I hope there's a more sensible way to do shit than what they do in that gameplay video, mess with the lights to cause a traffic pileup which gets several civvies killed in the following firefight, then heroically save a guy from a car to come off as the good guy.
Also that cop system looks too familiar.
I don't think the saving part was especially heroic. He just pulled the guy out of his car. Didn't check if he's actually alright or something.
Even if you're an Anti-Hero that goes by a "the end justifies the means" attitude, you don't have to be a dick in every situation just because.

I'm curious about whether the game expects you to end up hurting innocents. From the list of options he had, it didn't seem like there was a better way to stop the guy.
"Ah, you're using yourself as bait, I love it because it's such a terrible idea!"
I already love that asian dude.
Looks pretty. I just hope they don't go with that "Always connected" DRM, then i'll just go and pirate it.

that would be ironic as fuck given the premise of the game.

"Connection is power, but be careful what you do with it."
it's like GTA meets Deus Ex.
And it's fucking awesome.
One of the things I love about watch dogs is how it just literally came out of nowhere. No teasers or anything before the E3, just bam new awesome looking IP out of nowhere.
Most of the hacking sequences looks scripted, still looks promising though

That one part left me amazed. The raindrops and focusing play and bokeh and everything looks fucking AMAZING. And the slomo came out of nowhere.
I'm feeling quite ambivalent about the bokeh. It looks sexy as fuck in video, but i have shitty eyesight and it gives me headaches in games, since I'm straining my eyes to focus on something, when in fact the game is making it OOF on purpose. I do love the lighting and how it reflects off water.
Also, is it just me or does this game look way better when it's dark? Something about the daytime sequences is a bit bland.
That part convinced me this can't be current gen.
It's PC footage though, it still might be current-gen but with cut-down visuals for consoles
People just tone down your expectations because you will be disappointed like with Spore

Night makes all the lights and light effect prettier because of the contrast. Maybe that's it?

Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.
I guess this is a 2013 release yea?

I'm thinking the guy could have just set the traffic light to red on the road Marcos was on, then just walked up and shot him through the window and ran off.
I hope other developers will learn from this announcement to show new games instead of showing the ones we already know enough about
I love this part of the art gallery:

This game has a really interesting mix between present and cyberpunk. Post-Cyberpunk perhaps?
I like that the little dot as the crosshair. It looks like the one on the Max Payne games, and I love those.
First time I saw the name of the game I thought it was Sleeping Dogs.
By the way, what does IP mean?
intellectual property. stuff like Star Wars, Half-Life, Crash Bandicoot, Halo etc are IPs.

Goddam ninja
Interesting Concept that has potential but right now I can't make much of a judgement

Marcos had heavy security, and he likely would have recognized the player on sight, since even his peons know what he looks like. His security detail also wouldn't let anyone get close enough to shoot through the windshield with a handgun, especially since a stop in traffic is considered a seriously dangerous time in PSD work. The reason a crash is better is that it completely immobilizes the vehicle, whereas a red light doesn't do shit to stop Marcos from driving away.
I think they just did it to show some action, gunplay and 'splosions and how NPCs respond to what you're doing. You probably also could have hidden and waited for him to arrive and get out of the car, but that's not exactly as cinematic.
Montreal was also being ACreed I think, I'd be surprised if they didn't incorporate this degree of non-linearity into this game.
another game to look forward to
Fuck this game.
It exploded my awesome meter, now I have to get a new one. :(
Also upon review it really seems that cross section scene wasn't scripted because the player seems to actively time it with the turquoise target indicator on his mini map. I almost forgot the mini map even existed because I was so into the footage.
Your abilities seem kind of situational tho. I wonder how that's going to fare.
Hack someones conference to shown porn to publicly embarrass them.
I never buy Ubisoft published games because I hate their logo, it's so ugly, especially seeing it on game cases.
I could probably get over it for this game, though.
This has to be one of the dumbest things I've read on why someone boycotts a company.
