This bit right here got me, holy shit.
Instant fucking preorder. I was a bit iffy about the multiplayer, but after that interview I'm definitely going to buy.
Instant fucking preorder. I was a bit iffy about the multiplayer, but after that interview I'm definitely going to buy.
From what I've seen and read it does seem like they're putting a lot of effort and dedication into this game so this is undoubtedly a day one buy for me. It already looks fantastic in it's current state so imagine what another six months atleast will do.
I dunno, I can totally buy that there will be open-ended missions, but stuff like following criminals back to their apartments or whatever and finding more evidence against them for blackmail (While sounding really cool on paper) sounds pretty far-fetched. It's not a deal-breaker, but I'm doubting it will actually be a thing that can be done, or will just be sort of a one-off thing that gets really repetitive if you try to do it a bunch to get more money. Still, just being a game with open-ended missions and an interesting setting is enough to keep me interested.

I mean it could just be a random logo, but from what I can tell that's a triangle with two lines starting from two of the tips and going through the center of the opposing line. Maybe fancy geometry is linked to math and hackers? The "official" hacker logo looks like this, right?
It's not the Sox or the Cubs, so I doubt it's an actual baseball cap.
Well for the whole following traffic lights, more traffic, police patrol that can pull you over or car crashes from running a red light? I mean, you can control the streetlight if you don't wanna wait.
I really, really hope the PC version isn't fucked up. Oh man, they could have my soul if this ends up being amazing
I really, really hope the PC version isn't fucked up. Oh man, they could have my soul if this ends up being amazing
the demo at e3 was on pc...

If the release date is sometime this year I'll be a happy-er man!
Ubisoft makes great games
Meant it more in the way that they don't exactly put modding abilities in the games
I actually got pissed off when that woman was shot in the gameplay. The guy was freaking out, there was blood all over the windshield and everything. Fucking horrible.
Really, it makes you wonder why the police are exceptionally hostile against the player - albeit, he did just execute a well-known figure apparently in public right outside his charity of all things - when all of these thugs were apparently running guard duty over said guy with full-automatic rifles and itchy trigger fingers in public. I mean, witness reports or sole survivor may be one thing, but geez.
I hope there's a nominal amount of traffic in the game, I know the opening sequence showed a ton of movement on the streets but during the gameplay it seemed like there weren't many cars at all, save for when he triggered the stoplights and a bunch of cars randomly generated for the event. That intersection in particular is pretty busy all of the time, those are some of the most major roads in the loop; lake and state, just a block over from wacker drive offtopic, but it bothers the hell out of me that chicago's landmarks are corncob buildings, donald trump tower, the Hancock, [del]the Sears building[/del] "Willis Tower" aka "BIG WILLIE", and for a while we had that 30+ foot tall marilyn monroe with her ass pointed at the crowd of tourists I wonder how much of town they kept (already saw the cobs), and how much was altered/crunched down. I'd get the game just to explore and revel in the details
that 30 foot marilyn statue is down in palm springs CA right now, was just there yesterday and saw it

"Weapons" wat
"Weapons" wat
Doesn't take much intelligence to figure out what that means.
Watch Dogs ‏@watchdogsgame @imzaki1994 The game will be released in 2013 and will be on released on PC and consoles.
https://twitter.com/watchdogsgame/status/210143235060928512
“We haven’t logged a number,” said Watch Dogs creative director Jonathan Morin. “To be honest, we’re still building the city. So, we don’t want to give a number; we’re still twinkling it.” “But, one thing we’re committed too is our vehicles are going to go very fast; they can go up to 180 miles per hour. So, that’s going to require a certain size of city to support.”
http://www.gamercenteronline.net/2012/06/07/e3-2012-the-size-of-the-city-in-watch-dogs/

(Large, OPEN WORLD FREEROAM CITIES!)
Its prolly just gonna be Chicago but Chicago is a pretty big city. Also a great easter egg/fun thing would be if the Cubs were gonna win the world series and you do some hacking magic and make them lose to keep the universe in balance.
180mph oh my word, are we going to be driving lamborghini's everywhere?
Max out a Veyron and get in an accident and instantly vaporize.
Yes! Large cities anyone? (Large, OPEN WORLD FREEROAM CITIES!)
I'm not entirely sure that bigger = better. I'd much rather have a functional, small space (Saints Row the Third,) than a huge, unmanageable one (Just Cause 2.)
What I'm afraid of is that we'll get all these cool abilities and there'll only ever be one good way to use them in a mission.
All these abilities could be gimmicks, yea. Just like the shouts in Skyrim.
Remember, as Chris Bucholz once put it: "E3 marks the anniversary of a thousand broken promises"
The shouts (and magic in general) in skyrim is only an issue because of the user interface; it's so unwieldy to switch between shouts and spells and shit and it breaks gameplay flow so often that people feel like it's not worth it. Watch_Dogs, at least from what we've seen so far, appears to have its "spells" pretty accessible (raising the bridge whilst he's driving)
I agree, especially on the consoles. Switching between magic & shouts made it annoying. Having only 2 shortcuts didn't help either.
The textures better not look like horrible when driving really fast like in GTA.
It looks like openworld syndicate
Honestly, I think most of the scripted stuff there was in the E3 demo could easily be dynamic in the final version. The civilians helping, the woman shot in the car, should be easy enough to implement as long as you've got good pathfinding. As for the car crash, I guess it was scripted only to provide enough cover for the gunplay. What kinda disappoint me, though, is how hacking the light automatically made it green. I'd like to be able to toggle them all red, or only one out of four.
