunno. I have to agree on the notion of not being able to go back to FO3 and NV after FO4. I mean they dumbed the RPG elements down for FO4, but the gunplay is heavenly. Especially considering how bullshit and RNG based it was in FO3 and NV. It's nothing to do with FO4 being modern, it's simply just a case of FO4 being better and mechanics being more refined and fun to play with than they were in the previous iterations. (Well most of the mechanics anyway) And I say this as a person who plays games from the late 20th century more than modern games today. (X-Com, Syndicate, older rollercoaster tycoon games, Original Fallouts etc etc etc) It isn't all purely based on the notion of, Modern = better as that isn't the case. Clearly proven by the fact the Original X-Com from the early 90's is superior to the current X-Com iteration in pretty much every way (Aside from graphics which doesn't REALLY matter that much in the grand scheme of things)
Not sure if spoiler but... [sp]I'm presuming that the Eddie Winter holotapes are related to Nick Valentine's companion quest? I've found 9 of them.
And now I want to do a Max Payne run. If only I could have him voice my character...
It's weird, I would be perfectly fine with voiced protagonists so long as the male was voiced by James McCaffery :v:
So only arm your guards.
Can you tell settlers to use power armor?
It's weird, I would be perfectly fine with voiced protagonists so long as the male was voiced by James McCaffery :v:
Given the content of the story they seriously fucked up by not having him do the voice
Max Payne voice mod when?
Did anybody else find the Roach King outside Lexington?
And now I want to do a Max Payne run. If only I could have him voice my character...
Pistols perks only, wear the drifter outfit because you can get it really early. And you have to use Jet a lot and be addicted to an alcohol of your choice.

I just realized that the Heavy Combat Right Arm and the Combat Right Arm have the same name (Combat Right Arm), so the reason why it's so hard to find the heavy combat right arm is not that it's hard to find, but that it's hard to distinguish from the normal combat right arm. WTF?

New Vegas is one of my all-time favourites and it's still the same as it was before FO4's release, having played something sleeker isn't going to stop me from enjoying it or any other older games.
Honestly they kinda did enough different for it to feel familiar without completely negating the joy found in the earlier titles. Unlike Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim where going back just felt clunky, going back now feels like going from CoD to to Half Life, and those are fun in their OWN ways, not one being a straight up improvement over the other

WTF?
I was about to prove you wrong because I had a full set of heavy combat armour in my inventory, but it looks like I thought it was a regular Combat Right Arm and accidentally sold it to god knows who. Welp, thanks for alerting me to my mistake.
Honestly they kinda did enough different for it to feel familiar without completely negating the joy found in the earlier titles. Maybe I'm a rare breed but I don't think newer games negate joy found in earlier titles as long as they're still good games.
