General Nintendo Discussion V5 - The Future of Nintendo

Going with the impression that it will be for Wii Ports/VC games. Games that require Wii Remotes but I don't think they'll advertise or encourage devs to use them aside from the gyro.
Agh, I can't decide what to grab right now. I've got four options for nintendo games, and a coupon for buy 2 get 1 free, so I can grab three. Kirby Rainbow Curse(WiiU), Kingdom hearts Dream Drop Distance, Professor Layton and the Arzan Legacy, and LoZ: Majora's Mask 3D. I think kirby and majora is guaranteed, but I can't decide on the other two. I'm not a huge KH fan; is Dream Drop a gotta have title; or am I better off going with professor Layton?
Reminder that in devkits, the Wii EXT port was used for the controllers.
Have some shots of a early dev board for the 3DS and it's controllers.

KH:3D is going to make little sense if you haven't played the others.
Pokemon X and Y, Smash 3DS, and Robobot are all 25 bucks for Black Friday.
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask on the Virtual Console will be released in the US tomorrow.

I've only played 358/2 days, Re:coded, and a bit of the first game, so not too much knowledge, but it's not my first dip either.
KH3D was made to be as accessible as possible to new player's by having optional flashback and journal stuff to give backgrounds for the older games
Oh, cool! Then I think we'll be good. Excited to try it out, since I grabbed it. I heard there's a timer mechanic with switching out characters, so hopefully that's not bothersome.
Well, someone made a Super Metroid romhack that combines a couple popular control ones together while also trying to make the gameplay feel more like the refined Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission entries.

I think it will but hopefully not. I tried to get into 3D after playing all the other games but I have a hard time getting into it.
The good thing is that it'll keep you busy for a while, longevity is something it has over a game like Layton.
Ordered Pokemon Sun/Moon today as a gift to myself and a friend.
I'm not sure if I should play it as soon as I get it or wait until I give it to her, just to be fair.
Buying a WiiU on Friday! so pumped
Holy shit Fire Emblem Awakening and Mario & Luigi Dream Team are $20 dollars on eShop!
Well, someone made a Super Metroid romhack that combines a couple popular control ones together while also trying to make the gameplay feel more like the refined Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission entries.
But Super Metroid is already a masterpiece... gonna try it out. I still need to play AMR2 (which I manage to get before the C&D).
Bought Kirby : Return to Dream Land, and Fast Racing Neo on WiiU. Pretty sweet deals for once.
Kirby: Return to Dreamland is a fantastic Wii game.
... was there ever a bad Kirby game? I know there were some that were stupid easy, but not terrible.

Squeak Squad is probably the only Kirby game that i ever see people shitting on.
But yeah, it's pretty much a known fact that Kirby is a near perfect franchise.

Holy shit.
Never played metroid until 2013, when I tried the original game, gave up, then tried Zero Mission and was blown away. Then I tried Super Metroid and was shocked by how "floaty" the gamefeel was - and nobody seemed to recognize it, because everybody loved the game so much as a kid.
This could be amazing
Gee, I wonder why:

Not sure if this means Eurogamer has been blacklisted too or not, especially since they dropped together the Pokemon Stars rumor right at Sun and Moon's launch.
Seriously Fuck Laura Kate Dale I'm glad she got blacklisted for leaking games and the switch. Ruins the surprises that Nintendo has in store

Not only that but now she's claiming this improves her trustworthiness.

I fear for the meltdown she is going to have once she gets something wrong. She was the one that cried harassment and that TB's audience was transphobic when people were saying they didn't like her voice on TB's unofficial subreddit.
I can't imagine how she will act once people start calling her out on stuff.
Not only that but now she's claiming this improves her trustworthiness.
And this confirms that everything Emily Rogers spouts on Twitter is false if Nintendo isn't going after her.

Wait, really? Squeak Squad was one of my favorites; the only real gripe I have with it is that the final boss is a joke, but what do others dislike it for?

Person says thing, proving the same person can't be lying
Yeah okay
I don't even know this Laura Kate Dale is, there are to many Nintendo rumor people. I only know one of them and that is the british rumor guy, he's the guy I go to for all my Nintendo rumors that are probably shit.
While no Kirby game is truly awful (discounting Epic Yarn) the meme of "no bad games" is kinda wrong in my opinion.
Kirby 64 is a product of the time and going back to it can be pretty rough. Lots of really forgettable stages, insanely slow movement speed, 85% powers are kinda complete shit, all enemies are just colored blobs with eyes, backtracking out the ass etc. I still play it a lot of the time but it's nowhere near as great as some people would you have you believe. (The Soundtrack to this day is still 10/10 though)
Epic Yarn was pretty dogshit in my opinion. I don't mind easy games, I find them relaxing but taking out any threat of failure and having a really really weak soundtrack just made it feel more like a chore then a actual game. There was no motivation to see the next level because there was nothing really done that was interesting. I may think that Yoshi's Wooly World is pretty "Eh it's alright" but at least they learned they can't just make a toothless game.
Wait, really? Squeak Squad was one of my favorites; the only real gripe I have with it is that the final boss is a joke, but what do others dislike it for?
Squeak Squad has pretty bad level design and a pretty mediocre selection of songs. Only original one I can think of is the final boss and the squeaks theme itself. It doesn't help that it advertised power mixing and it boiled down to "sword but with fire.gif on it" or "wheel with ice on it".
Daroach is a cool design but that's about the only thing I'd say is a straight positive.
if it means anything, when people talks about Kirby games, they're only talking about the main ones. everything past Nintendo 64 were handheld games or spinoffs, Kirby didn't get a mainline game (in the fan's eyes) until the Wii with Return to Dream Land. i'm unsure how Epic Yarn and Rainbow Curse compares. Squeak Squad is kind of infamous because the artstyle moved to a slightly more cartoonish and smooth look, the Squeaks themselves looks like outside context villains, that and the gameplay was a lot sterile and simple compared to Power Paintbrush's use of the touch screen (way better than Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow's glyphs, imo), Amazing Mirror's multiplayer and Metroidvania maps or even Superstar's DS remake. Most villains previously encountered just happened to be nightmarish abominations or things that were sealed up. barring Marx and Sectonia, has there been any regular looking, sapient beings that has been warmly received?
I honestly can't say there's much about Kirby: Mass Attack...or if i (and the fans) gave up temporarily when Kirby went a bit too far on the gimmicks. it just seems more out there than turning into a rail-drawing game with ball physics or just coming out after Superstar's remake. it probably didn't help that Super Star Deluxe was released 3 years ago in 2008, the DS would've been winding down at the time, besides Pokemon BWBW2.
Robobot probably has the benefit of being improved upon from Triple Deluxe whilst upping the ante on continuity, Suzie might even be a better deadringer than Taranza in terms of a henchman.
When you look at spinoffs like Tilt N' Tumble or Pinball Land, you don't hear about how good or bad they are, even Avalanche/Ghost Trap and Dream Course are more talked about the fact that in the former, Kirby talks and that the game is a Puyo Puyo reskin, and the latter....is a golf game? Strangely i feel that people are probably vocal about Kirby's Air Ride but presumably it's entertaining in itself and holds up as a racing game, the Kirby IP probably makes it interesting.
I could see Air Ride being underrated compared to the Nintendo's tight knit gamecube games. you have the Metroid Prime duology (eventually a trilogy), Thousand-Year Door, Luigi's Mansion, F-Zero GX, Pikmin 1&2, and even with the little issues (mainly concerning Bowser Jr) Mario Sunshine attempted to explore the formula a bit with stuff like having some plot and voices.
[sp]i really should play Rainbow Curse sometime. does it hold up as much as Canvas Curse, despite sharing the same gameplay formula?[/sp]
