I'd like to see a return of colored transparent plastic from the GBC/GBA/N64 days.
The Switch's Pro Controller has transparent plastic, at least.
Why a deal breaker? Wouldn't it make the console look better for having it?
Sorry, I meant that it would defiantly be a big part in convincing me to get it, deal breaker may have not been the right term.

hell yes
Are those official?
Huh, so I hear that the stats for this thing matches or slightly exceeds the XBone/PS4 and the fact that it uses a cartridge based system gives it a slight advantage over the other two in regards to game storage, plus no more of that whole "Get a game and wait till it installs on the system" shenanigans AND you can carry your saves around with you in the carts themselves.
That sounds like the best of both worlds in regards to a console/handheld hybrid.

Snazzy.
Are those official?
Says right on the page they're photoshopped.

Conjecture/speculation/rumor. Until Nintendo actually releases the specs themselves, we don't know for sure.
and the fact that it uses a cartridge based system
To-may-to to-maw-to, it dosen't matter what people call it

Annoys me anyway.
A few things to mention about the Mario Kart scene:
-Mario's HUD icon is different from the one in Mario Kart 8
-the map is gray. Even in 2-P mode, it was blue in Mario Kart 8
Combined with the return of double items, it seems likely this is actually a new game that will have a lot of Mario Kart 8 assets to allow it to have a larger amount of maps and characters, rather than a port. (Despite this, the spark effect is the same. Even though a tweet claimed they were different, the clouds and trees are placed the same as in MK8 for Yoshi Circuit)

Technically they are cartridges though, as they fit the definition of what a ROM cartridge is.
I know Nintendo called them GameCards or whatever, but they're still cartridges.
The GB used cartridges, the GBA used cartridges, the 3DS used cartridges, etc. At no point did they suddenly not become cartridges, they just got more smaller.

The Mario footage also had plenty of 3D World assets and so forth, so these seem like they used pre-existing assets to speed up game development across the board.
Something confuses me about the design.
Why wouldn't they make the screen dock outward facing, so you could for example still use the screen while docked for off-tv play?
The portability aspect isn't something that particularly interests me to be honest. I can't remember the last time I played anything 'on the go'; even most of the life of my DS was spent at home.
It'll be good if it can combine the home and portable libraries though; another home console Monster Hunter would be sweet.
Beyond that, the only selling point to me is the fact that it's new and it's Nintendo. That's usually enough.
Oop, actually, I think I might know why Nintendo went with asymmetrical, and it would be for a very Nintendo reason: to keep the diamond reading right-to-left when you rotate the right Joy-Con.

It has built in stands so you don't need the dock
So does Nintendo have some kind of partnership with Arby's or something?

Arbys is chaotic neutral
It has built in stands so you don't need the dock
But then don't you lose the benefits of having it docked...?
Looks like we might get a HS port announcement at Blizzcon:

HS seems like a perfect fit for Switch if a touchscreen is involved. Pretty crazy regardless, has a Blizz game ever been on a Nintendo console?
ooooo I wonder if we will get Overwatch on the Switch. Overwatch where ever I want? Please give it to me.
Overwatch on the go would require some form of data plan.
Please no Nintendo.
Oh wait thats right we don't have Internet everywhere. Fuck. I still want an Overwatch port though.
Despite those grown-ass adults being the ones in the preview, it should be fairly obvious that's a kids-want-to-play-games-in-the-car-as-well-as-at-home-but-we-don't-want-to-buy-both-a-console-and-a-handheld-or-two solution.
I've had a PS2 to some shitty portable car TVs before when I was younger, only I imagine this is a lot more convenient.
the marketing is smart - it's marketing toward kids without depicting them
what kids think are cool are things marketed at young adults. they want to emulate the stuff the cool older kids are doing

Actually on second thought the Hearthstone tweet is probably just meme-ing on the curtain tweet, got my hopes up for a second there
God I'm interested as all hell but I need to see more of it in action first. Definitely interested in Splatoon and a new Mario.
FromSoft being on board is a surprise.
Some gifs to whet your appetite for 3D Mario

The return of the recovery heart in the second gif is nice to see but I'm curious about those robot sombrero folk
Obviously that Mario game is the sequel to Super Mario Sunshine: Super Mario Moonshine.
