I'm probably going to play disconnected from the internet. The last thing I want is some wanker coming into my game and stopping the train I'm on or stealing my money.

It said PixxelFD which is the name of one of the "FragDolls".

Initially that was also my reaction, having someone interfere with my session could be annoying but after watching this recent demo I'm actually looking forward to that aspect the most.

I can definitely see the appeal but it's not for me. I really really liked how it worked in Dark Souls, but I wouldn't mind the connected at all times world either, I love persistent connectivity throughout the world while playing alone I think it can add to the immersion if done right.
You kinda seem invincible, don't you think? You can even slow time.
Watch Dogs ran on PC in the conference
How do you know?
You kinda seem invincible, don't you think? You can even slow time.
It was a press presentation. Pretty sure they turn on a bunch of invincibility and infinite ammo cheats (just make sure it isn't present to the audience. Their screen will still go all "bloody screen so real" but they won't actually die) because if they died it would be pretty embarrassing.
because letting the character die in a gameplay demo at a big press conference is totes ok
You kinda seem invincible, don't you think? You can even slow time.
It's probably like Max Payne. When you need it, you can get a temporary slow-down to shoot better. They probably activated it by hand during the dramatic sequences for cinematic effect. I turned on slow-mo in Max Payne whenever something awesome happened for the added awesomeness.
Because it had a bar pop up, it looks like its a triggered thing makes sense, because otherwise doing the fuse box pop timed just right would be impossible
I hope you can leave messages or something when you hack things, similar to dark souls. Can just imagine jumping into someone's world and just hacking all nearby billboards to have 'TITS' in big black bold writing on a white background. Really confuse the shit out of someone. Or even see if they notice and are paying attention.

I do hope they put something like that in the game, it'd be fun. With or without though, Watchdogs looks like pure sex.
How do you know?
GTTV had one of the Ubisoft guys over in their post-show and he said it.
At first I thought "oh shit man having someone always watching me or fucking with me would really ruin the game experience." Then I realized it actually hits the game's point dead on. With today's world, everyone is connected. Everything you do can be monitored and fucked with. You can do it in the game, and it means it can be done to you. It really adds to the total experience. I just hope you don't have player name tags all over the place, so you'd have to do a little digging to find players. Maybe on the identifier thing it pulls up no record or something on players, making it one of the few ways to identify it as a player. (Apart from the obvious human behavior) This could bring about gamemodes that friends make where you hide in the city, walking around or doing whatever and the other person has to find you or something. There is a lot of potential and I hope most of it is utilized. Also being able to hack billboards and digital signs to leave your own messages would be kickass. Imagine your walking past a news ticker that's on the side of the building and suddenly it says "Knock Knock <Your name here>." That'd be so horrifying and awesome.
That's basically the point the camera didn't pop up with a nametag until after he hit it with the profiler
I hope the MC is likeable.
This game continues to wow me, no other games did that to me.
Apparently Watch Dogs is coming to Wii U as well. I'm kind of interested in how the game will use/tale advantage of the tablet controller.
Dark Souls has taught me that persistent, forced multiplayer can add more tension than any AI enemies or scripted scenarios can. Color me hype. [editline]21st February 2013[/editline] Also that baton, it's like I'm really J.C. Denton

I swear, if Ubi screws up with Day-1-DLC or some BS... I reeaally want to give them all the monies for this game. Against all odds I'm also intrigued by the multiplayer (that'll hopefully come with an opt-out anyway) after the suggestions in this thread. Exciting stuff all around.
Ubisoft will probably have Day-1-DLC. I don't really know if you can call it screwing up "anymore". Gamers might not like it, but it's how these things work now. That being said, I am excited for the game. It seems like devs are going for the singleplayer while online experience more and more.
I have the feeling that the game doesn't contain as much free roam and dynamic events as they're hyping it up to have, the examples they've shown us look scripted as fuck and are obviously being set up to demonstrate the mechanics/gameplay. I dunno, it's making me anxious.
The only thing to me Ubisoft screwed so far was Splinter Cell, but Far Cry 3 has been fantastic fun for me, they've really nailed the freeroam. I think they'll pull of what they're claiming they will to a close degree.
I have to stash away 150 € for a possible collector's edition at some point...
If they pull this off properly this is GOTY material.
Also that baton, it's like I'm really J.C. Denton
i'm wondering what that guy's first thoughts are gonna be when (if?) he regains consciousness i mean, some trenchcoat-wearing dude jumped from a random bush pointing a gun at you, parkoured like Alex Mercer when you tried to make your escape, somehow blew a fuse box in your face, and then pulled that crazy leap and beat you senseless with a telescopic baton he pulled from his sleeve can an average person's day get any crazier?
I don't know how I'd never heard of this before this morning. Shit looks incredible
