I don't really get this guy like what kind of dude gains access to hacking nearly every fucking electronic thing there is with a cellphone
The glory of a jailbroken phone.
I hope to see some PS4 footage then because i'm debating whether to buy it on PC or on PS4
the "PS4" trailer was a PC with about the same specs of a PS4 so it shouldn't look much different than that. Although I would imagine that if you can max it there should be no reason not to get it on PC.
Not sure if posted, here's the cover art.
I find the cover art awfully generic, to be quite frank. A sophisticated-looking game like Watch Dogs should have a better cover.
Just WATCH_DOGS with that font they used on a black background.
Something about the protagonist looks off to me Don't really know what though
I find the cover art awfully generic, to be quite frank. They should add exploding planes in the background, tanks and eyeblinding badges&medals in the middle of screen too, this would grant them more sales, I'm sure of it. But seriously, Some simple digital like cover would be hundreds of times better than this...casual one. Show on cover what the game is about. I can't tell here... all I can say from cover is: "I think guy got an SMS about Russian or UFO invasion/zombie outbreak/Death of his wife caused by mafia guys and now he is going on rampage killing with his trusty pistol". That's what I would say if someone would ask me what can I read from that cover on a quick look.
Something about the protagonist looks off to me Don't really know what though
The fact that he's dressed up like a petty criminal?
What is it with people and hating any cover art involving the protagonist holding a gun?
What is it with people and hating any cover art involving the protagonist holding a gun?
because it's boring and generic
because it's boring and generic
But it appeals to people who have never heard of this game. The people that have heard of this game have seen the gameplay and will most likely buy the game even if the coverart sucks. It boosts their sales.
because it's boring and generic
I like this one, even if it's just Jensen with a gun and bunch of nacho pieces [t]http://dustygamer.mcmuumio.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/DeusExHumanRevolutionCover1.png[/t]
because it's boring and generic
And this wouldn't be?
Just WATCH_DOGS with that font they used on a black background.
Aiden Pearce should be played by Jim Caviezel. Then he can simply be known as the 'man in a suit.'
Aiden Pearce should be played by Jim Caviezel. Then he can simply be known as the 'man in a suit.'
BTW everyone should watch Person of Interest. It good. Also this makes me want some police arch-nemesis that you gots to fight against throughout the story. Would love that shit.
There's probably some PoI gags in there somewhere. Like a hacker called H_F1nch or something.
Maybe he'll have a voice cameo as the guy that dispatches the player-hackers against Pierce.
There was a better collage out there, but I didn't save it. That one had actually fused various box art protagonists together because of how similar their poses were. These are all very bland and generic to those familiar with the subject matter, but it's a rather effective technique for informing the viewer of what they're getting into and who they will be playing as. I don't like them myself, but it's easy and effective, so yeah.
Orange and blue is a very common colour pallet used with movie/game posters and covers in general.
I really like that kind of box art, feels fucking radical and hell it does a good job of setting a tone.
I can only see the simple colour logo on a single colour background only working in a dark, neon-y, electric style thing. Chicago doesn't remind me of darkness or neon. I guess the gun holding Pierce works.
Box art like the above communicates exactly what it needs to I don't know why people get so mad about it. You are a badass motherfucker who is about to seriously fuck up some assholes, occasionally while wearing a pimp-ass coat. [editline]24th February 2013[/editline] Though the watchdogs one should totally have the baton instead of a boring gun.
Or maybe something else. A perspective from Pearce's side, he's leaning against a wall in a busy street while ruining someone's day with his phone. Maybe hide the face a little with his cap, and show a hint of the baton in his unused hand.
BTW everyone should watch Person of Interest. It good.
All of a sudden the idea isn't as original as I previously saw it as :v: Hope there's just as much reward for being a colossal douche as there is being a nice guy (because you better believe that power corrupts, and besides hard to say you're a good guy if you chase down the occasional bad guy but then go and crash two cop cars).
All of a sudden the idea isn't as original as I previously saw it as :v:
I don't mind all that much, love the show and want the game all the more.
What is it with people and hating any cover art involving the protagonist holding a gun?
It's just a really dull composition. I enjoyed Halo 2, 3, ODST and 4's cover art despite it essentially just being a super soldier holding a gun and nothing more. Good colors and composition made them aesthetically pleasing, something the Watch Dogs cover isn't IMO. It sort of tries to have some complimentary colors but ends up being contrastless and blasé. But creating a good cover art that has wide market appeal can be combined with originality, and when it is it often becomes iconic for the series and boosts sales. Examples of this are the iconic Left 4 Dead or Borderlands covers. The Watch Dogs cover isn't aesthetically appealing and has no elements on it to separate it from the competition, and is simply forgettable. That's not wide market appeal, that's bad marketing.
The cover art should be similar to the "digital world" you see in the trailers, Like, a overview of the city, isometric or similar, with some buildings highlighted to form the title. Or maybe the above, but within the phone screen, with Aiden's face reflected of it. It would fit the theme of the game more than having Aiden standing in the street holding a gun and phone.
The game's tag line is 'everything is connected.' and the cover should visualise it. They should change it.
You can preorder on Amazon for PS4 for $99 USD is this going to be the new price of games or is it just a placeholder?
Personally I don't think I know enough about the game to think about an alternative box art. If it's very focused on the MC and how he deals with everything, then I'm actually fine with the character. If it's more about the setting and possibilities, I'd change the focus to what he does with his phone. Maybe some fancy car crash in the center while he's on the left with his phone in one hand pointing at it (some lines from it going to the traffic lights and maybe from the traffic lights to the rest of the city in the background to show the connectivity) and gun in the other so people don't think it's just about the magic smartphone.
