Daytime felt really low-contrast and the colors felt very washed out. That's the best way to summarize it, really. Nighttime looked pretty good, and the water-puddles on grounds and stuff were neat but not really noteworthy.
Also, every single shadow from the trees look super weird. It's like the tree is made out of rubber and just swishing back and forth all over the place.
And this is on Ultra, minus a bit of AO and AA.
Not to mention it lacks any noteworthy art direction whatsoever outside of digital trips. I don't even understand why they wanted to set the game in 2013 so much [sp]aside from the obvious Assassin's Creed story ties[/sp], it feels like wasted potential to me - then again, a lot of the game does.

Gang hideouts grant skillpoints
Holy shit.
In the map screen, in the background very faintly, you can hear the telemetry sound effect from Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan.

For me the game runs at about 60-70 fps with low-medium settings. Game stutters like hell without medium textures on.
I have 2 GTX 680s in SLi, with a i5 4670K cpu...

Not this again.
The game really shines in the poorer districts, there is just so much detail there.

Have two pics of Sleeping Dogs and Watch Dogs, both 4k, max settings, at night while raining.

First of, let's put out of the way the obvious, these are screenshots taken on the highest possible settings on 4k. This is a level of quality very few computers can actually handle at the moment, let alone play it at a decent fps.
Watch Dogs looks objectively better as far as the engine goes, especially when it comes to textures and models, since Sleeping Dogs looks like everything's made of plastic. But the art direction in Sleeping Dogs actually makes it a visually appealing game that has color and atmosphere while Watch Dogs is just a bland, grayed out open world game.
And for the sake of it let's post pics of an ultra-modded GTA IV (2008) and Just Cause 2 (2010).
Yeah but guess what, when your game is about super advanced networks and hackers trying to prevent corporations from control the world, setting it in 2013 downtown chicago isn't exactly the most exciting or interesting setting. Reality's pretty fucking bland, there's a reason why most modern shooters look like a mess of gray sludge.
It's also why sleeping dogs looks better, because hong kong is actually really colorful to begin with and makes for a much better game environment than chicago.
The art direction is the City of Chicago, and they nailed it.

My roommate is disappointed with the Chicago because he thinks it should be 100% accurate and that San Andreas was a more realistic representation. Needless to say he's never been to L.A. :v:
But yeah why is the game in 2013 anyway? What could have been near future is now blatant alternate universe. That's the only part I find odd

He wants a 100% accurate Chicago, the game would take a decade to complete.
Also the game is in 2013 because that was the original release date.
He doesn't know much about game development he's a console pleb

While it would be cool as shit, a video game in a scale accurate major city with this LOD isn't happening for a long time. Not until we can autogenerate maps using info from something like Google Streetview.
Also it would turned into Traffic Jam Simulator.
He was p much only disappointed because our completely unimportant dorm building wasn't in the game
It is kind of weird that there's no State Street at all but it seems they combined elements of it with Michigan so nbd
Apparently, the age generation can sometimes be fairly low on special situations. I was doing a gang hideout, and one of the gang members was a fifteen-year-old elite. I always thought eighteen was the youngest you could see in the game. Fifteen is not exactly a 'kid', but still pretty young. I don't think you see that in many games these days, especially since I could have easily capped him in the head.

That's just like
your opinion though
I think this is the best game to come out this year so far, definitely going to play it again when they patch it
But then again I have relatively unique opinions about games, imo Bioshock, Dota (all mobas really), CS for example are complete garbage, and Wolfenstein was okay but not deserving all the praise it gets (2009 version was better)

Wolf Among Us, Wolfenstein The New Order, South Park, Dark Souls 2, MGS Ground Zeroes, Mario Kart 8 are all good contenders to that. Not to mention the upcoming games that'll be out this year.

I didn't mean GOTY, I just like this game the most out of the ones I played this year.

it's a tie I guess
Yeah it's almost like the game's not that good.
Its funny because while Delta has a hardon for loving (which is valid but sometimes a bit silly) the game you have a hardon for shitting all over it at any possible chance you can.
Its getting old.
it's a bit juvenile to say the least
Is anyone disappointed that there could have been more in the Multiplayer scene of the game? (ESPECIALLY CURRENT-GEN CONSOLES?(they only have tailing, hacking, and racing lol))

I like Freeroam, but it's definitely lackluster. They could have done so much more with it, like allowing you to do fixer contracts, randomly generated gang hideouts against the AI, co-op for digital trips, NVZN, Cash run, and most importantly, allowing the police to attack more than one player.

That sounds like the Division.
I doubt they'd compete against themselves.
