Been playing it, there doesn't seem to be anything the game does particularly well, let alone better than other open world games. The shooting is mediocre at best, the driving fluctuates between fairly good and "I'm going to stop responding even though this isn't a fast car, or a muscle car", all of the side quests are identical, and being unable to shoot from cars makes the convoy sessions really lame (Unless there is some tutorial I missed).
I really don't get why people preoder anyways, that is too risky imho
it's too easy to be screwed over
if it really matters, wait until reviews are in / get it on sale with everything you'd get preorder anyways (usually the benefits are shit anyways though)
I feel that the cheaper I get a game the more happy I will be with it in the end. So long as I actually legitimately have purchased it.
Uh no not at all actually we're getting reports of integral issues at this point, whether they're accurate or not is one thing you could question, but you might try reading the thread really to answer yours.
holy shit, have your own opinion and learn to gamble with games. because people on the internet don't like it don't go and cancel your pre-order without actually having your own opinion. isn't that the purpose of pre-ordering new titles
the game has its flaws but i've really been enjoying the story and the overall feel to the change of scenarios within the campaign. fuck the graphics, i don't care about that nextgen shit. i'm happy with the sr4 engine vibe i'm getting. 8 straight hours of playing and i'm forcing myself to stop to sleep.

I like pre-ordering if it's at a physical shop as it's easy to get a refund/cancel even well after the game is out. That way if I want the game, I get the bonuses and if I don't, it's no loss.
Just got it for 35$ because I took what I enjoyed and appraised it to be about that and for a newly released game, it's not half bad. In fact, it's almost 50% off.

I mean yeah on one hand I'm told to wait until reviews are out and listen to other peoples' opinions, and on the other hand I'm told to have my own.
Well the game is shipped apparently so looks like I'll get to have my own! But you can't really have an opinion if you don't have the game.
Wanted to upgrade my card anyways, so getting it for free wasn't too bad.
What's your CPU usage like?
Care to run it in Windowed and take a screenshot of Task Manager showing graphs for all 8 logical cores?
And while you're at it, RAM usage, disk usage, and page pool size (though I don't remember whether Win7's task manager can show the latter)?
Also, I assume it's installed on the HDD?
As far as I can tell it uses all 8 cores (although sometimes the 8th core gets very low usage for some reason)
I never understood why people use a non base-2 amount of RAM. Doesn't that hinder/affect performance/usefulness?
I lent a 4gb stick to a friend because RAM is the only thing he hasn't bought for his computer yet :v:

Honestly. Just try it out.
I can see why some people are picking on the game and what parts they don't like, but so far I think the story is pretty solid and fun to play. And if you start using your profiler to hack into peoples conversations it gets pretty funny too.
Sure, the driving physics are a bit fucked up, but it's okay when you adapted for some time. The graphics may be downgraded, but the game still looks and feels fucking awesome. And who knows what the 27th may bring.
Looks like I can get refunded in points. I think I will get the special edition key, which is actually cheaper than what I bought the standard edition for. Weird.
Whatever, make every penny worth it.
Have any of you actually played the MP yet?
i think that's where the game will shine w/ friends.
Welp, decided to get a refund since the game gets to stale fast, can't justify the price. Too bad i only got Wallet Credit.

don't worry, summer sale is coming

"Learn to gamble with games"
-The thing that's wrong with the industry
Just another example of why a real demo that you can play is so important for the customer. You should always suspect something is off when you only get rehearsed and tightly controlled previews rather than a demo on top of a game being sliced and diced into 10 different editions
One thing I found extremely disappointed with this game is the lack of radio stations.
And Car On Demand just spawning vehicles unlike Sleeping Dogs where some Asian drifts in to deliver your car.
And you can only purchase drinks in fast food restaurants. What the fuck.
If anybody still doesn't understand TotalBiscuit's campaign against pre-ordering - read the last few pages of this thread.
It is over £100 to get all the content available after all.
This game is too intense for my PC :v:
I keep bluescreening.
I can't be the only one [sp] who got a great batman feeling at the end of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL7PSlUuWPs this scene. Like I'd killed two face. [/sp]

So, what's the general consensus on the game? Is it bad, or are people just cancelling their pre-orders because a few people said its crap?

That is silly it says Aiden Pearce is Jacksons father then says Nicole is the mother even though they are brother and sister.
Edit : Aaaand you fixed it and made me look silly.
So, what's the general consensus on the game? Is it bad, or are people just cancelling their pre-orders because a few people said its crap?
I looked at some gameplay vids at youtube and it looks pretty good to me
for every game there will be some people saying its crap
So, what's the general consensus on the game? Is it bad, or are people just cancelling their pre-orders because a few people said its crap?
It's not bad, it just doesn't live fully up to its hype.
It doesn't have the depth everyone expected, despite that though I'm enjoying it quite a lot personally.
It also seems like a decent portion of the game is based around the multiplayer which no one here has really had a chance to try yet so it could turn around a little.
If there's anyone here that has finished it already, how long is the game?
i'm somewhat tempted to cancel my pre-order and buy wolfenstein with the money i get back, but i'm just gonna wait it out and play this in order to make my own conclusions. it's my free money so whatever
If there's anyone here that has finished it already, how long is the game?
Someone said 39 missions long, 60 if you got all the content from the separate editions
Someone said 39 missions long, 60 if you got all the content from the separate editions
how much is that in gameplay hours?
So, what's the general consensus on the game? Is it bad, or are people just cancelling their pre-orders because a few people said its crap?
It's fun. Just not 60 € fun. Maybe 30 € fun if we're stretching it.
Someone said 39 missions long, 60 if you got all the content from the separate editions

Also, 39 missions. That means if they didn't cut the game into 9 different versions it would probably be closer to 60. Fuck you, Ubi.
I don't really think they part and parceled the game into half, then sold half of it away in pre-order bonuses. One is like, four missions, and the rest are either one or just a pack of guns and an outfit.
Am I the only one who's still having stutters after installing the new beta drivers?
