But what if you have real life to deal with? Why punish people for having a life?
This is the most retarded thing ive read all day.
Casual CS is for people that want to leave the game whenever, if you accept a competitive match you have to commit for 60 minutes. Same with DOTA and LoL.
Actually bots fucking suck and die all the times so you've actually got jack shit because Valve doesn't think scaling bot difficulty based on skill level is a smart idea.
If only the bots wouldn't refuse to your commands... I hate it when I spam "Hold This Position" and the bot still rushes to hell. Even worst when there's one with the C4.
This is something Valve could fix and wouldn't require much work, it's simple and would help the disadvantage cases of 4vs5, 3vs5...

The cooldown system is designed in a way that it understands that. Sometimes something unexpected comes up, hey, it happens, you get a 30 minute, maybe 2 hours or heck a 1 day penalty. It's not exactly punishing and it's pretty much an "alright lets get back to playing when everything is sorted out".
7 days is intended for those people who CANT sort their shit out, it's there to force people to take some responsibility for no wasting 4 of the other peoples time. It says you have to be ready to put 90 minutes in, if you get emergencies 4 times a week and then 1 a week every next week something is really wrong and you should look into getting stuff sorted out before hopping into competitive.
The punishments are anything but harsh, they're pretty mild, yet still somewhat fair.
You still have 3 minutes to reconnect in case of a emergency. One thing you can do, if you're in a emergency, like someone reachs your ringbell, house phone, garage opens, mom's telling you to get something, this common things that happen everyday. Type 'quit' in the csgo console, it'll not count as a abandon, and the 3min wait will start. Your team will be affected with 1 bot, but if they're good, they can wait 3 minutes without any loss.
Then you can tell your visitor that you're in a important metting with your boss at skype. (and then they hear you screming "COMEON F*G THAT B*TCH WAS MINE, DONT STEAL MY FRAGS PIECE OF SH*"
Competitive cooldowns are necessary, well made and fair. There's even a warning, as ferdam said, if you accept a competitive match you have to commit for a match that can last up to 90 minutes !

3 minutes isn't long enough for me to restart CSGO, let alone my PC, so I'm basically fucked unless I crash during loading screen. See, for some weird reason CSGO takes up all of my everything when it's launched and slightly afterwards, and my PC is way too slow to wake if it's a whole PC crash.
7 days is still overkill.
you have 72 games; finish your steam backlog

It's closer to 5 minutes, there is a grace period of one round. But yes it is punishing on people with bad computers, increasing it to 5 minutes should settle any and all issues with that.

really if you're playing competitive at 28fps you shouldn't be playing competetive in the first place.
But what if you have real life to deal with? Why punish people for having a life?
But what if you were an organized person and didn't discriminate others by saying they don't have a real life?

You'd be surprised how quickly 4,5 minutes can pass when you're rushing to boot everything back up and you don't have an ssd.
i have a good PC and all, but when my internet disconnects itself then it takes 2-6 minutes to get it back, so if i lose my connection then i have to worry about getting banned and thats not fun

You either hide behind a screen and dumb everything you disagree with or you post and contribute to discussions, unlike some in this thread as it seems. It's unfortunate. There's too much rating bandwagoning.
As for the Competitive problem, I don't want to come across as harsh but, deal with it. Valve aren't going to change it, they don't care about your network or hardware issues.
It sucks being kicked off a game for 7 days because of your perceived fault of the software, but go do something else, I'm sure there's plenty of other games you haven't discovered in your library yet.
The last thing I said was that I'm still pissed that the glitchy menu screwed my change to reconnect. I'm not complaining about it banning me for my own hardware problems.

While it is Valve's fault that the main menu for some reason lags a fuckload, it's yours for never looking into how to fix it by renaming a single .swf file in your csgo file.
Although it's not my job or purchase to fix Valve's games for them, I highly doubt that an unstable menu can be fixed by renaming something.
So in other words, it's the company's fault for breaking it, but he customer's fault for not fixing it? I think it goes the other way around.

"This thing is broken"
"Okay, here's how you can fix it in four easy ste-"
"It's not my job to fix it so I'm just going to keep bitching about it until it possibly never gets fixed."
If you're not taking the initiative to make it work when it's as simple as browsing to a folder and hitting delete on your keyboard, quit crying about it.
:snip:
You're talking about the lag issue - that is not the case, so there is no fix.
Read.
I think you should read your own posts.

I this post, you say "I'm not even going to try this simple fix because it's the company's fault for having a broken menu." Then he responds with "stop complaining and try it," and you say "no, I'm complaining about something entirely different."
Buy another CD key, it's only 13 euro. It's what all the cheaters do.

Thanks for analyzing this conversation. Like I said, the problem is the menu but not that it's slow (for some) - it's full of other glitches as well.
[editline]more[/editline]
The menu stopped responding to clicks, like I said in the first place. Nothing to do with lag.

But don't tell him that he's bad at reading when he was responding to what you said in that post.

There's your problem, by spamming the radio chat the bot gets confused and will not answer.
Press it once, if he says no, then there's nothing you can do.

Ever consider shutting down at night?
Ever consider shutting down at night?
Yep, But i'm lucky if the computer turns on after i do that. The power goes off randomly after only ten seconds for the most part. Until I get lucky and the computer all of a sudden becomes stable. Then it takes up to one day and then it freezes everything and i have to do it all again. Sometimes I'm lucky and the computer doesn't freeze after one day and it stays on for days. But that's very rare. So yeah, I take what i can get.
