I wonder when Nintendo's gonna drop the act about the Switch not replacing the 3ds and Wii U
Cause I'm sure no one's convinced
Don't forget Yoshi's Woolly World for 3DS. The Wii U version was really good.
if they do make the switch (ha!) to the new platform as their primary handheld device too, would that mean the next pokemon game would technically be the first main series console pokemon title?
Next Gen? Gonna happen
Whatever remake they're gonna do next? It's gonna use the new 3DS so they can recycle the new assets no bones about it

I don't think they would cut off a large amount of people like that. A remake will still be on the normal 3DS and the new 3DS.
If they abandon the New 3DS that fast considering it's been only a year (although almost two, god time flies), then it will make me wonder what the point of it even was.
All the same, I imagine that a handheld/console hybrid like the Switch will be perfect for everything that isn't DS/3DS when it comes to Virtual Console. There'd be no excuse for not putting GBA games on there. Unfortunately, since the Joy-Con lacks any touchscreen functionality (and, as far as we know, no Gyroscope or motion controls either until they reveal more info), it can't do the aforementioned DS / 3DS titles and it sure as hell can't do some Wii U games that used the gamepad unless they were altered. Plus, no disc tray whatsoever = no Wii U backwards compatibility, not with physical copies anyway.
The 'leaks' assuming it had 3DS compatibility due to cartridges and Wii U compatibility due to shared titles both bombed out. Maybe they'll step up their VC game, but the Nintendo Switch is looking to be completely independent with its own titles otherwise.
Remember that dude who said they would post no new info this year?

Stay tuned to learn more about Nintendo Switch over the coming months!

I bet the system will be $299-350.
Also I was planning on getting a new tablet this black Friday but might hold out for the Switch, seeing how it will definitely have a web browser and Netflix.
Does it look like the 3DS games could fit into the switch? I'm hoping its not too farfetched to hope that it'll work like the super Gameboy, and you can play 3DS games on the big screen that way.

They would look terrible due to the upscaling. Besides, they would need that unconfirmed touch screen.

Honestly misspoke, meant it would still be on the 3DS in general.
That being said however after seeing what Sun/Moon does to O3DS it might be a good idea to call it N3DS anyway like Hyrule Warriors
Probably late to the party, but i hope that the majority of the cost of the Switch is just inside the Dock. like i can understand the marketing behind being able to carry a console experience on the go, but for families, it can be pretty dickish. like you have a bunch of NNIDs attached to a Wii U and people could play that fine.
But then with the Switch, all of the accounts are with whoever carries the screen. Nintendo could go out and say that the screen can only have 1 account synced at a time, granted if it was placed back on the dock...or even have the screen as a successor to the 3DS itself. or maybe even having a 3DS successor that connects directly to a Dock to offer some of its processor speeds to enable the Dock to substitute it.
It could probably be solved if Nintendo just lets go of the whole one-system link thing and let people connect 1/2 3DSes or multiple systems with the same NNID like how Sony balanced PSPs, Vita, PS3 and PS4 rights. slam in some sort of custom button press that you set (and remotely change on the Nintendo site's account options if you forget) which enables the account to be taken on the go.
I can imagine Nintendo not stating if it's intended to be a large focus of it being a handheld, or if it's portability is the new gimmick. Adults is just more realistic since they might live alone or go to work. with Kids, anything that's seen as a major purchase is a family room item whereas a 3DS is more personal due to the one-account system.
Do you mean the hardware? Everything but HDMI out / AC / possibly cooling is on the NS itself
Yeah, there was an article at IGN where a Nintendo representative confirmed this. The thing is just a fancy stand to power it and connect it to TV. All the processing is done on the part with the screen.
It creates my primary concern that the system is gonna be an energy hog, running both a screen and its internal parts, and that it's gonna be a bit warm to hold.
Do you think they will bring Virtual console to the Nintendo Switch? I would love to play old classics on a Vita look-a-like.

But you hold it by the controllers which are away from the screen and there is nothing in them that could heat up. It shouldn't be a problem.

If they do I really hope they don't take years to make the library as big as the one for wii virtual console
Still bummed they didnt give us gamecube games. But with the Switch they might arrive.
Shantae is a eshop game isn't it?
Also Zelda comes after the holiday (and is on the NX anyway)
Shantae is having a physical release for Wii U. My store's still taking preorders for it. I think xbone is the only platform with no physical release.

Well I guess they DID say it wouldn't replace the 3DS or Wii U, but that kinda sucks it has no backwards compatibility.
I don't really see the switch replacing the 3ds, I figure they will eventually come out with a 3ds successor

Oh great
So I'll have to get a Wii U to play the games that I wanna play and don't get NX ports
>Modern Architecture that can port 3rd party titles

I have to agree with this.
This is still kind of a deal breaker for me though

touch screen deconfirmed?
i'll be disappointed if there's a 3DS successor. I'd rather they focus all of their efforts on a single platform
I could hope you can transfer your wii u save files into the Nintendo switch port/sequel of the game via cloud saving.
touch screen deconfirmed?
Touch screen never even suggested.
Touch screen never even suggested.
Nintendo needs a attachable Rear touchpad for the Nintendo switch.
touch screen deconfirmed?
Wouldn't a bigger issue for supporting BC for those consoles be the requirement for multiple screens? As far as we've seen there's no way of getting the switch on more than one screen at a time.
I do hope switch has touchscreen, its a great feature to have around IMO.
