I got a Wii U from a fortune cookie...and it crashed my game :suicide:
Thankfully I'll be getting a Isabella card soon, and I hear she has all the console to play on, so that's good!
It's a misconception that you need to have your time set to 12 AM - 4 AM to encounter Wisp. I encountered him during daytime.

Same, the game treats 6AM as a new day anyway.
Hey I'm gonna check my Streetpass houses in New Leaf

Haha okay I'm good
Yeah dunno why that wisp time rumor started. I found him at around 10pm.
Also Animal Crossing talk aside: I played a bit of Mario Party: Star Rush and figured I'd give my first impressions of it because I literally have nothing better to do with my time at the moment.
Keep in mind I only played single player as I won't have a chance to try out multi till the weekend-
Toad Scramble: This game mode feels super awkward at first but I think when I get more time with it I'll like it a lot more. I instantly feel it's better then the car though and it's nice to see items that just aren't mushrooms back (there's springs to fling players around, you can set traps to steal coins and more)
Winning feels less like a random dice roll from the few rounds I played and more based on the choices players make. If you roll a 5 and the boss space is 4 spaces away you cannot end your turn early to land on the star space, you have to expend all the moves.
I didn't give this much thought and just spent a turn or two wasted camping the boss for the right roll, but what I didn't notice was Blue Toad off grabbing coins while waiting for a good roll- the end of that match he had 0 stars but 37 coins and when 10 coins = 1 star... it boosted him pretty close to me! There's actual thought required it seems as I could of easily got taken over.
My biggest worry is that boss fights will become impossible to win due to partners joining in those minigames. I only played with Hard CPU's so it wasn't too hard to overcome the hurdle but when there's just one character trying to score vs a team of four I can't see any way of that lone wolf winning. There's way to steal characters but I won't see how bad it is until I play another human.
Overall I think this has a lot of potential and I'm eager to see where it goes.
Coinathalon Yo this mode is fun as fuck. I really liked it. You have about 100 something spaces laid in a simple circle and you just play nonstop 60 second-minigames that shower coins on you. 1 coin = 1 space moved. If you get about 10-15 coins you'll get a mario kart styled debuff you can sling at enemies and use to impede their progress.
When the minigames 60 seconds are up it shows who grabbed the most coins, rewards who did the best +3 spaces and instantly jumps into the next minigame without a break until you finish 3 to 5 laps.
There's a news-ticker at the bottom of the minigame screen so you can read what enemies are doing while you race, and sometimes sirens will go off saying Bowser is on the way.
When Bowser shows up you're slung into a really chaotic minigame with the other racers- true to old mario party fashion if you fail you get punished by getting flung back a set number of spaces so it becomes a brawl to get others to fail.
It's crazy fun and it sucks knowing this mode is gonna get dropped most likely by the next Mario Party.
Things I wasn't aware of: There's totally a leveling/progression system. When you first boot up the game you have Toad Scramble with 6 maps to play on, and when you win a match you get +200 points which then levels you up to Lvl.2 and unlocks Coinathalon for you. You quickly unlock a couple other modes, then characters, then more modes so not everything is open at first. Don't think you'll be able to buy it and jump into whatever you want instantly (Though really unlocking stuff takes no time at all)
Like Sift says, the time frame for Wisp appearing is fake, I randomly found him yesterday at 19:00 while I was moving around the village.
I wonder if Nintendo games will ditch the Switch namesake, unlike how a lot of Wii games and some Wii U games had "Wii" or "U" in their titles
I mean, Super Mario Switch and Super Smash Bros Switch don't exactly roll right off the tongue
Super Smash Bros Switch at least sounds a bit better than Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS.
It's nuts to think that they never gave the games proper subtitles. They could've gone with something like Fracas/Skirmish for the portable and Confrontation/Altercation for the home console. Instead we're gonna have For Nintendo 3DS and For a Dead Console Which Was Cannibalized For a New Console.
Ironically. They separated the characters that could switch forms before.
On the plus side, if Smash is coming to the Switch then we'll probably see the return of the Ice Climbers

Sheik can now only be played when the Switch is in handheld mode.
(snip wrong section)
Star Rush
Coinathlon is definitely the highlight of this one. Toad scramble would be better if it wasn't so easy to steamroll if you get an ally or two before everyone else.

I appreciated the pun- its not smash bros for, its smash bros four. I have no doubt the name will be "Smash Bros For Switch" for this very reason

Yeah it is most likely that hardware limitation won't be a problem this time.

Super Smash Bros 5witch
Even though i wish they would go back to battle names.

I still say they should've gone with this.

Should have gone with Smash Bros (3)Dimensions, and Smash Bros (wii)Universe
I dunno, my sister and I just took to calling the WiiU and 3DS versions of smash Kerfuffle and Brouhaha, to fit with the titling of the past games, and relative non-seriousness of the current one.
It's time for BLASTER MASTER!
DID YOU BRING YOUR BLASTER MASTER MASTER BLASTER?!

this is the neatest but most random ass announcement i could've heard for a series like this
Someone say Blaster Master?
Gimme I wants
Even though the first Blaster Master game I ever played was 2 on the Genesis/Master System
That was the bad blaster master
Idk I thought it was good enough to rent it multiple times and then buy when the rental place went out of business :v:

And when I was a kid, I was legitimately convinced that Home Alone 2 for the Gameboy Color was a great game- we all were dumb kids once
(The game probably wasn't as bad as Home Alone 2 for the Gameboy Color)
I was thinking about what if real life was like Toy Story and amiibos could come to life.
Do you think that the figurines that are suspended by that transparent plastic shit would just be stuck there and unable to leave their stand like weird monstrosities?

it'd be like the toy soldiers with their green platforms
they just kinda bounce around on them
