General Nintendo Discussion V5 - The Future of Nintendo

Whatever happens, I certainly hope that my Wii U Pro Controller is compatible with the Switch, because not only is it the most comfortable controller I've ever held, the damn thing was expensive and I want my money's worth.
Just please port Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze then I can sell my Wii U.
Bayonetta 1 and 2 on the go please.
:wow:
-You didn't see anything-
I kinda glaze over at the whole "console war" thing, but I'll throw my 2 cents in anyway.
Regardless of what kinda tech sony and microsoft bring out with their consoles, I'm always in line for the new Nintendo console the day it comes out.
Most "you're a 30-something guy with brown hair and a gun" games don't appeal to me at all, but even before the games for the system are announced, I know that Nintendo always has something I wanna play.
Onto a less arguable topic- there's an interview with Tatsumi Kimishima about recent Nintendo events and the future. Interesting stuff.
I just like not having to pay for online. And Nintendo is pretty much always the cheapest console.
Also more exclusives I care about.
I've been playing snes eshop games on the wii u a lot, and I've noticed that they have slowdown and stuttering issues occasionally. Is this an issue with emulation or were snes games really like that?
It depends on the game. Some of them suffered from slowdown issues on the original hardware (off the top of my head Gradius III was a big one when it came to slowdown. You pretty much played the game in slow motion. Which actually helped you dodge a lot of shit but I digress). I don't recall stuttering though, what games have you been playing?

Earthbound had some slowdowns but those were mostly in areas with a lot of sprites on the screen so I assume that's why. The stuttering was in a few places in super metroid.

So Nintendo UK posted this about some similar stuff from the original NES Zelda to Breath of the Wild. I have a funny felling this is going to be a sequel to Zelda II in the "Heroes Gets Defeated" Timeline.

Sounds that they don't have another 3DS planned, they just expect it to keep selling based on software.
Weird, it feels like they don't have much coming out (besides pokemon and pikmin).
maybe it'll pick up in 2017 again, but all things considered, now's the best time for the New 3DS to start getting exclusives or having more of an impact, compared to when it released last year with no big reason to get it yet

Yeah, Earthbound has slow down in some parts of the game, I have the physical copy.
Just got done playing through all 6 professor layton games which I bought a few months ago. I loved all of them, easily one of my favorite videogame franchises along with mario and zelda and such.
The unwound future and the azran legacy were my favorites as far as the stories and puzzles go, the latter especially had some fantastic puzzles.
Time to wait for lady layton...

COD and Battlefield Devs on suicide watch seeing how they were completely dethroned from the premiere FPS franchise.

Hearing a remix of my favorite Kirby 64 song in Planet robotot made me very happy
I'm seeing a lot of "waaa waaa I'm not the target audience therefore it sucks waaa" but that's the usual in this medium
On a different note, the switch looks great as a concept. I'm most definitely getting it anyway because I love the games, but I'm not entirely sold until we get more info
Like, is the base the only way to charge it? because that would make traveling with it awkward to impossible.

There is a plug underneath to put a cord in, most likely a USB-C based on the shape and rumored reports. The base being the only place to charge it would really contradict the whole "take it on the go" aspect (though from where it is I doubt you'll be able to play it while charging in kickstand mode, which is a bit of a bummer but ah well)
And in the end, I forsee a fuckton more games announced in January- if they had wanted to sell you on the concept alone, they would have opened up preorders already.

It depends on which you are referring to. For example, several Konami games, most notably Super Castlevania IV, do have noticeable slowdown n many areas on a real system, and the second level of Super Mario World, where there are ten koopas lined up on a hill, will induce slowdown due to SMW having kind of inefficient code. Later, non-SuperFX Nintendo games don't really have this issue and they make up most of the VC.
if there's a way to charge it with the base, there will be a way to charge it through a cord, official or not
Hopefully USB charge cord. I think i've heard something about Nintendo working on this right now.
The sooner Nintendo adopts more industry standards the better.
Does anyone here know anything about Famicoms? I bought one recently, and I can get a picture just fine on my TV, but the sound is nothing but a loud buzzing and sometimes you can faintly hear a radio station.

What channel do you have it on? What kind of tv do you have and how is the Famicom set up?

Try lowering the microphone slider on controller 2 to it's lowest setting.
If all else fails get it modded for composite or s video

It's good to know that not even Nintendo can avoid shitty early access-tier unity games
