We all established ubisoft bullshited this game and it's mediocre but we enjoy it. Whats really the point of coming in here and saying PFFT NERDS IM SO COOL I DONT LIKE THIS GAME YOU LIKE??
I don't bash the game but only Ubisofts marketing policy. I'm actually looking forward to getting it once it's cheaper. I think it looks like a good game.
Hell, seems like they did not test any AMD card either huh?
That's because it uses nvidia tech
Anyone tested the new 14.6 amd drivers? Do they improve performance?
I just tried Windows 7 (and Run As Administrator) on uplay.exe, ubisoftgamelauncher64.exe and watch_dogs.exe to no avail -- still cannot connect to a online player. Windows Defender and UAC are both disabled too. Running Wireshark shows a bunch of unanswered connections to a ubi.com address which eventually replies about 10 seconds later (sometimes longer, say 30 seconds) but then the client doesn't attempt to establish a direct connection to a player, just pushes some stuff back to that ubi.com address on port 21100. Unable to actually see what's in the packet, it's not plain text and theres no plain text component. I have the worst of both worlds -- Windows 8.1 and a pair of AMD R9 290s in Crossfire. Woeful performance combined with not working MP in addition to this being my most anticipated game in a couple of years = major sadness. I assume (hope) it'll all be fixed in 1.01 but who knows. With Crossfire, I have 1 card running at 900MHz and the other dawdling at 450MHz all the whilst I have stuttering and bad performance. Probably a combination of Ubisoft and AMD coding. Sad :'( Can I have a hug?
That's because it uses nvidia tech
True, but they should at least make it so it works for everyone else too.
So I´ve been reading this topic and watching videos like this: Don't get me wrong, it's an enjoyable game, but I had every right to see that WatchDogs didn't deliver on it's next-gen promises. Yet, I was dumbrated, and have been 'attacked' (for a lack of a better word) ad hominem. The fanboys on Facepunch are so funny and predictable. Why is it so hard to have an objective discussion about something you're a fan of [editline]28th May 2014[/editline] There's 10 DLC Launch packages, but no way to turn off mouse smoothing in the UI, there's millions of glitches and bugs like shown in the video above... multiplayer is completely inaccessible. And yet people paid at least $50 for it, depending on location and platform. Ridiculous. If this keeps going on, a second videogame crash is coming.
The city really feels alive, i think this is the only game other than GTA V that pulls it off this well.
I feel like the stuttering would go away if the game actually made use of the 6GB RAM it requires, it's just constantly sitting at ~2

You also claim to have been "attacked" by others yet you came in here essentially implying that we were all stupid in some way for pre-ordering / buying the game, how do you expect people to respond to that? Not sure why you're so annoyed by the boxes though, it's opinion.
I'm just going to leave this here for those who care:

I think you need to read up yourself? The North American videogame crash was caused by the horribly low quality that games of that time had. Everyone could develop without license, and everything was done to make a quick buck. It's not just warner brothers. It was asking $50 for a horrible port of Pacman, which was in prototype stages, but still released cause the publishers didn't want to miss Xmas. They had 6 weeks to create, market, produce and ship that game. It's just an example, but this was a widespread problem. That's what caused the videogame crash. And the same shit is happening again now. Broken games being shipped, unfinished games being shipped, a shit load of paid DLC. I'm predicting, it'll happen again. It's a matter of time until the public gets fed up with this shit again.

There's nothing next-gen about this, the E3 previews were blatant lies. Sure you can enjoy it, I do enjoy parts of it too, who's trying to prevent you from enjoying it? I just stated my opinion, that all of the above is unacceptable bullshit. People pay good money for this, and we have the right to get a proper product in return. And boxes I don't care about. Boxes without a response, is what annoy me. Have a discussion then, if you disagree with me. It was like this in the GTA V thread, and it's like this here now again. The hype has taken over 80% of the people in this thread, and every criticism is rated dumb and ignored. Why is it so disallowed to be critical.
Pr0fane and other dude -- lets not fight and lets get to the bottom of this Windows 8.1 issue. So far I have tried: 1.) Running the following in Windows 7 compatability mode with Run As Administrator; 1.a) uplay.exe 1.b) ubisoftgamelauncher64.exe 1.c) watch_dogs.exe 2.) Disabled Windows Firewall, Defender and UAC 3.) Prayed to the VG Gods. 4.) Disabled IPv6 (saw a few IPv6 connections in Wireshark) 5.) Tried both wireless and wired connections All to no avail. Can others say what they have tried? We should compile this into some kind of list.

Yeah, they showed off something they couldn't pull off in the final product, we get it, but it makes me wonder if anyone watched any of the other 10+ videos they released for the game showing the graphics before the game was released? It's not like they were hiding the fact that it doesn't look as good as it did back then, they didn't lie about it being as good as it was, so why the big fuss? It's disappointing for sure but damn. Not to mention it's not like they're the first to do it either, not that it excuses it though.
All to no avail. Can others say what they have tried? We should compile this into some kind of list.
Put my PC in the DMZ to make sure it wasn't a port issue, didn't help either
Put my PC in the DMZ to make sure it wasn't a port issue, didn't help either
I made a thread on the Ubisoft forums linking to here and the Reddit thread. http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/883392-Windows-8-1-Multiplayer-Issues?p=9992279#post9992279 Can you guys please post in this thread what you have tried and done? And your experiences too -- just to give Ubisoft more info. I fully anticipate being flamed on the Ubisoft forums by fanbois as usual, but hey, lets see how we go! (optimistic)
Got this for the 360. It's alright but nothing spectacular so far. Graphics don't look as good as expected and draw distance makes the game look terrible in some spots but I suppose that's what I get for not upgrading my console yet. [editline]28th May 2014[/editline] All that said. I haven't tried multiplayer yet and have only done a handful of missions.
quality of the games were brought down by the hardware which was limited by warner brothers entertainment, developers were urged to continue shilling out utter crap because the amount of time and effort required to create something of actual value on the 2600 was retardedly high at that point. hardware limitations back then were massive, now? not so much (look at last gen, that shit ran on the same hardware for fucking ages and still saw massive improvements over time) have a read on nolan bushnells interpretation of the crash, as the man that created what actually caused the crash i'd take his word over yours or whatever sources you obtain your information from we will not see another gaming crash in the same sense of the 2600 crash, why? our hardware will never be as limited as back in the days of the 2600, so unless we decide that hardware never needs to improve then games will always improve, albeit slowly. saying we will have another crash due to "bad games" means you have no idea how bad the crash was back then, how bad the quality of products was back then. we will never see games like pepsi space invaders ever again simply because of consumer consciousness. comparing this to [t]http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/wBGIi9VA_AI/maxresdefault.jpg[/t] is idiocy
The point then was, that consumer were dumped with games that were barely functional, and thus of really poor quality. Why? Because gaming was a goldmine, like it still is. The public was washed away in shit games, pushed out just to make a quick buck. Same shit goes on today. I'm not comparing Pepsi Space Invaders, to Watchdogs. I'm comparing the business ethics, and the attitude the gaming industry has towards the consumers. Walking cashbags. Quality of games are getting lower lower quality, less and less innovation. More and more paid "Snoopdog Call of Duty" DLC, massive day 1 patches with more following in the first week. Massive features like multiplayer completely disfunctional on release. You know damn well what I'm talking about. I will not pretend to believe you really have no idea what I mean, as to not insult your intelligence. Battlefield 4, the entire Call Of Duty series, SimCity, Spore, FarCry 3, the list goes on and on. The coming crash, is going to be about the consumers demanding not to be milked, without getting a quality product in return.

I've been up all night trying to fix it so I'm going to catch some Zzz and try to find a fix when I wake up. Thanks for your help!
Just got this in an email: [t]http://i.imgur.com/QTaGXQx.jpg[/t] I've played for about 8 hours.
what your argument falls down to is "there is no innovation" innovation does not make a good game alone and you should know that also the games perfectly functional for me, downgraded lighting/textures don't remove functionality, they add fidelity
No, what my argument falls down to is: In the good old days people made games because they had a passion for games. Now games are made, because they make lots of money. Nobody blames anyone for trying to make money, but publishers now don't give a shit WHAT they release, as long as lots of money comes in. It's an insult to the consumer to ship them a broken product, with lies in the marketing, and then immediately present a million DLC (read: PAY MORE, MONEYBAG!) options. The game is now second to the moneymaking. You really don't get that?
PSA: Major Bug going around when if you die while being invaded (before the invader's hack turns to 100%), your story mode will be absolutely fucked and there's nothing you can do about it. Happening to people on Consoles, not sure about PC
I don't know how, but I was able to rescue a civilian in a car instead of stealing it from them.
"good old days" "made for passion and not money" "money over quality" in a perfect world where money doesnt exist then everyone would make the best thing they could and only release it when its perfectly done this is not a perfect world, businesses make money and cut corners where they are able. when a product works and to the majority of consumers can be used/played/enjoyed/whatever and is "complete" then it can be shipped business is business.
You pull my argument into the ridiculous, that's not what I said at all. Reductio ad absurdum. As I said nobody is angry that someone is making money. Games can make money, and SHOULD make money. You probably watched this already, and probably thought it was just a funny video. But if you don't get my point after watching this video (which is dumbed down, and made accessible) then you are really too dumb to continue this conversation with. Just to be clear, it's fine if you disagree ofcourse, but currently you do not see what I am trying to say, or you are purposely refusing to acknowledge what I am saying.
finally got a response for my ticket that I made on the 14th regarding me activating Watch Dogs on the wrong account. what did they say? "hi we're unable to move nvidia vouchers for Watch Dogs, we apologies." how hard does it get? it took you nearly half a month to just say that?
I know what you are trying to say, you and many others have beaten that horse beyond the grave "publishers r evul 4 makin guud devs make bad games" "this game is objectively bad becuz EA :(" what you fail to understand that its all opinions, you are free to have your and I am free to have mine. what you cannot say is that the game you are dissapointed with is going to cause the industry to come to a screeching halt if the devs don't listen to you. the phrase entitled gets thrown everywhere after the whole Mass effect thing, but when it comes to arguments about publishers it really just sounds like you think that because you paid 60 dollars you can influence a media giant. in final 2 end dis discussion u r wrong and barely understand business
You are literally too dumb to have this conversation with. I tried. I even said you didn't have to agree, just acknowledge that you get where Im coming from, and again you just presume to know exactly what I mean and think, and generalize me as a "publishers are evil" guy. Sure I know nothing about business. I'll tell my 8 employees that. Talk to you again, when the videogame market crashes in 3-5 years.
