if it means anything, when people talks about Kirby games, they're only talking about the main ones. everything past Nintendo 64 were handheld games or spinoffs, Kirby didn't get a mainline game (in the fan's eyes) until the Wii with Return to Dream Land. i'm unsure how Epic Yarn and Rainbow Curse compares. Squeak Squad is kind of infamous because the artstyle moved to a slightly more cartoonish and smooth look, the Squeaks themselves looks like outside context villains, that and the gameplay was a lot sterile and simple compared to Power Paintbrush's use of the touch screen (way better than Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow's glyphs, imo), Amazing Mirror's multiplayer and Metroidvania maps or even Superstar's DS remake. Most villains previously encountered just happened to be nightmarish abominations or things that were sealed up. barring Marx and Sectonia, has there been any regular looking, sapient beings that has been warmly received?
Wait what? There are people who don't consider the handheld titles to be part of the main line of games? How the fuck does that make any sense? The series started on handhelds, and most of the Kirby games are on handhelds as well! The type of console a game from a series is released on shouldn't matter if it's a main line title or a spinoff.
Squeak squad was amazing sorry 'bout it
Rainbow Curse suffers from it's length more then anything. I had a lot of fun with it but I really enjoyed the mechanic of drawing paths so I'm not sure how it would stack with others.
It's OST is the best period though.

It's fine to like painfully mediocre games, but don't oversell em' now :v:
Squeak Squad was good.
Painfully mediocre was Pokémon X/Y.
Wait, really? Squeak Squad was one of my favorites; the only real gripe I have with it is that the final boss is a joke, but what do others dislike it for?
I imagine that some people thought "Kirby goes on a murderous rampage, unjustifiably assaults a king and unleashes a demon because a piece of cake was stolen" was not the most reasonable of plots.
I'm sad that I missed when Amazon was putting up the 100 buck New 3DS's, since I was gonna buy it with Amazon funbucks
I thought that having college classes on a Wednesday was safe from Black Friday shopping, but apparently not

That's why I like Squeak Squad. Kirby did it all for a piece of Strawberry Shortcake.
Kirby Squeak Squad was great, but the thing that drug it down was that awful final boss.
Dark Daroach was a better fight than that, creating cross pattern attacks with his fire bombs and ice beams, on top of warping everywhere and his super fast triple star attack. The attacks had oomph to it. Music was good too. If you did vanilla it's pretty dang challenging.
Dark Nebula was just like "have some slow moving stars poot poot poot" while an extremely underwhelming theme plays.
Squeek Squad was good because it showed just how far Kirby would go for some fucking cake.

I'm just saying that the GB games are "main" in a sense of starting the framework for the series as well as the Dark Matter trilogy (2, 3, 64). but Mass Attack and Squeak Squad seem a bit derivative or something. its like when Donkey Kong Country eventually got a new game, but refused to use any of the original enemies and purely goes for Tikis/Vikings as antagonists with hypnotized animals as fodder, that's what the Squeaks felt like to me.
Like Amazing Mirror was good in its own right and felt ambitious, whereas Canvas Curse would be more like experimental gameplay that went by alright. Squeak Squad was a bit easy for its own good but nevetheless is at least taken as canon as far as the Halberd goes. Epic Yarn takes place in another world and just seems like it "just happens". maybe it's just selective favourism for me for the most part.
With Triple Deluxe/Robobot, the standard expectations got to "main game" status. putting a spin on familiarity is OK (like Canvas Curse, and AM), but going through familiar stuff that feels a bit sterile isn't. (Mass Attack, Squeak Squad). generally if Kirby transforms/change shape or alters gamestyle, the game is Non-Main for me, it's usually above average or better, but with Kirby's track record it's at least doing better than Yoshi's games that are frequently compared to the Original Yoshi's Island.
Or think of it this way, Pokemon has fans, but not all fans are necessarily fans of everything related to the franchise, you'll probably find more fans of the games on the internet than there is for the Anime, but there is still a sizable amount of TCG players who might not be into the games and fans of both parts of the fanbase into Pokemon Special. might fragment more between people who thinks (rightfully) that Mystery Dungeon got worse at Gates to Infinity, or for the various spinoffs like Conquest, Snap or Ranger.
EDIT: Or Mass Attack/Squeak Squad was seen as distant, but new non-remake games that are supposed to be main, but gives off a Battle Network 4 vibe. just to tide people over until they could get up off their feet for the cancelation of Kirby GCN before restructuring some of it into RTDL.
I don't care what anyone else says, Epic Yarn was good.
Squeak Squad was my first Kirby and I liked it. The powerup combinations were lit and I miss the digger copy ability.
I beat robobot yesterday and I have to say the poison copy ability is probably my favorite ever. I really wish they had made more robo copy abilities.
my first kirby game was kirby and the amazing mirror. i remember being disappointed when i moved on to other kirby games and realized that amazing mirror was unique in its world structure.
My first ever Kirby game was Kirby Super Star on the SNES. What a amazing game that was, played it with my brother in co-op.
You guys are making me feel old. The first one I played was the orignal on the gameboy, then Adventure on the NES.
My first kirby was Dreamland 2, then 64.
I don't think Squeak Squad was a bad game, but I don't really see much of a desire to replay it compared to other kirby games. It just felt underwhelming, especially Dark Nebula.
My first Kirby game was Nightmare in Dreamland, then Amazing Mirror.
Amazing Mirror is still my favorite to date because of the four Kirbys (Kirbies? What even is the plural there) and how the levels linked to each other.
I first played Kirby when my cousin brought his copy of Nightmare in Dream Land while visiting and let me play it. I really loved it, and I played it religiously once I got my own cartridge. To this day I think it's one of my favorite games of all time. I love it so much that I'm actually working on a video that compares it to Kirby's Adventure.

Neat. Coming January 2017.
Oh hey, I Kickstarted that a while back and I just got mine yesterday. It's really nice. Has tons of write-ups and interviews, information about every possible thing you can think of relating to N64. Also write-ups on every single game.

Mine was a Kickstarter edition that came with an extra book containing all the game box art too. Not a mind-blowing extra, but nice.

I did the same thing with the original. I still know where every secret switch is off the top of my head. Hell, the last time I booted up my NES to play the orignal cartridge, I still had 3 save files all at 100% completion :v:
If you want help on your video, I'll gladly lend a hand. It's one of my all time favorite games. That and the music in that game was the catalyst that led me to becoming a musician. The theme for Grape Garden is one of my favorite game tracks of all time.
Rhythm Paradise Megamix is so fucking good holy shiiiiiiiiiiiit

Thanks a bunch for the offer! I PM'd you with my biggest issue.

Thanks for posting these. The Amazon page doesn't show any previews of the inside of the book, but now I'm absolutely sure that I'm going to buy this thing.
Picked up my Wii U today, got Smash, MK8, and Hyrule Warriors! Pretty stoked.

You've made wonderful decisions.
Managed to get a NES Classic 👌🏻
So I plugged in my Wii U for the first time in months to test out some Wiimotes and whatnot before I go sell them. About a minute in, as soon as I pressed Up on the Nunchuk while at character select of Smash 4, the system crashed. Now every time I try to turn it on, it does so for all of three seconds before it stops and goes to a blinking red light. I've tried unplugging it from everything (motion bar, hdmi cord, leaving the power cord unplugged on both ends for minutes), using a brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner hose to clean the vents, blowing it out with a hairdryer, but nothing works. I'm going to leave it unplugged overnight to see if luck smiles upon me or something, but odds are I'll have to send it in. Any of you mavericks have a solution before I throw it at Nintendo's mercy?
The roshambo temples in color splash are fucking awful
If I want color splash to be like the first two paper mario games, how disappointed will I be if I played it?
No Paper Mario game after the first two plays remotely like the first two.
I'm so happy I got this WiiU, my brothers are playing video games with me again. It's just like in the old days of when we got in fist fights over who would get to play animal crossing first when we got him from school. Except with less fist fighting. And less fighting in general :v:
