I hope there's gonna be actual playable dogs on release.
And just the way the NPCs seem to be reacting is so realistic.
I really liked in the first trailer how one NPC tried to rescue a car crash victim and you even got the option to do so yourself AND the guy you rescued was in shock because his driver friend had been headshotted by an enemy just before. I hope this is completely dynamic ingame, would make the world feel really alive. And the more the world feels alive and real, the better the "omg privacy invasion" theme can be executed.
I'm looking forward to playing as an Intruder. I'm gonna roleplay it out, psychological warfare style. Drop subtle little hints that they're being watched, spy on them from a rooftop, hide in plain sight as a pedestrian... I can't say the same for the 12 year old sperglords who'll run at you with a machine gun, while calling in a dozen police helicopters as backup.
So, when you invade someone else's game, you're just a random pedestrian?
That would be pretty neat, the stealth aspect of it at least.
So, when you invade someone else's game, you're just a random pedestrian?
Wait you can get invaded here like dark souls kinda? Holy shit my hype meter went through the fucking roof.
I really hope that's the case. If nothing else, the game will need some cosmetic difference between players (because how dumb would it be to have two dudes in trench coats and baseball caps), so Ubi will need some mechanic to change the looks of the other player. I really hope it's something akin to Assassin's Creed multiplayer, so you can hide from the host in plain sight. Add to that the idea someone had earlier about leaving messages for the host on billboards, etc and you have a white-knuckle-tense multiplayer experience. [editline]21st February 2013[/editline] If Ubi can bring everything they've learned from AC multiplayer to Watch Dogs, then this should be pretty damn awesome.
Please let this happen, insta-buy from me if we can fuck with one another Dark Souls style.
If Ubi can bring everything they've learned from AC multiplayer to Watch Dogs, then this should be pretty damn awesome.
I've watched somebody play Brotherhood's multiplayer, that cat and mouse system of identifying other players and taking them down would be amazing in this
One of the little things I liked was you actually heard the 911 call which means what i want to do is intrude a game, get to a tall building, take out a sniper rifle and shoot the ground next to him a few times and cause panic [editline]21st February 2013[/editline] AFAIK the intruder system is you are working as a different hacker who's part of this group whose motives are unknown, but in the e3 trailer there were like 5 in the game. So intruding is done as the random hacker, playing your game is as Pearce
Holy balls I had no idea a new trailer was out. If this game manages to be even half as good as it looks like it will, it's gonna be the greatest fucking game nonetheless. Really hoping Ubisoft shows their good side this time.
holy fuck that PS4 gameplay its like assasins creed-meets gta iv-meets mirrors edge hngggg
It was on PC.
I'm sure there will be an option to disable unwanted people dropping in.
For a "zero digital footprint" kind of guy, Pierce/Pearce? is pretty obvious and loud. I mean he chases some dickwad down the streets waving his gun around and right into the view of the cops. For the purpose of the demo perhaps, but there was only one guy reported waving his gun around. Now that I think about it. The demo was pretty much Person of Interest the game.
I thought it was retarded that he didn't just put his gun away, no one saw him chase the guy in the alley. Then again, that many cops responding that fast is pretty impossible too.
I thought it was retarded that he didn't just put his gun away, no one saw him chase the guy in the alley. I don't see how 5 copcars can be on scene ten seconds after the call comes in?
I don't see how 5 copcars can be on scene ten seconds after the call comes in?
It takes 30 seconds for the first cops to appear from the call. That could totally be possible in the future. Even not in the future, they might have just been near.
So is the whole intruder system confirmed? Furthermore, what's all this talk of something similar in Dark Souls? I never played it.
So is the whole intruder system confirmed? Furthermore, what's all this talk of something similar in Dark Souls? In all seriousness, if this is going to have a similar mechanic, I hope there's an option to disable it, because there's nothing more immersive then having "XxC0P4C4PK1LLA_1337xX has connected" popping up after finishing a story essential quest in a singleplayer game.

I don't know man, I think this mechanic adds so much more to it, like it adds so much to dark and demon's souls.
The invasion mechanic sounds great on paper but it will probably get ruined because of all the kiddies and cheaters. Reminds me of "The Crossing" that never finished game where multiplayer was singleplayer. The "invasion" mechanic here and in DS is similar to that but on a lesser scale. It would've been awesome if they added an option to play as a policeman and chase the player if someone dials 911 on him. Outsmarting the player and his gadgets only with your mind. Or to scale things up a bit you could have another player as police commander with overview cam calling cops and positioning them. Maybe he'd have to use helicopters and these wallcams to see where player is going. But that's a different game now.
i have never been so excited for a game than right now this looks perfect that commented video in the OP where he stops a potential murder then gets chased by the police looks so good, i cried.
I agree that the intrusion mechanic would add to the game. Providing it is done well, I wouldn't particularly mind if there wasn't a "turn off everything" button. If it turned me off so much, I wouldn't buy the game. In this case, it would be a selling point.

Just in case I run into you.
I dunno, wannabe h4x0rs could actually fit in the setting that's similar to cyberpunk, just not as far in the future and not as rich with vivid conflicts from what we currently know. In fact, the more "internet-y" the nickname the more it would fit the cliché. But it's real. So reality becomes stranger than fiction. I'm So Meta Even This Acronym. I wouldn't want to take away the option to play without intruders tho. You'll probably just have to set UPlay to offline or something. Also in regards to the talk above, the player obviously went through all that trouble to show it off mechanics. Cops arriving really quickly could be either for demo reasons, to keep the game fluid and tense (like DeMarcho's rapid appearance in the first trailer) or it's actually excused by the setting - it is all about Big Brother and connectivity after all.
Will probably be looked on as vintage at that point.
The scene we saw on the 20th was a sidequest right? If so I'm more hyped.
