I was expecting something as cool as the Wolf Link Amiibo. :v: Ah well.
It's still pretty neat.

Aside from the Archer Link most likely giving you a random set of arrows, I only expect something similar to Wolf Link with the Rider and the Guardian amiibo.
Rider would summon a horse for you to ride and Guardian would summon a Guardian for you to fight or increase difficulty or, funny idea, a mini-guardian as a companion.
But since I saw the dog following the villager in yesterday's trailer, I could see the hunting dog/wolf mechanic being something already in the game. The amiibo would only give you a Wolf Link skin with Hearts depending on how well you did in TPHD Wolf Trials.
I can see people using these dropping chests has catapult triggers, switch pressing or kill enemies with it.
I assume the appeal of the amiibo will be whatever's IN the chest. Still, oddly understated bonuses for the amiibo.

Tactical Chest Package incoming.
A Portal to the Meat Dimension
Oh there might be reasons for it, I just didn't think it made the game look nice. To be it looked like someone smeared egg yolks on the screen while Link slowly lumbered around and just ech they could of handled it better.
That's why I'm saying it's not like I lost faith in the game or anything, just that I think that showing itself was pretty bad
Apparently the Wii U puts out at a limited range of colors. Some recorded gameplay footage looks a lot different color-wise from the trailers we've been given; example.

Maybe Bill doesn't know how to set his TV or they didn't bother making sure the recorded footage looks like it does on an actual TV. That's the best care scenario for the graphics.
Enemies in BotW seem more terrifying then ever. I know Lizalfos could jump over Young Link in OoT but that some distance!
Also, 30th anniversary Zelda Amiibo functions:
It drops gold-rimmed chest with loot alongside meat, barrels, fish or flowers. From the sky.
I'm not kidding.

Hmmm, kinda wish they did something in the level of the Wolf Amiibo, but it's nice too. Now we still need to see Ganondorf and Sheik's function. I don't mind Ganondorf's being double damage taken again from TP HD.
I'd be happy without any amiibo stuff
I'm glad at least it doesn't provide some excessive advantageous bonus
If they locked some good looking clothing or an awesome weapon behind an amiibo paywall I'd be shooting myself out of a trebuchet at Nintendo HQ
Yeah honestly i am completely fine with amiibos giving a small bonus like this instead of something else much more significant, or just plain pay-2-win.
the Wii U's HDMI output isn't full RGB range, so it's missing a bit of data on the lower and upper 0-255 range. the final game almost definitely won't look like that on a screen.
Are you shitting me? Not only is it a turd on the hardware side but the HDMI isn't fully capable? Cmon Nintendo that's pathetic

Reminds me of how the Wii U's USB ports provide shit power, which is why external hard drives need to be plugged into the outlet and why the gamecube adapter needed two USB cords for rumble
Not being full range HDMI explains why my capture card doesn't detect the wii U every time. Also explains the washed out colors with darker places.

all 4 of these look really good
I have the classic 8-bit Link amiibo, he's really fucking heavy, and I didn't anticipate him having a sword on his back. Very nice little figure
i still don't understand the appeal of amiibos and i dont think i ever will

i like figurines but amiibos are not that

For me it's the novelty and pleasure of collecting them. They're also really nice for display imo.
I like having figurines of character I like that are all part of the same collection, with the same scale and bases. It looks neat.
I rarely use them for the ingame bonuses tho

to me though they feel like slightly higher quality happy meal toys
to me though they feel like slightly higher quality happy meal toys
believe it or not but theres a lot of people out there who collect happy meal toys. regardless of their quality doesn't change their collectability

Classic Link's nose is SO BIG.
Also killll me. Been trying to find a N3DSXL for ages so I can play Hyrule Warriors Legends (Well, and my huge backlog of 3DS games that I really don't want to play on the original unit's tiny screen anymore), and I really, really don't want to buy the default one for the same price as one of the cooler variants.
So I'm playing SMM 3ds, and it's pretty cool. It's really weird though, there's some stuff that Nintendo would never put in a Mario game: strange gameplay modifiers (screen warping), random sound effects (like screaming and stuff) - makes it feel really unique.
The physics are really fucking me up though. The first Mario World stage I got, I couldn't land a jump on a single block like 15 times in a row, because I was expecting SMW physics. SMB, SMB3 is strange too, but I played them a lot less, and I didn't play any challenging SMB levels yet
to me though they feel like slightly higher quality happy meal toys
Really? Save for some of the older ones, Amiibos feel like a really nice quality for the price.
Obviously they're not on par with the kind of figures you get for £30+, but I really wouldn't say they're comparable to Happy Meal toys. They're arguably better than a lot of the children's figures sold commercially.
to me though they feel like slightly higher quality happy meal toys
I don't know about today, but the last time(like 20 years ago) I bought one those toys were of amazing quality. I once got a toy car from Toy Story and you could throw that thing from second floor on the concrete and wouldn't even leave a scratch. It also survived three of my nephews.

Fuuuuuck. I really wanted it...
I love Good Smiles Figures like that, but they're way to expensive for me atm.

I found out about them recently. And I also found out about First4Figures

Goddamnit. Why does the good shit always cost so much? 25 inches, about 63 cm tall. :wow:
It really depends on you preferences after all.
Some will prefers the more expensive statues over the action figures. Some with a little budget could go for the Amiibos. Or some people just simply do not understand the appeal of collectibles at all.
I have 2 amibos
Still, I do want those Zelda amiibos.
I would just want the figures to be separate from dlc
I think it's kinda nice having the figure have a function other than just aesthetic. It's not like they give access to anything significant.
