Hope they clear it up asap.
There's nothing to clear up, PC version is exactly what's been advertised.
The PS4 look like this, the XB1 build will look identical but in a slightly lower native resolution.

And the DX9 builds of the game look like

PS4: 1080p/30fps
Xbox One: 960p/30fps
PC: up to 4K/framerate varies
Anyone who expected the console builds to look like the PC build max settings we're sorely mistaken.
What a surprise, for once the consoles are getting the shitty port.
Makes up for the many years of shitty-console-ports for PC.
Shitty backlash or not, Ubi are hardly the good guys in this situation, either.

It's pretty shitty how much they insist that is hasn't been downgraded, when a single look at any of the new footage shows so much less of a living world than their early reveals, the world looks so much more static, despite supposedly being from the PS4 version.
All Watch Dogs E3 presentations including the demo shown off at the Sony 2013 PS4 press conference was the PC build of the game. Latest trailer is the PS4 build of the game. Why are people surprised the PC version has the best quality? The game still looks incredible on the PS4.
Yeah I can't help but laugh at all the people complaining about the graphics, we'll have to wait and see what the final product will look like on PC but I'm not too worried and I very much doubt it'll be far off from what we've seen at E3. Makes sense it'd be downgraded for consoles, even next-gen, I fully expected it to happen.
The game still looks incredible on the PS4.
All of the assets are still current gen-looking, though. Besides the largely improved rendering resolution, basing my stance just off of what footage Ubisoft has deemed good enough to show off the game with, it really looks like a current gen game with some advanced motion blur.
I'm not knocking the game and it still looks very good, but they've been promoting it like the holy grail of graphics, despite there being an obvious difference in quality over the years. They're not the only ones guilty of it, but showing off PC footage at an event for a new console and constantly branding it as next-gen (read: "this is how next gen should look", etc) when the console versions look nothing like that, is shitty practice.

it's standard practice
[editline]7th March 2014[/editline]
since nextgen is way more like pc architecture, they can basically build for pc, and then scale down the graphics for xb1 and ps4

Every single game shown off at the PS4 press conference was either PC or dev build of the game. PS4's hardware wasn't a thing yet. Infact the same goes for most of the XB1 press conference last year.
Not only is this marketing 101, E3 demonstrations are not the final representation of any product.
I'm not denying that it's common, especially with what happened with BF4's showcase, I'm just saying that it's a shitty practice to build up a false image like that for console players.

Perhaps the target presentation for the next gen console builds of the game we're on par with the PC build, but limitations forced them to balance the settings.
The trailer they released yesterday is an accurate representation of the PS4 build, so how are they giving a false image to console players.

They aren't any more, but up until that point they were trying to pass it all off as next-gen footage.

Except it was noted that all media prior to that point is the PC version of the game. They never attempted to deceive anyone on that point. And again, this goes down to the simple fact that you don't know what their desired visual presentation for the ps4/xb1 builds of the game were in the past, opposed the final product.
"Next gen" consoles aren't that powerful.
Honestly, after playing both the wii u and pc version of AC4, I have no doubts that the pc version of this will look amazing
so, any interesting info from the livestream QA?
idk if it's new, but AJ tweeted 8 people can roam together.
Fuck sakes ubisoft have misled me twice now, I pre ordered the game for PS4 believing it'd be out in november with the graphics they showed at e3. It's now been like half a year onwards now without the game I paid for and the graphics are supposedly downgraded a fuckton
this is honestly disheartening

this could be interesting, i wonder if they'll all be trying to hack each other, could lead to some very exciting chase scenes maybe

just because the console versions aren't as pretty as the pc version doesn't make them bad ports.
Geez there sure is a lot of drama over a few graphics

You seriously expect either "next gen" consoles to be able to run the game at max specs? Both consoles have a Beautiful build of the game! Perhaps you should do your research instead of complaining about false info.

Exactly how much is a few graphics?
Geez there sure is a lot of drama over a few graphics
I can see where it's coming from though. Barely any developers, let alone Ubisoft, have ever properly delivered on the promises they make at conventions. As a game that's riding on quite a few more promises than the average game, it's got a pretty high chance of not being what we expected we'd get as an end product.
That being said, I'm fully aware that the top-notch graphics were on the PC version, but that doesn't mean they won't cut things people were really hoping to see.

The PC build of Watch Dogs is exactly what it was advertised as.
oh you sneaky bastard you edited your post.
I seen the game in action on the PC 2 times, I've personally play it twice. The game is exactly what is was advertised as. Don't jump to conclusions that they are gonna cut stuff. The PC version is the lead platform!

Iunno, I'm hoping you're right. I'd like PC to have a non-port for once as much as you do. I'm just saying that there's a chance that things have changed since the last public release and that those changes could always be for better or worse. Probably just me being pessimistic, but nonetheless.
Ubi should really do what Kojima did with MGS, show every version on ingame screenshots or gameplay footage

Except i can verify otherwise. As I said, I've played the game 3 times, most recently being early February. They aren't doing anything but improving the quality and stability of the PC build. That's not gonna change for worse, they delayed the game 3 times because they are striving for the quality they intended from the start.

I really do hope that you are right.
I'm tired of PC being a shovelware zone for awfuly dreadful console ports, that lack any kind of basic functionality for PC, where whole game barely runs at 40 fps and looks like 2006 piece of crap at highest details.

They were developing this game during the desing and construction of two different consoles that were both release targets, AND and they were developing for tje last gen consoles on top of that. They were firing at a moving target.
PS4: 1080p/30fps

xbox one 960p, not 1080..
take a few steps back. 960 is pretty fucking close to 1080. 120 pixels off. Also, is the vertical res the same? Is it a proportional lower res? *I genuinely want to know*
I mean, the reason people typically pine for full 1080p is less because of the higher amount of high frequency detail, and more because of the higher image quality that comes from not having to be upscaled by the shitty methods we have available. Shadow Fall's temporal upscaling is pretty damn crazy. People knew there was something up, but no one knew what it was until there was an official word. Even then, no one expected it to be like HALF the horizontal rez of what it was eventually upscaled to. I wanna see more creative stuff like that on the XBO's side of things.
