I've had enough of the stupid hacking\lockpick minigame, I got the easy hacking game mod so that I can be done with it, I just bruteforced it anyway. It's not even a good puzzle minigame, it's just tedious. I really don't understand why they had to make locks so common.
Once you've clicked like two of the options, if you get 0 matches for both you can pretty easily narrow it down to 2 possibilities. Lockpicking and Hacking are honestly a bit overused at times. There are even times where it's detrimental to utilize hacked terminals since turning on the protectrons/turrets will half the time already be hostile. That or the expert level terminal only gives you the option to turn on spotlights. Robotics expert is actually useful at times but it can yield some funny situations such as (BoS spoilers) [sp] near the end when you go into the one bunker to fetch the nukes; you can walk over to Atom's wrath, turn it off and enable the self destruct. The human npc wont even react to it exploding. The guy doesn't even react.[/sp]
my friend and i were talking about something that lets you smash terminals/locks with a melee weapon for a luck-dependent chance of something happening like a chance of either opening the locked door/container or activating a random function on terminals, or rendering them unusable until the area resets

And I kinda understood how the hacking minigame works, I just can't be bothered to do it every single time, bleh.
I just enter and exit terminals until I get a screen with a ton of closed brackets so I can narrow the choices down to just a few

I loathed hacking for a while in fallout 4 mostly because I had my framerate unlocked (I unlocked it mostly because I would get annoying frame drops despite having a reasonable computer), leading to a very annoying bug in which exiting certain terminals would often times soft-lock my game and I would be forced to reload my last save. I quick-save before every single terminal now out of paranoia even though it hasn't happened once since locking my framerate.
It's not as casual anymore. I've died alot in this game but that's on survival difficulty. Just try and stay away from the south area because it can screw you up.
Tell me about it, I walked into the glowing sea, greeted by the sight of cackling rad lightning, a legendary deathclaw finishing off a legendary radscorpion and luckally I picked up this Fatman that does improved damage against creatures, shot it a couple of times and kept on pushing south
Is there any way to adjust the audio falloff distance? People that I'm not looking directly at are extremely quiet. I seem to recall Skyrim having the same issue, though not this severely.
for the record this problem was like the OG bethesda bug in morrowind, it was basically a full on feature when they fixed it later with an expansion holy gamebryos
Starting up my second playthrough as Tony Stark, not sure if I got the face right:
Starting up my second playthrough as Tony Stark, not sure if I got the face right:
play the entire game in cave armor
It would be fine if the game would actually let you shoot locks and, do that :v:
There's a mod for skyrim that let you level up a unlock spell and also bash the log to try and unlock it. Would be nice if it was native in FO4.
Lockpicking and hacking while in power armor feels wrong, I should beable to to just pull the door off of stuff while in power armor, very loudly.

The fact that you can shoot barred doors open makes me want to shoot locks open even more
I really miss the old laser rifle and pistol designs from Fallout 1/2 [t]http://www.nexusmods.com/Images/130/2580563-1398871157.png[/t] idk why but I was never fond of the FO3 laser rifle design from the first person perspective
Yeah super late replay, had the thread up on an old page on my laptop and just saw this post. Is this really how they used to look like? I've been ranting to myself over and over how retarded the current laser weapons look because they're supposed to be military made, but they look like some duct tape home made jury rigged crap, it makes no sense. Why on gods earth did they throw this away?
Lockpicking and hacking while in power armor feels wrong, I should beable to to just pull the door off of stuff while in power armor, very loudly.
Just imagine some dude in PA smashing through a door, spotting a terminal, stomping his way over to it, then sitting his ass behind it and start typing away. As he succeeds, he throws the terminal out the window and shoulderbashes through the now unlocked door, because why not. Just to find a pipe pistol. A sight to never see indeed.
Holy shit just figured out the game runs better on high settings for me what the hell little frustrated but relieved that I can enjoy the rest of the game this way [editline]26th November 2015[/editline] I'm testing out Inspirational So if you don't have this perk, companions with Grenades, Molotovs, Flamers, and Missile Launchers can very well damage you right?
So after a little while of wondering why i looked like a dumbass in the heavy combat armor i just got, i found out it's actually form fitting Military fatigues + CA makes the armor look fat [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/644375363401891093/757C0445E02D3C79AF28E874BAAE0BDC62BF4A3C/[/t] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/644375363401891272/1623B426C656C99F485F81AF18AD6D6D09BC047B/[/t] Compared to this with the BOS uniform

But the new designs of plasma weapons are literal trash compared to the plasma caster and plasma defender.
Fucking miss the plasma caster so hard I literally took energy weapons in new vegas just because i found out the game had the plasma caster in it.

Overall I wish they'd make them look proffessional. And yeah I want the plasma caster and all the other cool FoNV guns back

i want the amr back it was my baby
I really wish the voiced protag reacted to seeing gunners somehow. Have you meet a small group near sanctuary, and your guy thinks they are just normal army members or some shit. I mean, the husband was ex-military, it's so weird he doesn't ever seem to mention his thoughts on the gunners early on. I disliked bioshock infinite's gameplay, but it's voiced protag was done well and the writing was great. I really wish fallout's voiced protag was more like infinite's. Reacting with awe and shock to various events. I dunno, your guy just seems to stop giving a shit at a certain point and quickly transitions to life in the wasteland.
yea, I really hate dislikes for taking drugs too. I helped [sp]Cait and now she DISLIKES me taking drugs? Really annoying, makes me regret doing her quest. I get why but ughh. [/sp] It's just silly, I shouldn't be punished for playing like I normally do. I get why strong dislikes it, but its just fucking annoying. Add a way to brute force locks then it'd be fine. Explosives / Raw strength could work to fuck over a door. Make it so theres a downside, if you use explosives to blow open a container or raw strength, some items might get destroyed or be worth less.
There was actually an excellent mod for FO3 I played with, that allowed you to set bombs to break locks. It was based off your explosive skill, low explosive skill meant there was a higher chance that you could: A) Set the timer too short or too long (and it won't inform you) B) Fail to break the lock C) Destroy the contents of whatever you were blowing up. It was an excellent mod and really gave you a lot more possibilities when you played (since you weren't forced into getting lockpicking above 50.) Nowadays it's useless anyway, I maxed out lockpicking and hacking early on my FO4 run and it barely comes up because every single master terminal/lock has the key/password literally 2 meters away.
One thing I'd have liked there to be more of is the whole Dog -> Dogmeat thing. It kind of annoys me that you know everyone's name without even having to ask, and it would be nice if you'd have to actually discover the character's name from another source. Then again, I have no idea what would actually show up in the nametag beforehand. In my opinion, the only time the voiced protagonist really added anything to the game was during the silver shroud quest if you choose "speak as shroud" options. Otherwise I don't care for it that much. I don't hate it but I don't like it either.
PSA: Stay off of the fucking wiki. Just got spoiled. Not their fault or anything. Looking up certain npc tables shows race and therefor spoils some pretty significant plot points regarding synths.
