Ye, my friend in the UK who has installed it through uPlay can play it at 1:00am, however I got it on Steam and have to wait another 8 hours till release? That makes sense.
I remember with Assassins Creed: Black Flag I pre-odered and pre-loaded the game, which I'll say cost me a hell of a lot more then if i bought it in a shop, and yet shop buyers could go out and get it at 10:00am or whenever they went out, I couldn't play it till 10:00pm on release day.
If this happens again with Watch Dogs I'm gunna be pissed lol. What's the point of paying more for a digital download and pre-order / pre-load if I could get it faster walking into town.
Leaving for the midnight release at my local gamestop in around 40 minutes. But it'll be 3 hours yet before they start handing out copies. This is the biggest release that I've been to so I'm expecting there to be more than 10 people there. Probably won't be home until 1-2 AM
I was wondering, was this footage released before the PS4 released?

According to Google yes
Still no preload on U-Play? What bullshit
I don't think uplay get's to preload.
pretty sure I read on their forums from a dev saying "Uplay doesn't need to preload, we have good servers" (paraphrasing)

ok we'll see about that
According to Google yes
Well, maybe it explains the downgrade? Perhaps the developers thought the PS4 had enough power to run Watch Dogs like that.
Don't know if this has been posted, but all you AMD users can blame Ubisoft for your poor performance. The AMD driver engineers can only do so much when they have so little access to the underlying code.
all these exclusive features from either side are really starting to get on my nerves. Nvidia is mostly to blame here, not too sure about AMD but I'm pretty sure they've gone a more open source route, but feel free to correct me about that.
it just makes me so mad that I, as a consumer, will never be able to take advantage of either manufacturers exclusive stuff or technologies. if I want PhysX/an optimized card for Gameworks, I'll have to shell out for a Nvidia card. if I want mantle/an optimized card for TressFX, I'll have to choose a AMD card. competition is good, but this is what I'd call unhealthy competition. suddenly it's all about creating new proprietary technology to attract the most users, leaving users who didn't pick your product in the dark.
of course they don't focus 100% on that, but I really wish they wouldn't go for solutions like these. it's a lose/lose situation for the customer most of the time as some games will perform like shit simply because it's built on another manufacturer's technology.
Just bought the game on steam.
I got to the arena bit with the blackout "INSTALLING GAME 37%".. Been waiting an hour.. 50%.
ok we'll see about that
here's the exact post

I think they're missing the point that people want to play the game the minute it's released, not wait an hour or more depending on their download speed.
What time is the game even supposed to be released in the UK?
People who unlocked it early, do you need to put your CD key in from steam if you bought it through steam, or can I grab my Steam CD key and put it into my UPlay account right now so I'm ready for it when the clock strikes midnight?

You could just do this

Driving is pretty much unplayable for me atm :(
I think they're missing the point that people want to play the game the minute it's released, not wait an hour or more depending on their download speed.
And in cases like mine its not an hour download. Its a 12 hour download. This is why I don't usually preorder from Steam. Shitty connection speed + I'm on the east coast so most developers make me wait until the west coast gets to midnight.

That's fucking retarded.
Even if I maintain a 3MBps connection to their 'good servers' for the duration of the download that's still over an hour of downloading.
I don't care how good your servers are assholes let me preload a game I preordered or I'll preshove my foot up your preass
So I have spent a lot of the day playing with various settings. I currently think that this game is way more cpu intensive than believed. With everything on ultra, with only slight AA(I have spent hundred of hours playing games with little to no AA in use so I don't really notice) I get 45-50 fps whether the textures are set to high or ultra. If I set them to medium I get 60fps.
On another note
This is not how you phone.

Or a day or more.
Yeah it took me a while to download Wolfenstein's day 1 patch, would've sucked if I'd went withought a physical copy.

Lies, just lies upon lies upon lies.
So how does hiding in cars work? Can cops just get up close and search your car? Do you need to be in a dark alley for hiding to work?
Lies, just lies upon lies upon lies.
Lies? That was over a year ago when the game was still very much in beta. And the game hasn't change much since then.
To be honest, the only thing that seems to be disappointing to me is the AI, that's pretty much it. Oh and the silly bugs and glitches.
So how does hiding in cars work? Can cops just get up close and search your car? Do you need to be in a dark alley for hiding to work?
It seems to work best at night and if you park in an alley, somewhere a cop can't just glance and notice you right away. If they get close enough and there's enough light, then they'll find you.
Lies, just lies upon lies upon lies.
oh god, not the marketing techniques used to build up hype and increase demand for a product because that's fucking capitalism 101!
Lies, just lies upon lies upon lies.
What lies? The clearly scripted sequences like the perfect amount of trash rolling through the streets? Or the fact that the whole game doesn't take place just after raining in the morning?
How odd for Steam's storepage to suddenly push back the release date for one month
